Darius was armed. He was armed with knowledge; the knowledge of the location of the Libs' base of operations, where he was to meet with a squadron, or perhaps half a squadron, of Z-95 pilots; whereupon he would jump to rescue a man he'd never met. For now though, since his nav computer was acting up, he was trying to work the co-ordinates in by hand.

(( I still was never told where the actual base of operations is. ))

(( Edit: I just found it was Molavar. ))

Having fixed the issue at hand, Darius executed the jump to Molavar. Molavar was an odd place for the Libs to be based; from everything Darius had come to understand, Molavar lay in the Molavar System, which was part of the Abrion Sector. Abrion had made a name for itself by not suffering pirates; especially at Roon. It seemed rather dangerous to run a mission so close to Imperial locale. Nonetheless, it was where he would meet the Libs. Landing, in good time, at one of the spaceports on Molavar, Darius was unsure where to begin, short of searching for the Z-95s he'd been promised.

Indeed, it was strange to place a base of operations so close to the Imperial locals. However, it was a backwater planet with a little to no Imperial support. The Galactic Empire hadn't been around to help the planet, so the locals had a tendency to feel that the Imperials aren't really in control of the planet. That they are in their own control, because basically they're on their own...very much like Tatooine. Except with the criminal activities, that is. If this was a system with millions of sentient beings and a strong planetary government, then Darius would have been shot down because he didn't send in the landing clearance. Like Tatooine, people don't often care about who lands and what they're carrying, et cetera.

Darius would find that there were no one to greet him. He did say that he was going to be en route to Molovar right after the meeting with Miss Jeebs. However, he didn't send in the landing clearance and didn't even bother to identify who he was. Despite all that, the Libs didn't come completely unprepared. There were an employee of the docking authority that secretly works for the rebellion. A firm tone would be heard over the radiotransmitter, "Please identify yourself. Landing clearance weren't transmitted." If it was indeed the smuggler the Libs were expecting, then he would be the one to escort himself.

Meanwhile...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------

About thirty miles from the docking bay Darius had landed, a young man by the name of Ben Amir was putting all the non-mission critical stuffs from inside the cockpit of the F-302 onto the ground. F-302 was a customized starfighter entirely handbuilt by the young man. That young man was the Captain of the Alpha Squadron, the squadron that consisted of 8 Z-95 Headhunters and the F-302. It means nine starfighters preparing to escort the smuggler to rescue Baird and the soldiers under his command.

The purpose of this is to make the fighter go a little faster. It wouldn't account for much, but every pound counts if you're trying to rescue a band of elite warriors in space crawling with Imperials as fast as possible. Every member of his squadron were doing the same thing. While the Z-95s wouldn't be so formidable against TIE fighters, Ben had emphasized more importance in the pilot rather than the ship itself. The squadron didn't have as much experience flying in combat as he have, despite the age. This led him to emphasize fighting hard wasn't the most important factor in space combat. It was fighting smart, gradually increasing their ability to fight multiple enemies at once.

The men that's responsible for the hangar bay had put the parts away for the crew, making room for them to get their fighters out of the docking bay. The leader of the Libs had told Ben the importance of this mission, that Baird and his soldiers would be valuable in the war against the Empire. The only thing left was to wait for the smuggler to arrive at the base of operations.

Darius hadn't expected to need to transmit a clearance. After all, a backwater planet like this likely appreciated anonymity. As such, the request for clearance came as an oddity. The Empire having tracked him seemed unrealistic. He saw no point in withholding the information though. "This is Darius Vaughn, captain of the independent vessel Escapade, requesting clearance to land."

If this Baird fellow wanted a quick rescue, he would need to meet with the Libs quickly. Every minute was another in which the fighter and his crew could be captured by Imperials. Darius was not here to play games; nor to muck about. Security he could understand though. It just irked him not to be able to reach them faster.

Once the ship's name and the name of the captain was revealed, the very same man spoke the very same firm tone was heard over the radiotransmitter once again. "I apologize but the clearance wasn't granted. I apologize for the inconvenience, you will have to defer to the other hangar bay." Usually, when a ship landed without a landing clearance, security would be all over it. However, it wasn't the case this time around. Once the name were transferred over to the console of the docking authority, the camera inside the very same hangar bay the Escapade were in mysteriously malfunction. It went into a playback of the hangar bay before the ship arrived.

In the process, all the records proving the Escapade showed up were deleted. It was the doing of this particular employee, which had also implanted the virus into the console to cover up the deletion. But before the virus was put into place, Darius would hear a beeping on his console. It was in text, and in a moment the words cleared up.

