I have been thinking it over, and I would like to humbly suggest an idea for reform of the Deralian Military in order to avoid crises such as the one which we have been in lately.
1. Deralia would abandon the strategy of "putting all it's eggs in one basket" and reduce the importance of a single vessel in the defense of the world.
2. Deralia would form two "Carrier Groups", independent strike forces able to attack or defend as required.
Each would consist of:
1 Nebulon B-class Frigate - A flexible multi-role escort.
1 Escort Carrier - A carrier carrying a good sized complement of the new TIE Fighters.
1 Corellian Gunship - An excellent anti-capital ship and fighter vessel.
1 C3 Passenger Liner
This would give each "Carrier group" the flexibility to approach a world and effectively blockade it or launch ground assaults as required. It also has considerable anti-capital ship potential in the form of the Gunship and Nebulon-B Frigate. Together, the groups could easily conquer a world.
I would propose the C-3 liner be refitted as follows

Height/depth: 94 meters

Hyperdrive system: Class 1, Class 5 Reserve
Shielding Rated: 1000 SBD
Hull Rated: 868 RU
Armament
Four Quadlasers, Four Ion Cannons

Passengers: 1,000
Cargo: 1,000,000 Tons
Much of the passenger space would be ripped out and replaced with simple bunks. This would allow us to use 1/4 of the space, freeing up room aboard. This space would be used to mount greater hangar and storage space. Ion cannons and quadlasers would be emplaced at strategic locations across the hull, allowing for the maximum possible coverage. A portion of the freed up space would be used to add military grade shielding. In addition the hull would be reinforced with external armour plates.
This would have the effect of increasing the punching power of Deralia vastly beyond what it is now, due to prior reliance on a single ship model.
3. A Deralian Praetorian Squadron would be formed in order to help protect Deralia and its moons from assault, it would keep up a constant patrol. This would consist of:
1 Corellian Gunship (flagship)
4 PB-950 Patrol Boats
The Squadron would never leave the Deralian system and would have a mandate to defend the System from assault, repulsing terrorist raids such as the recent one on Celest.
Thus Deralia would be vastly strengthened while cutting costs.
