Senator Kuriyoshi,

I am pleased that you have taken such a marked interest in my proposal for the Pediatric Medical Center. Despite the fact that I have none of my own, I absolutely love children, and their lack of specialized health care in the galaxy is a cause for great concern. As you know, children are much different than adults and the care that is required is sometimes much more extensive and time consuming, especially for those children of species other than human.

Your amendments to my bill were much welcomed by me. I appreciate the thought and the work that you put into each section of the article. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to keep your amendment in tact, the displeasure that Senator Cambrist expressed was disconcerting. Even though he and I clash on nearly every issue, his vote on this bill is very crucial to me. I worry that if he is in any way unhappy about any part of this proposal, that he will not stop until it is completely steamrolled, for lack of a better term.

I realize that I should not let someone as crass and unfeeling as Cambrist dictate this, but there are other senators of importance that he could influence. I do not want the children to suffer due to the lack of concern by one person. Money is the bottom line, Senator Kuriyoshi. Money and his fleet. Please understand.

That being said, I beg you to rescind the last part of your amendment in regards to the requirement of planetary fleets to aide the medical ships should they come under attack. The first part where you mentioned that the ships should have escort should be sufficient and I am sure that should the need arise, planetary fleets will come to the aid of these children and medical personnel, without the requirement by law. It is simply the right thing to do, and I know that deep down inside everyone, including Cambrist, they know what is right.

Senator, if you wish to discuss any of this in person, I would be more than happy to meet with you at your convenience. I have wanted to set a meeting since you arrived in senate, but I have been detained for longer than expected while dealing with another important matter in regards to Chandrila. I should be returning to Coruscant within the week. Please feel free to contact me directly, or my assistant to set up a meeting.

Sincerely,

Ilanah Thanatos

Senator Thanatos,

The People of the Cronese Mandate have already revised and resubmitted the amendment to your bill. It appears as though Senator Cambrist has already accepted it. However, views on keeping Senator Cambirst happy, merely because he would rather oppress the progress of helping people and giving them freedom is in its own fact disconcerting. Keeping people like Senator Cambrist happy, by stepping back from your ideals is also very unpleasing. It is the goal of the People of the Cronese Mandate to give more freedom to people, yet it would see that the Senate would rather oppress people, than to give up any sort of power or freedom to the people. This is a problem, and if it is to continue, I believe that the People of the Cronese Mandate will end up turning into an self sustaining sector, and blocking any trade and travel from our borders and becoming an isolated sector from the Empire.

The People of the Cronese Mandate above all support freedom of people, and recently with the Senate disapproving of any bill that would offer that freedom, has given concern to the Cronese Mandate. It would be a horrible choice to make, to become Isolated and cut off resource rich worlds from helping other bills that would need the resources. I am asking that you help keep the Senate from making any more bills that cut freedom from the people and keep them enslaved, by bowing down to the demands of tyrants like Cambrist.

Sincerely, Senator Kuriyoshi

Senator,

I am not sure that you understand exactly why I elected to ask to omit the third section from your amendment. The Pediatric Medical Center is not about the freedom of the people, but getting children the help that they require in order to live long and healthy lives. Granted, it is my wish for those children to grow up in a democracy where they are free to live their lives as they see fit. But as of now, that is not a possibility.

If you recall, I did vote in favor of the bill that you put forth in the senate. Unfortunately, it was steamrolled, was it not? Choose your battles, Senator. When someone like Senator Cambrist sets their mind to something, it does not matter how many votes you get in your favor, he will not stop until it is hounded into the ground, as you have seen.

I do agree with you that it would be terrible to cut the Cronese Mandate off from the rest of the galaxy. There are benefits to being a self-sustaining community, however. I doubt that the transition would go smoothly though. I wish you luck if that is your decision. Just remember that even though you may not think so, you do have friends and potential allies in this Senate. All you have to do is trust and ask. That is, of course, something that should be spoken of in a face to face setting.

Yours, in Peace,

Ilanah Thanatos

Unfortunately a face to face meeting is difficult to arrange right now. I have recently returned home to the Cronese Mandate and will be unavailable for some time. Spending time with my wife will take up the current bulk of my free time, as will seeing to the grounds of the estate. While yes there are servants and droids for that sort of thing, nothing feels better while relaxing like pruning a rose bush, or keeping up the large garden on the grounds. I will be remaining home for the following few weeks, and will be voting on any new bills from my office at home. I'm sure you understand the importance of spending time with your family. I will also have to speak to my wife who had recently brought up the question of coming to Coruscant with me. I however am still shaky on that thought and fear for her safety, although I do fear for her safety when she's not with me as well. In the coming days though it may be possible to have a face to face meeting with in the Cronese Mandate if you do not mind travel. I'd have my head bitten off by a very soft spoken woman if I just upped and went off so soon after coming home, which in itself is saying something about a very soft spoken woman.

Sincerely, Senator Kuriyoshi

Senator,

Forgive my ignorance, I was unaware that you were wed. I will interject my opinion, wanted or not, and advise you that Imperial Center is a very dangerous place. However, I am sure that your wife would be perfectly safe there, despite its many dangers. You must know the right people and the right places to be, and have good security in place. My Riley would be more than thrilled to recommend someone for her should you wish to bring her to Imperial Center. I will have him forward you a list of names should you be interested to bring her, and would like to interview security.

That being said, I am not sure that I would be able to make a trip as far as the Cronese Mandate, though I would enjoy to see it one day. I do have an alternative, however. Come to Chandrila. I am on my way there now. I assure you with every fiber of my being that it is safe there, as well as very beautiful. I am sure that your wife would love it! Not only that, it would be a good idea to see how she does before you take her from her home into a world as intense as Imperial Center.

Please do think about it.

Ilanah

She is a very strong headed woman, for one that also seems like the meek one out of the crowd. She would make a very powerful Senator, thats for sure. There's always been a quiet strength about her that I've admired. It may also be the reason that I've come to an agreement with her about taking her to Coruscant with me. Of course I've made the bargain that she'd be with a bodyguard when ever we're not together and she decides to go out. The thought of visiting Chandrila though does sound enjoyable. I'll have to bring it up the next time I speak with my wife.

Sincerely, Senator Kuriyoshi