"THEY ARE WAITING FOR YOU. HERE'S THE COORDINATES." Along with the message, the coordinates were implanted which is about thirty miles away from him. It shouldn't take long for him to fly the ship.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hangar bay crew had finished up putting the unnecessary parts away, but kept them separated and labeled up. Of course, that's critical not to mix stuffs up after they return from the mission. Ben had almost forget himself, but the crew would bring out a probe droid. He spotted it being brought out into the hangar bay. "Ahh, this was used extensively during the Clone Wars. I've heard it was effective." He spoke to one of his squadron members. It was a Republic shuttle probe droid, one that's big enough for a shuttle obviously. Because it was big enough to be a shuttle, it had gone through small modifications. For one, hyperdrive had been installed. If it didn't work, then the smuggler that would arrive soon would have to tow it in hyperspace. Another was that it had been filled with medical kits, and some food.

The reason for that was the mission might go wrong, and the Roghnecks would have the supplies needed in case the Libs had to flee. That, and the probe droid would be going in first before the rest of the squadron. The Captain, of course, would be waiting for the smuggler to show up. Everything seems to be ready for them, pre-mission part seem to be going pretty well.

So, clearance wasn't granted and then a mysterious message came through. Darius caught on quickly to the plan, punching in the coordinates and engaging his ship's repulsors to lift him above the docking bay. Once high enough up, he kicked in the engines and accelerated, heading towards this alternate landing site. With the speeds the Escapade could attain, even in atmosphere, it wouldn't be a long flight. A handful of minutes, perhaps. He was curious to see how he'd be received. He had signed up for a rescue mission, after all, and instead he was being given a run-around.

The Libs had operate in a certain way sometimes. They like to make a wild krayt dragon chase, making it difficult for the Imperials to track the rebellion down. Even if it means moving their possible allies around, and openly greeting on a public docking bay is suicidal. There are eyes of the Empire everywhere, and the Libs know it only too well. The less people that know about the Libs, the better. The numbers are very slowly growing every day, but the rebellion relies on complete secrecy. The Captain knew his compatriots has resources of which to strike back at the Empire, it's the matter of timing and putting pieces into one complete puzzle.

A soldier would walk up to Ben, informing that the smuggler were on his way to the hangar bay. "There's no point in standing around and wait for the guy to arrive. Get on your Z-95!" The young man barked the orders out to the rest of the squadron. One by one, the pilots began climbing up the ladder and jumping into the cockpits of the Z-95s. The Captain made sure to make things as quickly as possible, he then barked out another order. This time it was toward the hangar bay crew. "Have your crew standing by to help the smuggler unload all of the unnecessary stuffs out once he arrives!" All he heard was replies of 'Yes, sir.'

Ben would be waiting in front of his F-302, holding his flight helmet. The former pirate would be the welcoming committee for Vaughn, that is if he would be arriving anytime soon.

Ahead of Darius lay what appeared to be a smaller docking bay, slightly concealed from the air, but it matched the coordinates given to him at his primary stopoff. This, now, was more than likely his destination. He broadcast his vessel's identification and made to land. The Escapade had very little in the way of 'unnecessary stuffs.' Everything he could take from his ship, he had done so. Everything else had a point, such as spare power packs, a few extra weapons, enough food rations to last him perhaps a week (it was mostly nutritious paste).

The JumpMaster 5000 landed just in front of the odd-looking F-302, dropping its ramp to allow Darius to emerge. He walked towards Amir and offered a friendly nod. "The Libs, I presume?"

Vaughn didn't have to worry about sending the landing clearance because the "spy" at the docking authority had informed the Libs in advance that he was coming. All he needed was identification, and he had done that. Thus the smuggler was allowed to land, and the Captain of the Alpha Squadron had been waiting for Vaughn to show up. Seeing the Escapade descent in front of him, Ben continued to stand still. Once the ramp opened up, the smuggler had walked down the ramp. When he came upon Ben to greet himself, he slowly nodded out of courtesy.

"Yep. Welcome to our docking bay, Vaughn." Ben didn't have to worry about his squadron getting ready, but there was one more thing. "We don't have much time, so I'm gonna get to the point. Your ship is going to drag that probe in tow," The former pirate would point at the Republic shuttle probe droid. "it will be used to probe the area and to relay the messages between Baird's men and us while we're outside the system. Once we go in, you're going to have to get them inside as quickly as possible. Quelli Sector is crawling with the Imps, and the Alpha Squadron is going to provide you with protection. Cool?"

