It was the merriest afternoon in Garang for many a month and the barbecue cookers were filling the central square, several tables, 50 seats on each side were set up in the town square, and table half the length was on the wooden podium which had been built overnight by some of the boys from the Eel estate. The smell of delicious barbecue sauce flowed all throughout the town as the larger cookers were fired up.

Some of the local boys were sitting on one side of the square comparing some of the weapons they had assembled on their farmsteads to stave off the vicious fauna in the region, some sporting rifles taller than themselves, capable of felling Bantha and Rancor if need be.

From the Eel Brewery, a tanker rolled into the square as individuals began to take their seat at the tables, carrying a full load of the frosty ale that had become popular for its low radiation content and low price throughout the sector "StoneKey Draught" was truly the semi-councious man's beer. A warm cheer greeted this vehicle entering the town centre. Some of the older gamekeepers and wiser ones were discretely posted throughout the town, mostly staying fairly councious and organising the distribution of alcohol, in addition to security.

"I'd have the taps flowin' with the stuff if I could!" Eel said as he greeted the Head of the Dantooine Chamber of Commerce, one Jamulon Tiure, a gross Hutt who had for the last 8 years won the All Dantooine Home-Stlyle Cookout's First Prize for Gluttony. Leaving the Hutt after a friendly, exchange, Eel walked up to the podium and took his seat with the assembled friends, family and dignitaries. Men in Imperial Uniform were given places of honour, and the Imperial Flag flew nobly, fluttering in the gentle breeze above the flag of the Khoonda, on its right, and the flag of the sector on its left.

Eels Cousin, the Lawyer, Lionel Eel stepped up and took hold of the microphone, tapping it a couple of times to get everyones attention "Ladies and Gen'lemen, Please be upstanding for the Imperial Anthem." the band, not used to the tune (rather, not used to any tune than the stock country favorites on dantooine) made a very enthusiastic rendition of the tune. Every figure in the square was upstanding, their hats removed and placed on their hearts as many wept, remembering the bad times on Dantooine only recently in the Clone Wars, and how the Empire had brought them a degree of peace and prosperity alike the old days.

After the tune was finished there rose a cheer and applause from the crowd, as a pair of the Eel Estate's Airspeeders skimmed overhead at quite a rate, each having had its cropsprayer converted to fire a gunmetal grey trail, the color of the Empire.

After the cheering had died down, the band remained silent and Lionel gestured to Trebor "And now the General here, the founder of the feast, would like a few words, before we begin our celebrations!"

Trebor Eel smiled awkwardly and stood, taking the microphone from Lionel "Evenin' Gen'lemen, I'm not one for flowery speeches and suchlike. Now I may be detatched from the folk such as you Crazy" he nodded to "Crazy" "Doc" Danson, the Barber and Doctor for Garang "Or you Cletus" he nodded to the surly head of a group of youths who worked in his brewery "But even I can see that y'all ain't been too happy with the way things been going under Administrator Ray. He ain't been treating you proper, thats what some have said, and I hope that I will be able to bring us all together as one people, breath the same air" he sniffed "And certainly eat the same barbecue! So I hope y'all will appreciate a little somethin' old Exar had done for us"

He smiled as the crowd keenly listened, some ready to boo at the positive mention of Exar "I just got done talking to old Exar this mornin' and he had guaranteed us the reinstatement of Dantooinian Rights, Culture, Traditions and Institutions. The preservation of justice and the ancient liberties accorded by the creator to the freemen of Dantooine. This means that there will be no more SEICD, instead our government will resume its traditional name. Naughty children" he threw a stern look at Peter Medlicott, a rather wild Garang youth "Will be sternly and lovin'ly chastised. But I have the most fervent hope that our Administrator has seen the wisdom of moderation and intelligence, and will not insult us and punish us all with a curfew that punishes us all.

Now, I have gone on too long, and there is plenty of good food awaitin' your attention. But if I may raise one more thing, were holdin' a collection for the Emperor's Birthday to help raise him a mighty fine gift from Dantooine, if y'all could be generous, we would all much appreciate it. Thank you very much and have a mighty fine evening"

He then returned to his seat as the band struck up and the orgy of eating and drinking began, there would be many hours of this, as he returned to his chair and spoke affably with one of his neighbours, his eye cast down the table, and he couldn't help noticing Administrator Ray was not yet present.

Unfortunatly for Exar, he couldn't take part in all the fun and excitement that the General had established during the afternoon. With the many changes to the Khoonda Administration, things were loaded for Exar. So in his stand, he sent out the Lieutenant of his Militia in his place. A speeder bike would show up in the middle of the festival and the Lt. would remove his helmet and place on his beret. Looking at the crowd, he would get off of his speeder bike and then proceed to the podium. His jumpsuit with Dantooine Plains camouflage would cover his body. His name above his right breast pocket would display his name, known only as Khutz. On the other side, would display Khoonda Militia on it. And on the professional collars, would be a single black bar on each, to display his rank. Grabbing the microphone, he spoke into it.

"Good afternoon ladies and gents, I'm Lt. Khutz, of the Khoonda Militia. I come in Administrator Ray's place to decree a few changes." Pulling out a data-pad from his poncho belt, he begun to read. "By order of the Khoonda Administration, the following goes into effect right away:"

1. The curfew his hereby removed
2. SEICD will no longer exist
3. As of this moment, the Khoonda Administration will take effect at once
4. Dantooine will continue to support the Empire, but on it's own terms.

Once the Lt finished speaking, he put the data-pad away. "Thank you, and have a good day." He'd make his way past everyone and get back on his speeder bike. Taking off his beret and placing on his helmet, he would start the speeder bike and rev the engine, taking off into a full speed back towards the Khoonda building.

