There have been certain problems on Dantooine recently, but I can assure you that the world's militia is strong and ever mightily in pursuit of criminals. We are quite confident that there is no "terrorism" taking place on Dantooine.
I have a radical proposal for you. The Deralian Government has attacked us on our own soil, twelve of my militia are dead Sir, twelve. Those boys aren't going to come back and all they ever did was try and stop some terrorists. Equally, 24 civilians are dead from the pursuit, they were completely innocent bystanders just attempting to help the militia or happening to be on the same road as the Deralian strike team.
They have been spouting lies in the Senate about Dantooinians being terrorists - simple lies.
Thus, I submit this radical proposal.
1. You consult with our allies (Druckenwell, Vjun, Monor II etc) and see if they would support Dantooine as they did before.
2. Once this is done we issue a declaration of war against Deralia, until such a time as it agrees to pay for the widows and orphans caused by their botched operation. There is precedent for small incidents as cause for war. In order for peace to be reached we would require them to apologise and take full responsibility for the incident.
3. We call upon our allies to protect Dantooine from Deralian aggression once war was declared, meaning we have our fleet freed up for combat.
4. With our new ARC-170 Fighters and Gunship, we would have a huge advantage over Deralia. We could strike it's shipping all across the Outer Rim, if we comandeer some local freighters we can capture Deralian cargo and use the money to provide for the widows and orphans of those who died on the "Plains Road Massacre".
5. We can issue "Letters of Marque" to Independent Privateers, in order that they aid our forces in the conflict.
Frankly, this would be what is right. Deralia cannot be allowed to keep denying the murder of my militiamen and cannot be allowed to keep lying about Deralia. After their shipping is stopped, I believe they would learn the error of their ways and apologise.
This would also have the effect of giving us an "Outside Enemy" to fight. I know many good citizens are seriously upset by the taxes currently imposed upon the Empire on their farms produce. I believe that if we are able to say "Let's go show the Deralians for killing our people" we would create considerable unity and thus strengthen yourself, assuring your re-election next year and perhaps paving your way for a run for Sector Governor?
Even somehow Deralia did manage to "break through" and attack Dantooine, I am confident that with our excellent fighter corps and defensive lasers that we could drive them off alone. Furthermore, if the Deralians did land men, we would be able to slaughter them wholesale, no man is more fierce in a fight than a Dantooinian, and with as many men under arms as we have.
The Professional Militia now consists of 1,600 men, we further have 20,000 men in organised Militia equipped by the state. In addition to this, in the event of an attack I estimate that we could put 50,000-100,000 unorganised militiamen, reserves, police etc in the field with a blaster in hand inside three days.
Furthermore, Deralia has no allies - we have many. Deralia has a fleet completely unsuited for defending against hit and fade raids (it now just had three capital ships, which we would retreat from if we encountered them), their "battleship" can be turned against them, they have all their eggs in one slow and ponderous basket.
If we go to war with Deralia we cannot score a knockout blow. But we can win. But we could force them into a protracted, expensive war which would incline them to come to the negotiating table, at which talks I am confident that Dantooine would have a decisive advantage.