Darius gave the massive probe a critical eye and grunted sourly, moving to circle the piece of machinery. A towed probe that size? That was a bad move ahead of time. It was likely he might have to put the Escapade into some tight maneuvers; it was also likely that overweight junk heap would catch him at a bad time and ram his ship. Shaking his head slowly, Darius looked back at Ben.

"I'm not liking this much. I'll drag it on the condition it gets dropped as soon as we go in. I also want to do my own scans to it ahead of time. Deal? There are lives at stake, so I think it'd be best if we agreed quickly."

Ben nodded almost right away to the smuggler, "Of course, it was our intention all along to drop the probe as soon as we drop out of hyperspace. And you can do your own scans, that's fine with me. Let's get going, Vaughn." The Captain would put the helmet on, turning around. He would then climb up the ladder, eventually getting into the cockpit of the F-302. Ben likes to just call the fighter 302, of which a nickname would come by later. The cockpit window closed up, and unlike some of the starfighters, his own fighter didn't need an astromech droid.

The Captain had ordered the squadron to take off right away. One by one, the Z-95s began to take off. Since the JumpMaster 5000 had landed in front of the F-302, it would be the next one to go. "You're up, Vaughn." The Captain had half-ordered the smuggler, just as he was revving the engines up. He was hoping that rescuing Baird and his men would go smoothly. The Roughnecks would be valuable asset to the Libs. They need more elite fighting unit in the war against the Empire. Ben and his own F-302 would be waiting for the smuggler to take off, so he could take his turn...

Darius' scan was thorough and thoughtful. Using a rather expensive, albeit civilian-model hand scanner, he searched the probe for explosives, weapons or traps of any kind. He was a cautious man, and caution kept people alive. Much as the Libs had not sent him to their home base, he would not trust them completely. For now, he took it upon himself to rig the probe to the Escapade via a rather strong cable that could be jettisoned. It would survive the departure of this planet and the route through hyperspace. Of course, if anything was amiss with the probe in any way, he'd certainly refuse to tow it.

Once he was strapped in and hearing Amir's voice over the radio, he nodded, kicking in the repulsors and lifting upwards at an angle, feeling the weight of the shuttle probe behind him. Fortunately, it would disappear once they reached orbit. And so, away and up he went to meet the rest of the Libs.

By the time he had himself strapped in, the smuggler took off. The young captain grinned lightly, taking the F-302 off the ground without any difficulty. The JumpMaster 5000 had been some distance away from the F-302, when Ben pushed the engines so the fighter could go past and be at some distance in front of the freighter. "Vaughn, keep your ship in the middle. Men, we are here to protect Vaughn and the probe at all costs." He ordered as the F-302 and the squadron of Z-95 Headhunters were approaching the space. The Captain wanted everything set before they got into hyperspace, making things as smooth as possible. Ben witnessed the clouds disappearing and the stars popping up outside the cockpit window.

Ben had always considered the stars beautiful, adding to the list of reasons why he loved and will always love flying. The moment had passed, and he went right back on the mission objectives. "As a part of our agreement, Vaughn, you are to release the probe the moment we drop out of hyperspace. Alpha two through five will be escorting the probe as it scans the area. Once the probe has pinpoint the location of Baird and his men, drop the supplies." While the Captain was speaking, he was dialing in the coordinates. "Meanwhile, myself and Alpha six through nine will be escorting the Escapade to pick Baird's men up. Am I clear?"

The radiotransmitter was filled with "Yes, sir" usual responses. "Now, punch the coordinates in and we are to enter into hyperspace on my mark." He barked out the orders, which was a bit unusual for him. Up until his decision to join the Libs, he had been with several different pirate organizations. They don't do the command structure the way the rebellion had done. It was much more organized. While that gives a little flexibility, Ben had liked it because the men under him would follow his orders no matter what. He would let fifteen seconds pass, allowing Vaughn and the rest of the squadron time to dial in the coordinates. After giving them some time, he'd bark out one last order. "On my mark! 5...4...3...2...1. Punch it!"

The F-302 was the first one to enter the hyperspace, as the Z-95s followed by. It was best for the squadron to drop out of hyperspace first, should they stumble upon heavy resistance. If that happens, they'd be able to provide a distraction for Vaughn and his ship to retrieve Baird and his men.

Allowing the snubfighters to speed by him into hyperspace, Darius smiled faintly. He needed protection, eh? His vessel was of import and that was the only reason they protected him. The Escapade was more heavily armed than perhaps two or three of the Z-95s put together. Still, the extra backup would be appreciated. He didn't want another debacle like that which happened at Kamino. Idly, he wondered if the Jedi made their escape from the planet.

Bringing his mind back into focus, he engaged the hyperdrive, heading after the Libs. It was going to be a long, long day.
