Your Excellency,

I am writing in regards to the article recently published by the Imperial News Network regarding Senator Tremaine Fowlkes. It may behoove you, sir, to perhaps have a committee check into the facts in relation to the erroneous article.

I only know a little of Senator Fowlkes, but I do know that he is an upstanding and honest man. He is kind and honest. I have met his fiancee, and it is obvious that he would have given his life for her, so for him to hire a prostitute is quite difficult to believe.

Moff Brandt, I realize that you do not know me, nor I you, but I beg you to please consider an investigation as to the facts of the article published. I fear that the name of a good man has been slandered.

Sincerely,
Ilanah Thanatos

Senator,

As the Moff of Imperial Center and, more pertinent, as a director of the Institute for Journalistic Integrity, I take this accusation seriously. Rest assured, there will be an investigation—if and when there is any reason to doubt the Imperial News Network's reporting, that is. I'm acquainted with the author of the article, she is the Imperial Center correspondent for INN, and I've had no reason to doubt her before. I'm quite aware of your history with Senator Fowlkes. Moreover, you're aware that I'm aware of this, so there needn't be this pretense about you not knowing the Senator or not knowing me, despite the correspondence we've had in the past.

Perhaps, Senator, your personal and professional relationship with Senator Fowlkes has clouded your opinion of the man. For a Senator of Telos IV, he was rarely in the Senate or on Telos IV. It's not surprising to me in the least to learn that he spent his time, and his people's money, on prostitutes. We've long been aware of so-called "accounting errors" at the Senator's company, LGMC, Inc., in which tens of thousands of credits disappeared from the company's books. (Exotic sexual services can be quite expensive, so I'm told.)

The article in question was kind enough to the Senator's memory to not mention these "accounting errors," nor the Senator's extra-marital associations with notoriously loose women such as Senator Cerra. Odd, considering his apparent fondness for equine species. But knowing now what you do, Senator, you must see that your late friend, Senator Fowlkes, wasn't as noble (or pure) as he portrayed himself.

But naturally, if any discrepancies in the INN's reporting come to light, the Institute for Journalistic Integrity will look into them.

Sincerely,

His Excellency, Rainier Brandt
Moff of the Imperial Sector (i.e. Coruscant, et. al.)

Your Excellency,

I beg forgiveness, though I am told that you know everything that happens on Imperial Center, but I seem to be missing something that you insinuated in your communication. You see, during the Droid Revolution, I suffered a minor mishap that has left some rather....fuzzy patches in my short term memory. Luckily it does not affect my work, but apparently I know people that I cannot recall, and vice versa. So if you are telling me there was a personal relationship between Tremaine Fowlkes and I, there has to be some kind of mistake. I have been married since I was eighteen, so my husband tells me. Are you quite sure of that fact?

That aside, he was my friend and colleague, despite the fact that you believe him to be some sort of man-whoring scoundrel. I would hate to believe that about anyone. It is almost as bad as accusing him of being a rebel!

On a more personal note, Your Excellency, when I return to Imperial Center next, I would love to have you for dinner. Perhaps it will help jolt my memory some more.

Sincerely,
Ilanah Thanatos