The insurgents were poised to make a statement. A decisive strike, as it were. Five men had drawn short straws, so to speak, and the promise had been given that any family members they had on other planets would be taken care of. Shiva himself had promised them and the men felt... strangely compelled by the man. One of the men was on a highish rooftop; highish, that is, for a Dantooine building. His weapon used no scope, but the sights were properly aligned and ready. It was, additionally, a slugthrower, so no laser blast would be seen. His target was the speeder-riding man's back who was moving at a decent clip and heading back towards the primary Khoonda building. His weapon would bark once as he lined up the middle of the man's back with unerring accuracy before sliding his weapon slightly to the right and firing upon the good ole' boys who sat and compared weapons.

The other four men, already prepared outside the town with a speeder rigged with an E-web, roared their vehicle into life and sped towards the outskirts of the town, one man firing indiscriminately while one drove and the other pair fired blasters. As they shot, they screamed out, "Death to the traitors who join the Empire!"

"Death to the traitors who join the Em—" and with a sudden, wrenching thud, the gunner would be thrown to the bed of his truck as the vehicle was rammed from behind by another, nondescript speeder, this one a van. The would-be terrorists had made the mistake of spraying one of Njon the Hutt's wine distilleries in their indiscriminate carnage, and Njon's man in charge of the operations on Dantooine, a Trandoshan appropriately named Sturm, was in a rage. Dantooine was not particularly profitable for the Hutt Cartel, and indeed, Njon had only two fronts here; the wine distillery, and a speeder rental dealership. The second of these proved rather useful in this instance, since Sturm, amid the broken glass of the distillery, simply called ahead to the dealership and had them put together an answer for these terrorists.

The side door of the van opened, and a Gran with a repeating blaster rifle leaned out and opened fire on the exposed truck. Another one—a Wookiee—opened up from the front passenger seat, heedlessly blasting out the windshield of the van as he pummelled the terrorist's speeder with red, hot death. Additionally, a top hatch on the roof of the van opened, and a Weequay, also with a repeating blaster, added his fire to the rest. Bumper to bumper, the Hutt's speeder tried nudging the other speeder to the left, which, if it worked, would cause it to spin wildly to the right.

The sniper would find his style considerably cramped, the group of hunters armed with oversized rifles sitting to one side of the festival were well used to hunting prey which also did not leave laser blasts and were able to work out the direction of fire while moving into cover around the beer tanker, the riflemen then simply did what they had always done when hunting, took aim at the sniper and fired, a dozen blaster shots firing towards the man with reasonable accuracy, and several others filling the air around him.

General Eel also pulled his blaster from its holster and leapt off behind the platform, Lionel following him as he ducked down and pulled out his communicator. "Stigs, Riley, theres some boys in town being real discordant, if y'all would come back and keep an eye out for us i'd appreciate it muchly." Eel spoke disgustedly, then striding towards the group returning fire on the sniper, fearlessly of his fire to set an example, he was horrified, surely no dantooinian would do this?

The airspeeders then turned back towards town and quickly skimmed overhead, targeting the vehicles of the troublemakers moving around shooting and raining fire down upon them.

The sniper was overcome rather quickly, but not before being able to get off a good half-dozen shots. The citizens were hardly hardened soldiers, after all, and it still took time to find a shooter's location when they were not easily visible and had cover as the man did. Nonetheless, one of the shots did get lucky and he slumped on the rooftop, a clean hole through his skull.

Those in the speeder were certainly surprised when they were rammed from behind. The crew were former soldiers though, and even as the driver spun the wheel to the right and cut acceleration abruptly (to cause the van to pass by them, as was hoped, thereby negating the rear bumping), the pair of passengers opened fire with their blaster rifles on the enclosed speeder. One man was hit in the arm as he aimed for the driver and the other was shot dead, but the gunner reached up and swung his weapon indiscriminately, firing while using the weapon for cover as he sprayed the van as best he could at such a close range.

The fire from overhead was expected, but hardly that soon. The speeder took a hit and the rear began to smoke and slide badly to the left. Apparently a stabilizer had been struck.

Cutting acceleration while turning sharply to the right would only have the effect that the Hutt's men had intended; to strike the Separatist speeder from behind and at an angle; a common technique of law enforcement which Njon's people, having some experience in evading the authorities, had picked up. The result was that the Separatist speeder would spin out. It wouldn't make much difference with Trebor Eel's airspeeders closing in on them, but it would make it harder for the Separatists to hit the van with any amount of accuracy (at least until they straightened out or, more wisely, hit the brakes altogether). The shots at the driver would go wild and one of them would hit the Wookiee instead, which seemed to have the effect of making it angrier. The Separatists would succeed in hitting the Weequay at the top hatch of the van several times in the chest, however. He slumped onto the roof of the van, his rifle clattering onto the street.

By the time the airspeeders made their run, the van had slowed nearly to a stop so as to concentrate its fire on the fleeing (or attempting to flee) terrorists. They would have a moment of brutal, unimpeded fire on the terrorists before crimson lasers from the airspeeders tore through the van like tin foil. The driver and the Wookiee in the front seat were killed. The driver's foot slumped onto the accelerator and what was left of the van veered sharply off the side of the street, lumbered onto the curb and over a fire hydrant, and came to crash through the glass facade of a first floor jewelery shop. The Gran, the only one of them still alive, had been thrown clear of the van and found himself on the street. He did the sensible thing; he abandoned his rifle and ran.

The day was saved, thanks to Trebor Eel. The people of Dantooine were safe, but it did beg the question: where was the Khoonda militia? And why was Dantooine, a planet that had only just today begun to distance itself from the Empire, targeted in this way? Is this what happened to planets that defied the Empire?
