Revan House
Ambassadorial Sector, Senate District
Imperial Center

To: The Honorable Earl Malreaux, Bernard Oriel
Senator of Vjun and the Nuiri Sector
From: The Honorable Lord Titus Veritas
Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector, Chairman of the Defense Committee

Subject: Defense

Encryption: Alpha Gold

While it has become apparent that we both have vastly different ideas when it comes to local defense, I am not above criticism nor hearing out my opposition. Thus, I write you to seek some ideas. Let us put the politics and drama of the Senate floor behind us, and work together. What are some things you would like to see done, in regards to local defense, and how do you believe the Defense Committee can be bettered? Also, what would you recommend, in regards to efficient policing and enforcement of the Capital Vessels Act?

Viceroy Titus Veritas, House Veritas
Consul of the House of Lords

Former Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector (50 BBY - 30 BBY, 18 BBY - 10 BBY)
Former Chairman of the Imperial Senate Defense Committee (18 BBY - 10 BBY)

Senator Veritas,

I don't think our ideas are grossly different - I just allowed you Deralians your holy grail - a Venator-class vessel with its main turbolasers intact.

I would recommend appointing more members to the Committee, experienced legislators with a history of effective work and a strong deputy head of the Committee, bring in people of varying opinions and political shades.

As for enforcement of he Capital Vessels Act II, it simply needs to be robustly enforced, the act provides a simple recipie to do so essentially relying on local government in the first instance - the only people I am aware have breached the act at present are Senator Zarcaine's Cronese Mandate and the guns on its Munificent and his Uncle Verilia who has illegal corporate vessels.

It is a simpler act to enforce, it constrains planets less and where new regulations have been introduced it is not your department enforcing them (by and large). Simply speaking it would be easiest to delegate a member of the Committee to head up enforcement and flag any breaches of the Act. The act should be applied fairly and uniformly.

You must agree that in comparison to Capital Vessels I we have vastly more robust legislation in place now which is fitted for the modern Empire we live in. I hope to work together with you to improve and streamline regulations where possible to make the Empire more slick and efficient than ever. I support a progressive ever improving Capital Ships legislation and hope that in the future we will be able to work together as a Senate to improve the lives and freedoms of the Empire's worlds, and Citizens, while protecting the Empire itself.

Regards

Bernard Oriel
Senator for the Planet of Vjun
1st Earl Malreaux (Second Creation)
Vjun Delegation to the Imperial Senate
