Dearest Sate Pestage,

The more and more I work within this new order, within the Imperial Senate. I am finding myself becoming more and more alienated by those who serve with me. In the past I have not liked many of the people who I have had the pleasure of serving with within these halls. But I have been seeing more and more chauvinistic behavior and words. Does the Empire, and the Emperor, not value the voice of women? If this is the case, which I fear it is, Garos will be forced withdraw from the Empire. I do not wish to do this but I cannot serve in a body where I am not respected, especially if the Emperor feels that way also.

I will not stand by and allow these men to imply things about my nature because I am a female, or to say that I need a strong parental hand to guide me. Anyone who knows my past, knows that no man has ever done anything for me nor will they ever. I am a fiercely independent woman and I cannot be in an environment where that is not respected nor appreciated.

Please advise me on what I should do.

Sincerely,
Ja’nar Cerra

Senator Cerra,

I feel I am obliged to inform you, politely, that worlds may not "withdraw" from the Empire. The Clone Wars, in my opinion, resoundingly answered the question of whether they are permitted to do so. However, I hope that you do not feel it necessary to. I give you my assurance, and that of His Majesty, that "male chauvinism," if you will, is not a formal policy of the Empire, and I would point out that those individuals in the Senate who made the remarks that you refer to have been admonished for doing so. I would refer you to my own remarks in that discussion, and reiterate them here; that all Senators are to be addressed with the proper decorum, including you. For indeed, Garos IV is as much an Imperial world as any.

I hope I have reassured you on this matter.

Regards.

Grand Vizier,

I hope you do not take offense to this but your assurance, that these chauvinistic actions and measures are not the formal policy of the Empire, means nothing. It is quickly becoming very apparent to the rest of the Garos Delegation and myself that it is the unofficial, informal policy of the Empire. I have never had the honor of meeting His Majesty or yourself in person, but I am fearful for my position as well as Garos IV’s position within the Empire. Garos IV has always been loyal to the Empire and we wish to play integral role within this government. But we cannot do this if these sexist remarks and measures continue to popup. It will turn the Senate into a hostile environment and I will not subject myself nor any of my delegation to that. You must understand that I am looking for the well being of myself and those who work closely with me.

Sincerely,

Ja'nar Cerra

Senator,

If I may say, it is good that your concern is with your people, and not yourself. Needless to say, it is no less tolerable to me than to you that anything should make the Garos delegation unable to, or uncomfortable with, representing its world. If you have any concern that this is the case—any concern at all, Senator—please do let me know. I am here to help, and I will see to it that the Empire appoints a Senator to Garos IV that is able to perform the responsibilities that you feel uncomfortable with.

Warmest regards.

I am not uncomfortable with any of my responsibilities. What I am growing more and more weary of is the male chauvinistic rhetoric that seems to be prevalent within the Senate chambers these days. The Empire WILL NOT need to appoint at senator for Garos IV nor will it be getting rid of me any time soon. These boys have another thing coming if they think for a moment that the females of the Empire will lie down and allow them to strip away our rights and dignity. I honestly just wanted to know your opinion on this matter, as well as that of the Emperor, to see if I must fight a completely up hill battle or not.

Sincerely,

Senator,

I am relieved to have your assurance that it will not be necessary to appoint a new Senator to Garos. Indeed, may your tenure in the Senate be long and, let us say, fecund. I assume from your assurance that you have no further concerns, as I have stated for you the Imperial policy on this matter. I hope that this day finds you well, Senator. Good day.

Regards.
