Dear Reuke,

I was just shocked that this Moff Verilia has attempted to defect from the Imperial Norm by influencing the Imperial Senate to help his Nephew, the suspected rebel Zarcaine. This is appalling.. a Moff attempting to help a rebel out of trouble by exercising influence on the Senate.. It is not seemly.

On another matter entirely, I have seen to the opening of the RimCo operation on Cona, I funded the initial opening of works as an.. amusing.. investment. I secured an agreement to just ship water from Bestine IV to sell rock bottom priced water to the natives in exchange for the rights. Cheapest deal we have ever made I fancy. I didn't fancy putting men on the ground on that hellhole so its an orbital mining operation, but this should secure us as one of the biggest operators on Cona. While I am greatly concerned that the expansion of larger corporations such as ours may push out smaller operators such as Nemlor Minerals (coincidentally owned by the recalcitrant Moff I mentioned earlier) out of business, I am sure it can only be good for the consumer and in the interest of free trade.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts. I must depart now, I have reservations at the Skysitter Resteraunt, and after that many petty indiscretions to commit in the boudoir of my second mistress!

My wife sends her regards.

Yours Sincerely

Hubert Ordan

Dear Ordan,

Well done. Even if it is outside of RimCo's usual area of operations, Cona was an opportunity simply too good to pass up. A world selling mining rights in return for water? It's laughable! (almost as laughable as the cumbersome method of "mining ice" to deliver to Cona, as some of our competitors are known to do. Surely, our method of collecting water from a vast sea is more practical. Even if one wanted ice, our method is more practical provided the water is frozen later, a simple task at that. But I digress). I also concur with your "light footprint" strategy for Cona, since it is indeed outside of the usual AO and thus, the fewer foundries, etc. we need to protect, the better. Even so, I have spoken with members of Brentaal's government and I've been assured that the Brentaal Defense Fleet will, if necessary, be used as an asset protection force (a significant amount of stock in RimCo being held on Brentaal, to say nothing of the many citizens of Brentaal who are RimCo employees).

You'll also be pleased to know that our regional headquarters at Sluis Van is fully staffed and operational, and I have secured the approval of the Commerce Committee to lease the Outer Rim "trading/relief outposts," now completed, to RimCo (with de facto authority over adjacent lands and peoples "for the purpose of facilitating commerce"). Thus, our operations now span eight sectors. I also continue to receive expressions of approval from the Imperial Palace owing to the, shall we say, unique services that RimCo will provide to the Empire (and at a generously discounted rate, of course).

On another matter, I do share your indignation at Moff Verilia's performance in the Senate. Verilia appears to be a morally bankrupt man with a manifest conflict of interest. For shame. He has only prejudiced me against Senator Zarcaine all the more, and I derive no small pleasure from the knowledge that our operation on Cona, as it turns out, will adversely impact his Nemlor Minerals (a company I've not heard of before and I don't suspect I will again).

Warm regards,

Reuke ur'Tsyne-Cambrist
