Hello old boy,

Word is that you said something all the media is saying means you side with Lorrd in this dispute between most of the worlds I govern and Lorrd.

I am also being told by other people that you just meant that you would enforce a ceasefire while it is in place (agreed to be until negotiations end), which is what I've committed to.

I don't think we should be taking sides, I understand you're not a fan of Hector's antics and have a fondness for Lorrd, but he's guaranteed not to damage any civilian areas, cultural buildings or industrial areas. I hope your quote was merely taken out of context.

We're inviting dissent from the many worlds which regularly make military deployments if we offer unconditional protection to worlds from their peers. I realize I may sound callous, but it's a mean Galaxy and survival of the fittest has to have a role at some point.

If planets break the law (I'm of the opinion no laws have been broken here, but a loophole is clearly exploited)

Legal Argument

General Sanction for Inter-Planetary Hostility
Intra-Imperial Relations Act Section 2 Article I. Imperial worlds may use force against other Imperial worlds, and "unaligned" worlds,

Acts of hostility require Imperial permission - you did permit the action by Lorrd in cleansing these troublesome folk out? However, there is no law stating that an act that is permitted by law may not be countered militarily - just as the Deralian attack on Dantooine was sanctioned by the Empire but still many flocked to it's defense.

"Notification of the use of force need not be provided if it is the direct consequence of A.) a use of force that the Empire has already permitted"

The Auril Union forces are thus technically within their rights in Imperial Law.

As Sector Governors we swear an oath to uphold and govern under the Law of the Empire, and it is protocol and convention that we only mitigate those laws in exceptional circumstances and where it serves the Empire.

Lorrd is a world you like, but I believe it's inappropriate to permanently garrison it at the cost of the taxpayer - you're a younger man than me so let me give you a few words of advice I've come to value over the years - that is not to pick a side in the squabbles of your lessers. An officer of the law doesn't pick a side if men are brawling - it is his and our job to be better than them, stand above them, and use more delicate means to solve conflict. Ships are blunt instruments, as can be threats - use them only rarely and with discretion is my advice.

If you do not intend to militarily align yourself with Lorrd then I apologize if I have seemed to lecture you.
