Since departing Embaril, Lieutenant James Tarrington had been a busy man. His fleet had been split in half; all the better to avoid Fitzgerald's Broadside-class cruiser Clement. Numerous jumps had been made across the Outer Rim, dodging into Wild Space. At times, the protective escorts had even abandoned their craft, executing multiple jumps to leave a number of confusing ion signatures. Their routes were differing; erratic. The Doomtreaders were loaded with living cargo: Twi'leks, of both blue and red skin, exotic, insectoid Yam'rii, the odd Phuii, a dozen Pau'an, a high number of Morganians, highly recognized for their beauty, Cathars and Koboks. Now, with his group fully returned together, they'd jumped to hyperspace once more; only one jump from their destination, where Tarrington would lay his prizes before Rhygar Valencia and, so he hoped, be richly rewarded by the cyborg slaver.

Captain Romes had been exactly as busy as "Lieutenant" Tarrington, as the man fashioned himself. From the Clement, Romes had seen Tarrington's ships in his sights on too many occasions to count. Each time, Tarrington fled his watchful eye and the Clement remained in pursuit even as the slavers—out of desperation, Romes suspected, with fuel and food in short supply—had commenced dramatically evasive maneuvers; Romes knew to pursue the Doomtreaders and so ignored the rest of Tarrington's ships when they split up. It was the forays into Wild Space that finally lost the Clement, which reluctantly turned back to Ralltiir when the trail ran dry.

But even if it hadn't succeeded in finding the slaver's base of operations, the Clement hadn't completely failed; with reasonable confidence, it had narrowed down the location of the base to one of few inhabited systems in Wild Space. It had also made its point that Ralltiir wouldn't let up on slavers and, moreover, spread the word in common slaving grounds that Ralltiir would pay for leads into the whereabouts of slaves and their captors. This would make it easier for the Clement to find Tarrington the next time someone hard up for credits recognized his ship or ships and decided to call it in.

It wasn't necessary for now, though. Time was running out, and Romes knew as well as anyone where Tarrington and his boss would be in a month's time. "Next stop, Orvax IV," he thought to himself.

"You have done well, Lieutenant. Consider this a field promotion for your good works. I am expanding your areas of operation at this time to include further areas of expansion. I heard you had some troubles with a Ralltiir vessel, Lieutenant?"

"They kept stalking and skulking about in our area, constantly on my tail. We managed to split up and lose them all though, fortunately. On the downside, they cost me time in making extra runs. With the slave market coming up in the next month, I'd like to go out and try once more."

The giant cyborg nodded shortly to Tarrington's proposal. "Take your normal acquisition vessels out, as well as the pair of BFF-1s I acquired in your absence. As well, take some of the fighters as you need. I do not object to you splitting the forces. If the Ralltiir vessel stalks you again, lure them in... I will shadow you and we will deliver them a message."

Tarrington's face lit up at Rhygar's words. With a brief nod and a smile, the man turned about to begin snapping off his orders. In short time, he and his assigned forces would be back in space, heading out and away from a planet that was not Zonju V, but instead the meeting spot, leaving Rhygar to go his own way for the time being, but with a portion of the slaver's forces to shadow Tarrington.
