To: Director of the Imperial Security Bureau

From: Mr. Shakou, CEO Doragon Kumori Technologies; Iope

Director,

It has come to my attention through the boasting of a Mr. Stark, currently the representative of Lorrd that he has by some means acquired the clearance needed by the ISB and BoSS to travel into the Deep Core. This however troubles me that a person from the Outer Rim should have such clearance to travel in the Deep Core which is surprising considering his most recent record of endangering lives during the Droid Uprising on a mission to increase his glory and only to increase his glory in which he broke the law of the Imperial Center security forces. I am requesting the information of Mr. Stark's clearance from both the ISB and the BoSS due to my belief that he is a danger to the Deep Core worlds.

Signed,

Yoru Shakou

Mr. Shakou,

My name is Rath Deschain, and my rank within the Imperial Security Bureau is of no real consequence. However, from time to time, I monitor direct communiques to the Director, especially when they concern matters of the Deep Core and largely for the purpose of incidents that may or may not concern Jedi who've escaped to the Deep Core during the purge. However... the Director is a very busy man and I believe I can settle this matter without seeing the need to bother him from his job in keeping the Empire safe from legitimate threats.

First and foremost, Mr. Shakou, as a Senator-elect of Iope and as a CEO of a company on the aforementioned world, you do not have the security clearance or the right to request to see the clearance of any other being who has currently been granted clearance by the Galactic Empire. That being said, the man in question, Mr. Alyn Stark, may be a fool and his stunt during the Droid Uprising may or may not have been in good intention or it may have been a foolish public relations act. Either way, it is not my place to care or decide. However, his clearance was granted for legitimate reasons. While you may believe he is a danger to the Deep Core worlds, and frankly, I do not see how one arrogant businessman is such a danger to every world in the Deep Core, the Empire has not viewed him as such.

If you have any further questions, I am more than willing to speak with you on behalf of the Imperial Security Bureau.

Kind regards,

Rath Deschain

Mr. Shakou,

I must first correct my esteemed colleague, Mr. Deschain; he is part of Intelligence, not the Security Bureau. You may consider his assessment the opinion of Imperial Intelligence, not the Imperial Security Bureau. Mr. Shakou, you are not revealing anything new to me. I know who has access to the Deep Core, I know that Mr. Stark has access, I know before he made such a public revelation in the Senate chambers, although I would have known before this message due to such a public action regardless, I knew in the fallout of his actions during the Droid Uprising, I knew before that even. While vigilance is a trait I admire greatly in the general populace, it is even more helpful for informants to forward information that is not blatantly obvious.

While I am pleased at your concern, I'm afraid you do a disservice to myself, my agency, and the Empire in assuming this is something we have not already considered months ago when the event in question occurred. This is not the Republic, the job actually gets done around here. In addition, you do not have anywhere near the security clearance to have access to such information you have requested; it is rather presumptuous of a third-rate world's head of state to demand information privileged to the upper echelons of the galactic government, let alone a head of state who operates a government similar to that of the Separatists that I have spent a life-time ending.

Until I have legitimate reason or suspicion to do so, Alyn Stark will be left alone. If you are able to obtain information that is not publicly known, that you believe I would not be aware of, feel free to forward it in a similar fashion. While I am grateful for your effort, and touched by the sentiment, your time has been wasted in this endeavor. Also, you can contact me for any further inquisitions you may have regarded the Imperial Security Bureau. Have a nice day.

Mr. Shakou, Director Crowe,

There are a number of points I must clarify on behalf of Imperial Intelligence (please note I say "on behalf of Imperial Intelligence" as one who is involved in setting agency policy rather than simply carrying it out, and thus able to speak on this with authority). First, Director Crowe, be assured there is no stated Imperial Intelligence policy of listening in to correspondence from other agencies, including the ISB. We'll look into how this occurred. Second, Mr. Deschain, whose function in Imperial Intelligence needn't be specified, is suffice to say not a public relations officer and isn't authorized to speak "on behalf of Imperial Intelligence."

However, I can say authoritatively that Mr. Deschain's statement does roughly state the policy of Imperial Intelligence on this matter. The Deep Core is a security zone, yes, but it's also a place where people live and trade. Empress Teta, for instance. It's not uncommon for residents of the Deep Core to have clearances to travel to and from certain planets. Certain planets, not Imperial fortress worlds. The Imperial Hyperspace Security Net prevents abuse of these clearances, so any potential danger from Mr. Stark or other civilian travelers in the Deep Core is low indeed.

General Olsen.

Deputy Director Olsen,

I believe I may owe you an apology for any eavesdropping that occurred. It is, of course, part of my job to aid and assist in the facilitation of the work undertaken by Imperial Intelligence, the branch I serve notwithstanding. We are, and always will be, one Empire, one rule, one force, under the Emperor's benevolent guidance.

Long live the Emperor!
