Dearest Moff Brandt-

I hope that my letter reaches you in good health and spirits and that all is well on Imperial Center. I have been away for a while and I admit that I have not been following the news or any goings on. I am not sure when I will be returning, but I do hope that we can meet in person when I get back. Perhaps for coffee.

The real reason I am writing, and I apologize that this is not just a cordial greeting, is in regards to a visit that was paid to Chandrila by an...how to put this.....agent of the Empire. An Inquisitor, to be precise. I know and I know that you know that I have done nothing wrong. Yes, I took a seat in senate that was disgraced by my predecessor, but have I done anything since then that would warrant an Inquisitor invading my private property and defiling my home?

Having suspicions and coming to talk and perhaps seeing my house is one thing, but being accused of treason is another. His methods, which I imagine are normal for those in his line of work, were completely out of line. Riley, my personal guard and pilot, is still recovering in hospital. The brutality of this Inquisitor seemed unnecessary, especially when Riley made no move against him.

Rainier, I know that I am still new in senate and do not have the ear of the Grand Vizier as I am sure you do, but I would be in your debt if you might mention this 'employee' to him. His name was Inquisitor Animus, if I heard correctly between threats. Someone completely innocent and loyal was injured and should not have been at the hands of this maniac.

Humbly Yours,

Ilanah Thanatos

Senator of Chandrila

Senator Thanatos,

My dear, if it is true what you say about the harm this man has done to your security guard, as I'm sure it is, you have my sympathy and my concern. I am familiar with this particular Inquisitor and have been critical of his methods in the past. Indeed, I recently asked that he not behave in this manner on Imperial Center, and I regret that he seems to have done so on Chandrila instead. I am relieved that you are all right, and your security guard too, of course. You were right to come to me, and not the police. I assure you I will immediately raise this matter with the Grand Vizier, who is more familiar with the mission of the Inquisitors than I, and has more influence over them, too. I'm sure he will agree that the harassment of a consistently pro-Imperial senator is uncalled for, and unnecessary. I am indeed quite sure that you've done nothing wrong, and should not be made to feel as if you have.

I would indeed like to meet with you again. In the meantime, do sleep well in the knowledge that this sort of intrusion upon your privacy and your peace of mind will not happen again.

Sincerest regards,

His Excellency, Rainier Brandt
Moff of the Imperial Sector (i.e. Coruscant, et. al.)

Rainier,

My deepest thanks for the squadron that was dispatched to my estate following my last letter to you. I realize that Chandrila is far out of your jurisdiction, but I have absolutely no doubt in my mind or heart that somehow you made that happen. They were incredibly courteous and respectful, something that most are hard pressed to be in this day and age.

I am afraid, however, that they will report a concern to you regarding a man that stopped by my estate just before their arrival. You see, when I began traveling a month ago, I brought a bounty hunter into my employ to protect from afar, in case something should have happened to my Riley. In this case, it did, and this bounty hunter was not there to do his job as he was supposed to be. When your troopers showed up, I was merely chastising him for his failure and he has since been released from my employ.

Perhaps next time I should choose a personal guard of good, Imperial stock, instead of an unreliable bounty hunter. I had heard praises of them, but I know better now.

I will not be returning to Coruscant until Riley is well. He is, after all, the only guard I trust with my life right now. I refuse to leave him behind, as he would never conceive to do as such to me. Until then, please accept my sincerest gratitude for your assistance with both the guard you have sent and the situation you are dealing with in regards to that Inquisitor. I do hope that he receives some sort of punishment for his actions.

Most Sincerely,

Ilanah

Ilanah R. Thanatos
Senator of Chandrila

My dear Senator,

A bounty hunter! Senator, you deserve better, and I hope that the diligence of the Imperial troops on the scene—for which I am indeed responsible, in part—has demonstrated that there is, in fact, better. I appreciate your gratitude, but it is not necessary. I wouldn't sleep at all if, after your ordeal this afternoon, I didn't do something to ensure your security. I only regret (if you will excuse my candor) that there does not seem to be a figure in your life who can provide this security and stability for you, so that you needn't resort to strange men. But I digress. I have spoken to your Moff Caglio, and he assures both you and I that your home will not be invaded again. I am relieved to hear this, as I'm sure you will be too.

Warmest regards,

His Excellency, Rainier Brandt
Moff of the Imperial Sector (i.e. Coruscant, et. al.)
