Senator Vanden was not at home. Nor would he be expected to be considering his position and all that was going on in his life. He was a busy man and his life offered many distractions that Ana was grateful for him to have. She worried all too often when she heard him pacing in the middle of the night, although some of those nights, the two had their best talks. He confided in her, and she in him. She wouldn't really call it a relationship, as it would be defined in normal society, but there were feelings there that had not been spoken or expressed. While he was gone often, she did always look forward to his return, and made sure that his household was running smoothly and the place was spotless and that the chef had prepared Artemis' favorite meal. He seemed to feel the same when he came home. The staff were mostly in bed in the servants quarters in the building out back, having worn themselves out after daily tasks and then free evenings to do with what they pleased, except the night guard. There were two of them, human males native of Naboo, that kept watch over the estate. Ana had insisted that it wasn't necessary, but Artemis felt otherwise, and did not feel comfortable leaving her in that manor alone for such extended periods of time. Even with the staff living not two hundred yards away, the guards had been hired.
It was after midnight when there was a knock on the door on that stormy evening and Ana was still awake. She had been watching the rain streak across the window panes of the drawing room as she sat by the fireplace. The knock echoed through the large, empty manor and Ana got to her feet, smoothed the silk of her open robe that partially covered her nightgown, and moved towards the door. The security guards met her in the hallway, having arrived from the other end of the house, and she held up a hand. "I am fine." Ana murmured, though they lingered close anyway. Just in case. It was their job, after all.
Ana opened the door and when she saw the soaked woman standing there, her normally pleasant expression darkened. Of course she knew who the woman was, despite her haggard appearance and disheveled clothing. Artemis had confided in Ana everything regarding the young Queen of Garos IV, including the 'relationship', or lack thereof, that the two had in the past. She had stopped speaking to him entirely, and as a result, Artemis had ended up hurt. That was something that Ana did not take lightly. She was, aside from the woman who ran his household and kept his affairs there in order, feircely protective of the Senator.
"Senator Vanden is not at home, Ms. Cerra." Ana said, though she wasn't rude, she was brief in her speaking. Her gaze went to the bundle of fabric in Ja'nar's arms for a moment before she looked back up at the Queen. "Nor will he be for a time." She continued. The woman was not altogether hardened though, and the hour was late, so despite the fact that she held no good feelings for Ja'nar, she decided it best not to turn her away either. "I assume that you require a place to rest for the night, and perhaps a hot shower. You look dreadful." She was honest at least.
"I am Ana." She said as she stepped back and pulled the door open a bit further so that Ja'nar could step inside and out of the cold.
