Senator Star,

I write to advise you that, having reviewed your world's trade ban on wool, cotton, and other constituent textiles of Vjun tunics, and having reviewed also your world's "environmental" reasons for doing this, the Commerce Committee has found that these reasons are insufficient to justify a ban on goods as common as these and, furthermore, are not supported as factual by any of the esteemed scientists that have testified to the Committee on this issue. Indeed, the Committee went so far as to commission the University of the Core to test the dyes used in Vjun tunics for contaminants, and none were found that would be detrimental to the Volusian environment, or people.

The Commerce Committee has prepared a resolution condemning this ban as an arbitrary impediment to free trade, and calling upon Volus to lift it immediately. However, since it is possible that your King has been misled by his advisers on this issue, I found it prudent, as chairman of the Committee, to inform you of this before the resolution is introduced this week and, therefore, to give your world the opportunity to lift this ban without the condemnation of the Committee or the resulting embarrassment for your world. Do let me know, when you can, if your world intends to lift the ban. I would, of course, advise it to do so.

Sincerely,

Senator Cambrist,

I have forwarded this message to the Volusian Prefecture and am expecting a reply shortly from them. Indications, however, show that if this science is indeed credibly and the science team, which to my knowledge never made it to Volus, found no evidence of damage or harm to organism LL-238392i, as the Volusian study showed, then I am sure that a repeal of the provisions in question will be made. However, the over all impact of the other items on the list, the outdated fuel and powercells can not be denied and as such those provisions will remain in place to protect the Volusian environment.

The committee's findings will be reviewed before any action is taken but if they are found to be accurate, which I don't doubt that they are, then the bans will be repealed. I thank you for the advance notice though and make it clear to you that in no way do the Volusian people take this lightly, any recommendation is always given its due study and implementation.

With Regards,
Senator Star
