Subject: Injunction

Grand Vizier, It is a pleasure to speak to you, again. Only a few days, and it feels too long for someone I would dare say to call somewhat of a friend. I write this to you, in an unfortunate position. My world has had punishment, what I would call unjustified, levied against it for our actions at Dantooine. Despite complying to every demand made of us, we are being given financial fines, and even being forced into forfeiting our own defense assets from an already weak fleet in one of the most dangerous areas of space. Dantooine has been given any and all intelligence we have on the terrorist threats on their world, and in return we have received nothing but silence and have been shut out of the process; and as far as we can tell, Dantooine has no intention of dealing with this issue.
We have entire families that have been killed, and we have wanted is for those responsible to be brought to justice. However, we are the criminal in doing so. With the lack of confidence the Senate had in my service, I felt it was required of me to resign; this unexpected moment, as everyone in my constituency, including myself, thought I was one of the more respected members of the Senate, has left our constituency unrepresented. Representative Poplicola will do her best, as she is talented, but she is young; and she is someone who deals in only hard facts and absolutes. She would not act until every detail was clear, and frankly, the stone-walling by the Dantooine government left us without key information in addressing the concerns of the Senate. Thus, Representative Poplicola was unable to address the concerns within the Deralian Chastisement Act, which had already been on the floor for several days before her arrival to Imperial Center.
I wish not to take up too much of your time, so I ask, with our unfortunate situation, and with lack of proper representation and relevant information, I ask a favor of you. Is it possible for you to issue on injunction on the Deralian Chastisement Act and its recently proposed successor?
Viceroy Titus Veritas, House Veritas Consul of the House of Lords
Former Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector (50 BBY - 30 BBY, 18 BBY - 10 BBY) Former Chairman of the Imperial Senate Defense Committee (18 BBY - 10 BBY)

| Senator (emeritus) Veritas,
I'm surprised to learn it is a pleasure to speak with me, Senator. I assure you this is not generally the case. I did regret to see your departure, however; even in lieu of your position on the Defense Committee, the Empire would value you as an "elder statesman" on policy issues. The Empire also values its relationship with Deralia, being as it is the most cosmopolitan of the worlds of the Tammuz Sector. It is indeed unfortunate, and surprising, to see such ire befall your world simply because it acted in a justifiably bellicose manner to a world as insignificant as Dantooine, in which Deralia could have no possible interest except for the defense of its people. The Imperial Senate continues to advertise its illiberality.
That you misled the Senate about Deralia's operation at Dantooine doesn't trouble me. Indeed, one can't blame you for doing so. But there's little I can do about the resulting wrath of the Senate except, indeed, to delay the enforcement of certain provisions of the Chastisement Act provided Deralia intends to propose its repeal (and should it not be repealed, you must understand the Empire cannot delay its enforcement forever. Nor can it delay the enforcement of the Chastisement Act's successor bill—I suggest Deralia work to defeat this measure, as the Empire cannot ignore another call from the Senate for punitive action on Deralia).
As for these "certain provisions," I can commit to delay the enforcement of the Chastisement Act's requirement for Deralia to forfeit its gunship. I find the time limit for compliance to be rather unreasonable; surely, Deralia can't be expected to wipe the ship's computers, etc. in a mere 48 hours. However, I have no basis to deny the Senate the fine it has demanded of your King. It is a pittance, as I understand it; surely something the King can afford to pay in the interest of preserving Deralia's defensive fleet. I hope this is satisfactory, Senator. As I said, it is dependent on Deralia taking an active role in attempting to repeal the Chastisement Act and defeat its successor. Should either one of these not happen, the Empire will have no choice but to defer to the will of the Senate.
