Mr. Stark,

While going over the recent tax forms of your company Stark Defense Conglomerate certain discrepancies have arisen in the terms of numbers not adding up, merchandise listed as sold with secondary reports listing that same merchandise as missing and various other problems having arisen have required that the Imperial Taxation Bureau is opening an investigation to look into these problems. This investigation will cover not only the Stark Defense Conglomerate it will also extend to your other companies that you own Lorrd Engineering, Vigilance Technologies as well as their subsidiaries and any other companies that you own either through your main holdings or shell holdings. The investigation will also cover your own personnel funds including that of your fiancee Ana Riley. Until the investigation is completed the Imperial Taxation Bureau has ordered that all your assets including those of Ana Riley be frozen until the completion of said investigation.

I suggest you recheck your numbers, sir. You will find that all numbers do in fact add up. Due to SDC existing as a rather new company, we have been unable to properly procure, at this time, full defensive contracts with private security companies, leading to an unfortunate number of hijackings and piracy which, as I'm sure you know, are still quite an issue for deliveries along the Outer Rim where SDC sells many of its products. I believe it would be fair to say that issue lies with myself and does not call for a freezing of assets of myself, nor for my fiance, who is not connected with SDC or any of its affiliates.

Conduct your investigation by all means, Agent Barlov, but I will be in contact with local Imperial authorities to correct this matter of frozen assets. In the meantime, if there is any paperwork I can assist you with, please let me know. As well, Agent Barlov, you've made a small mistake: Lorrd Engineering is not my company; I am simply a shareholder. As such, I would note that Lorrd Engineering does not fall under your present investigation.

I would also inquire, Agent, why precisely my personal assets, as well as that of Miss Riley, are under investigation? As you state, 'certain discrepancies have arisen in the terms of numbers not adding up, merchandise listed as sold with secondary reports listing that same merchandise as missing and various other problems.' None of this pertain to my personal assets, nor the assets of the people connected to myself. Furthermore, I suggest, once more, that you check your paperwork.

The Imperial Taxation Bureau has rechecked the numbers, in fact, had the numbers not come up to our conclusion multiple times and only once we would have checked it up as a simple accounting error. However when the numbers dont match up after running them multiple times is when it was decided to investigate. The Imperial Taxation Bureau has dealt with other individuals in the past that have used hijackings and piracy as a means to hide their wealth from the Empire, a tactic which the Imperial Taxation Bureau is not fond of beings doing. Our own records are showing that you had more than enough time after the establishment of your company and before your first shipment to have contacted a private security group, or sent your vessels down the more patrolled and established hyperspace routes.

I will also note that Lorrd Engineering does fall under the investigation, as being the majority shareholder places you in the top of the company. It is being included into the investigation, along with your own finances and that of your fiancees to ensure that no funds are being diverted from any of the companies that are under your name, though foundation or being the major shareholder, or any funds being deposited in your fiancee's accounts. While it is your own decision to contact the local Imperial Authorities, though I'll remind you that the local Imperial Authorities have no say over the investigations of the Imperial Taxation Bureau.

As for any paperwork, to ensure that our records are up to date, we require all information on your company purchases, products sold, acquisitions of property (both on Lorrd and offworld) as well as all sales numbers for all companies that you have a stake in. This will greatly increase the ability for the Imperial Taxation Bureau to complete its investigation, at which point your assets as well as Miss Riley's assets will be unfrozen.

While I am sure there are a wide number of beings who attempt to defraud the government system, I can assure you that I am not one of them, and I shall gladly provide the paperwork necessary to defend myself. I will state, however, that the multiple issues of running a large company in addition to overseeing certain aspects of Lorrd Engineering and Vigilance Technologies, as well as being the major oversight for the nonprofit organization of GalacticAid and furthermore acting as Lord of the Kinyov Province and acting representative of Lorrd leaves me with little free time, much as it is to my disliking. You are also aware, I believe, that there are countless security and mercenary companies throughout the galaxy and I am not about to simply hire one without checking through a multitude of options and conducting my own background checks. Whether or not I have had sufficient time to hire a security company does not, I believe, fall under the oversight of the Imperial Taxation Bureau. Nonetheless, to rectify the problem, I am likely to be creating my own internal defense company within the Stark Defense Conglomerate.

