| To Whom it May Concern,
My world has long been prominent in it's active role in humanitarian and patrol activities in the Outer Rim. However, we now would like to begin to help make those operations begin to pay for themselves. The most logical course of action is to prospect and mine resources, however as we don't wish to commit personnel to this while they are concerned with more important duties we require totally automated ships for this purpose.
We disapprove of militarized drones, to be frank. This is not to say though that we would shun their manufacturer if they are able to offer us an excellent product; and while we formally protest your production of weapons (urging you to sell the arms business and concentrate on your other ventures) we recognize that your company does have a well regarded "Drone" research department.
We'd like you to design us a wholly automated Drone Mining Ship.
Requirements:
- Able to explore and prospect of it's own accord - intelligent enough to signal for help or react evasively etc in hostile situations.
- No greater length than 250m.
- No weapons (obviously mining lasers are required but aren't weapons in themselves - the units should not be programmed for their aggressive use) on the barge or drones aside from point defense Ion cannons (automated wholly independent subsystems) on the barge itself.
- Carrying drones capable of prospecting as well as mining.
- Able to harvest solids, liquids or gasses.
- To be equipped with tractor/repulsor beams.
- Carrying no less than six autonomous mining units.
- Cargo mass capacity of at least 200,000 metric tons.
- Cargo volume capacity of at least 131,000 cubic meters.
- Able to house ten humans for at least three months (in the event the ship discovers shipwrecked people.
- One ten man escape pod.
- For the aesthetic of the barge to be simple (so it does not attract attention from pirates by it's sophistication) in line with common galactic trends.
- For the details of the sale to be kept confidential - if the design becomes a line of ships then we don't wish to be used in advertisements etc.
We wish for designs to be produced as soon as possible for the earliest possible ordering of the ships and earliest completion date. Should you be able to produce a satisfactory design, we are willing to be flexible and generous on prices if completion can be rapid. Initially we would likely be interested in purchasing three such ships.
On another matter, the Aegis Fleet Resource Division has pledged to donate a percentage of it's profits from the use of mining craft to the Interstellar Children's Aid Fund; perhaps your own corporation or it's owner would consider becoming a patron of a charity which provides an immense difference to the lives of impoverished children of all species across the Galaxy.

When your report crossed the desk of one of the junior staff, I took a personally vested interest in it. Of course, Alsakan is always a welcome customer of Vigilance Technologies and of the Stark Defense Conglomerate. Understanding of course our differences and those differences aside, it's quite possible and more than able for such a drone to be produced to those specifications. I will speak to the design team today and have something for you as quickly as can be processed.
Furthermore, the SDC would be willing to donate to the Interstellar Children's Aid Fund; I assume, of course, that by saying 'children' instead of 'younglings' that this fund is specifically for children of Human descent.

When might we expect these designs?
The fund helps children of all races, but as it is run by humans and humans are the most common species, the majority of it's work is with Humans.
