You have made yourself known to the Galactic Empire and yet have not petitioned for membership, it is a dangerous time for independant worlds and there will be many calls in the senate for your own to be annexed into the Galactic Empire with all due haste. Vjun is keen to be a friend to your world, and as loyal servants of the Empire will be happy to act in favour of your own interests as well as the best interests of the Empire.
Perhaps we could meet in order to discuss the many issues your announcement raises and in order to help cement our friendship.

We have not petitioned for membership largely because we wish to remain apart from from both Hapan Consortium and the Galactic Empire. I would be glad to meet with a Vjunite delegate and even consider Vjun to be the first trading partner, if all works out, with the Independent Hapan Nation.
We have no wish to bend the knee to any person, Senator. While we respect and admire the Galactic Empire and the good it has done for the galaxy, we wish to carve our own niche. Parein II is a remote world and the new seat of our capitol. We have wealth aplenty to purchase additional territories outside the Empire's sphere of influence if need be to expand. Nonetheless, a meeting would be beneficial to all.

You do risk alienating yourself with language of "bending your knee to no person". I must strongly urge you to at least extend your loyalty to the Emperor as your world's liege lord (even without petitioning for membership) and attempt to gain his assent to some nebulous status such as an "Independant Protectorate" or some other form of vassalage, to deny the Empire such is to leave your world largely friendless. Even if the Empire did not launch a strike upon your world (which it well might in the circumstances) you would risk being targeted by the Hutts etc.
I will be heading to your world presently, and look forward to being there in the next days, in the meantime I must suggest taking a very cautious route with the senate, so as not to disaffect any particular group.

I expect the Senate may well be a prickly bunch, but they cannot be worse than the Consortium's rulers. If, and only if it becomes necessary, will I consent to name our nation as a protectorate. We did not trade the yoke of tyranny to arrive and place another yoke around our necks, however light it may be. The Hutts worry us less than the Empire, truth be told. Our wealth is not so much in what we produce as in what we brought with us.
Indeed, I will remain cautious and mark my words carefully among the Senate, so as not to inflame ire against us. I look forward to meeting you, Senator, and wish you safe travels.
