THE MIGHTY MONNOK, VOL. I
A Voice of the People

The Imperial Center Bombing: An Equal And Opposite Reaction

Horror has come to Coruscant—horror not seen since the Clone Wars that His Travesty, Emperor Palpatine, promised us were over. "We have brought order to our new Empire," boast the Imperial tyrants. But clearly, they have not. If anything, the Empire is responsible for what happened on Coruscant. We resistors are warriors of conscience, and do not condone this bombing or the murder of innocent men, women, and children. But isn't it clear that the Empire's iron fisted rule, which displaces and disenfranchises those who disagree, those who are poor, those who are not human, only makes these beings more desperate? Is anyone surprised that beings who have lost everything to the Empire—their homes, as on Coruscant, their bank accounts, as on Ralltiir, or their family, friends, and self-respect—are fighting back?

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. And yet the Imperials condemn the bombing as if their own hands are clean! The Imperial genocide at Caamas, the massacres at Ghorman and Renatasia, and the enslavement of Mandalore show us how little moral credibility the Empire has to denounce atrocities. They also show us that one cannot reason with the Empire. One must fight it.

Carratos: The Next Atrocity

The Empire is a theocracy. It is ruled by the Sith; Emperor Palpatine and his hound, Vader, and their sinister, secretive Inquisitors and "Hands." They are the religious rivals of the Jedi, and already we have seen the horror of this religious rivalry in the Imperial slaughter of hundreds of Jedi at Kessell, Kashyyyk, Naboo, and many other worlds. These are massacres that put even the Separatists to shame. For the "crime" of giving food and shelter to a single Jedi, for example, the Empire killed every man, woman, and child on Talasea. If you don't believe it, go there tomorrow and see if you find a single living being on the planet.

Is anyone surprised, now, that the Empire is bullying the planet Carratos because members of the Fallanassi—another Force sensitive religious order that is seen as an enemy of the Sith—are hiding there? Does anyone doubt that Carratos will be the site of the next Imperial atrocity? If you don't doubt it, what will you do about it? Will you stop the murder of innocent beings who have done nothing wrong? The only way to stop it is if we all resist the Empire, everywhere. Resist it on your world and support the resistance on other worlds, such as Chandrila, Corellia, Alderaan, Dressell, Duro, Socorro, and Mandalore. Innocent lives depend on you.

The Imperial Senate: Politics As Usual

The Imperial Senate is back in session and already it is politics as usual. The Emperor's agenda for the session calls for 1.) a condemnation of former Senator Mon Mothma for daring to speak out against the Emperor's tyrannical rule, 2.) standing authorization for the Imperial fleet to conquer primitive peoples as it pleases, 3.) the inundation of the galaxy with weapons of war, to further satiate the Imperial war machine, 4.) a condemnation of the planet Carratos for having done, quite literally, nothing, and 5.) an endorsement of the Empire's speciesist policies of forcing aliens on Coruscant into poor and crowded ghettos, while seizing their property and selling it to white, wealthy humans.

There was some, small hope that new members of the Senate—Tremaine Fowlkes of Telos IV, Ilanah Thanatos of Chandrila, and Exar Ray of Dantooine—would stand up against this madness. This hope didn't last long; all three of them swore an oath to uphold the Empire's racist, speciesist, sexist New Order policies, and not to criticize them. But as long as there is Ja'nar Cerra of Garos IV and Artemis Vanden of the Naboo, perhaps there is still hope. These two, as well as Bail Organa of Alderaan and Garm Bel Iblis of Corellia, continue to be lonely voices of reason in the Imperial Senate. But remember, they may stop the Empire's agenda, but only we can stop the Empire, together.

The Mighty Monnok

The Mighty Monnok is not the voice of the people, because the people can and should speak for themselves. We are a voice of the people, representing the popular resistance throughout the galaxy to the Empire's unjust rule. We are not Separatists, we are not murderers. We are warriors of conscience. The Monnok is our symbol—they are fearsome desert predators that, when agitated enough, when taunted enough, when pushed enough, will band together to defend themselves. Legend has it that Monnoks are also a sign of a dangerous, but rewarding journey to come. Resistance to the Empire is a long and dangerous journey, but what can be more rewarding than freedom for yourself and for your children? Wake up, citizens! Band together, as Monnoks do, to preserve the freedoms that we cherish before the Emperor takes them all from us. It's not too late! Do your part, resist the Empire on your world!

And to the Imperial hounds who will try to trace this transmission: don't bother. We're bouncing The Mighty Monnok across a dozen of your holonet transcievers. You will not find us, at least not that way. But here is a hint for you, dogs: the weather outside is frightful.