You will find attached the list of products sold to legitimate businesses from all the companies that fall under Stark Defense Conglomerate or Lorrd Engineering, as well as my personal property.

*The attached list would include planets that had purchased drones from Vigilance Technologies before the law came into effect preventing their sale, an extremely long list from Prax Arms, Kelvarex Consolidated Arms, Brissalon Chemical Consolidated, Bacnor Armaments, GTU, Synthtech Medtech Corporation and subcontracted work from both Palandrix Personal Protection Gear and Pacnorval Defense Systems, Limited. Naturally, none of these products had been sold to Stark's illegal contacts and if the taxation agent wished to track down every legal purchase that had been sold to sub-dealers throughout the galaxy, they were welcome to do so. Likewise, a list of hijacked materials was sent on a separate sheet; Stark was hardly stupid enough to double book hijacked items and falsify records; such actions were easily traced and in that regard, the Imperial agent was incorrect. The facts and figures did match the correct books, largely in part because Stark did not falsify his records of illegal actions. He'd kept those quite separate. As of yet, he'd not laundered any money through his public assets, utilizing instead illegal methods and contacts from Blackfire. Records of private purchases would be listed as well; among them his very castle and property and several asteroids whose locations were not marked. The accompanying reason for this was 'security of research and development facilities.' In short, the taxation agent would be hard pressed, if not finding it impossible, to glean any illegal activities from Stark's public side.*

The investigation is still on going at this current time. However, during the investigation we've been given documents from various parties that have been labeled as consumers of your companies products. These documents are lawsuits being brought up by these consumers, as well as the families of your employees of the vessels shipping your products. Due to the on going investigation of your assets copies of these lawsuits were sent to the Imperial Taxation Bureau. As for these three asteroids that you've listed among your assets, a closer look is being taken on these assets as there is no record in our archives of these acquisitions.

Stark Defense Conglomerate has not been informed or served at this time by any lawsuits regarding the four hijacking attempts, which, I might add, only had one specific hijacking in which lives were, regrettably, lost, and ten lives at that. Furthermore, we have received no lawsuits from any consumers of our products at this time. Are you perhaps party to information that I am not aware of yet?

As for the asteroids, five of which, not three are listed, there is no specific inventory as they were purchased direct from the Kanz Sector Mining Office in accordance with Imperial documentation. The reason their locations are not specified is that they are currently home to Vigilance Technologies' research and development facilities and I prefer to keep widespread knowledge of their location quiet, largely to prevent corporate sabotage. The items listed, however, can be found with the attached sheet to this document in which the purchases are outlined and cleared.

You will imagine my surprise when my fiancée, Alyn, showed me your original communication in regards to not only his business finances, but also his personal assets along with my own. Needless to say, I feel very strongly that your investigation will be no more than a waste of your time, our time, and likely thousands of Imperial credits paid by your employer for your fruitless efforts. Before you go any further, there are a couple of points that you need to be aware of.

Firstly, you have no legal cause to freeze my assets for your investigation. I hold no stock or vested interest in SDC or any subsidiaries thereof. You may think me an ignorant girl, but I do know my legal rights. I have enclose a cease and desist letter drawn up by my attorney that you will adhere to until such time that you can show just cause for an investigation into my personal finances, of which you will find none.

Secondly, our legal defense team will be, in the next few hours, filing an injunction with the Imperial Courts seeking immediate termination of your investigation. This will be brought into a court of law and before a judge. Starks legal team has every financial record and holding for not only Alyns personal finances, but also his companies as well. There is not a decimal or credit out of place. And since Alyn handed you his records without complaint, and without you producing a proper subpoena for the items, you will understand the formal complaint that will be filed to your superiors.

I do hope that we do not need to take things any further than they already have, Agent.

Perhaps in the future it would be prudent to fight your own battles rather than allowing your future misses to do so in your stead. As I've already informed her, the investigation has been concluded and it is with this conclusion that the ITB is placing the number error on one of your employee's whom seems to have a difficult time keeping to the task of making sure your records are matching with no errors. As for your assets, as once more having informed your future misses, due to an internal furlough your assets will remain frozen for 48 standard hours, at which point an order will be given to unfreeze your assets. If they are not unfrozen within 24 standard hours of the order being given then I suggest that you contact your banking provider as it will fall unto them to unfreeze your assets.
