The Captain of the Iron Fist weren't sitting on the command chair as the usual captains and higher ranking officials in the Imperial starfleet likes to do. He was more of a hand-on captain, no matter what the assignment was. Even if an assignment was crappy, even if it didn't make him happy. Netan wasn't really happy with his current assignment, the one that Fleet Admiral Corvus had given him. The guy had told him to babysit every area from Estaria to Columex. It's such a big area, though. Anything could have happened, Netan had reminded himself. The Captain had prided himself in doing whatever means necessary to preserve the Galactic Empire. He loved how the Empire had run the galaxy, with an iron fist. Thus the name of the ship, Iron Fist.

The Victory-class star destroyer were deep in the space right at the intersection of the Perlemian Trade Route and the Tion Trade Route, locating in Indrexu Sector. Specifically, located in the system where the planet Estaria is residing. The star destroyer were moving at casual speed, hovering over somewhere close to the planet. Ships had come and go. Most of them were Imperial convoys carrying supplies from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, back and forth. Others were legitimate businesses trying to aid in the improvement of the Outer Rim. So far, there were nothing special that would have the Captain zoom his eye in on to.

Netan was a man that lusts for action. Oftentimes, when things were slow, it was a test to his patience. The Iron Fist had been patrolling for a couple of hours now, nothing alarming came on the radar. There were a lot of traffic, just that nothing mischievous had happened. He began to wooz off a little bit, thinking about his direct descendant of Admiral Mon Halan. The man was one of the highest-ranking officers in the Republic Navy during the Mandalorian Wars, before defecting to the Sith, along with Revan, at the beginning of the Jedi Civil War. Ohh, how he wished the Sith Empire had won that war. Yes, he depised the Jedi that much. Just as he had depised the Galactic Republic. There were a lot of bureaucracy, even back then which had last for quite a long while. Which was why he was glad the Galactic Republic had transformed into the very first Galactic Empire. He shook his head off the past, and went back to watching the ships passing by. He really wanted to make Admiral Halan proud of his actions and allegiance in the Galactic Empire.

Only time will tell whether something unusual and exciting would pop in to under the watchful eyes of the Iron Fist...

And indeed, something would and did come across the Iron Fist. Having traveled along the Tion Trade Route, a pair of KR-TB freighters, escorted by a pair of TL-118 StarHammer fighters and a pair of PB-950 patrol boats came out of hyperspace. This was, after all, the equivalent of a turnpike. It would be curious to see if Netan would let them pass along with all the other vessels.

There was nothing interesting as every Imperial convoy would pass by with approval from the Iron Fist. Every single ship owned by corporations would take a longer inspection, since it is more likely to find something wrong inside ships that aren't under jurisdiction of Imperial starfleet. But so far, not a single trouble, aside from usual grumblings by captains. Usually, captains doesn't like waiting too long. Especially those that are under contracts. It was getting harder and harder for Netan to concentrate when everything continues to go well.

However, he stopped doozing off when an interesting group of vessels had departed hyperspace and entered the area his Victory star destroyer was patrolling. Two KT-TB "Doomtreaders" were flying by, along with a pair of StarHammers and a couple of PB-950s. He was familiar with Doomtreaders and PB-950s. Both designs were being used by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. PB-950s are still in service of the Imperial starfleet, though. He usually sees the sort out in the Outer Rim. The Captain had also seen the StarHammers in hands of planetary forces throughout the galaxy.

While it's possible that they are property of the Empire, it's highly unlikely that the StarHammers would be in service of the Imperial starfleet. Perhaps the fighters are a part of a planetary force escorting the seemingly small convoy. No matter, the Iron Fist had to go through the procedures and halt the group so they could do a scan. "Open a channel." He ordered the officer, as he turned around so he could be in position to present himself as a hologram. He was inside an Imperial uniform that shines off his rank of captain. Once the channel was established, he spoke in a firm tone.

"This is Captain Halan of Iron Fist. I must insist that you shut down the engines immediately, so we may conduct our standard inspection." Now all the Captain have to do is to wait to see whether the small convoy would cooperate. The TIE fighters already patrolling the area would be flying toward them, as the Iron Fist's weaponry would be trained upon the freighters, an usual precaution.

A rather bored voice, bearing the clipped cultural accent of Coruscant, came back as the reply; not having bothered with a full holographic response: "Understood, Iron Fist. As long as this doesn't take too long, we'll be fine. We'd hate to have the precious cargo spoil." There was amusement in the last few words, but the pair of KT-TB freighters came to a stop, parallel and separated by perhaps two kilometers. Each Doomtreader's escort of a single PB-950 and TL-118 maneuvered to come to a halt just 'above' in relative location to each freighter, effectively forming an efficient barrier between the freighters and the TIE fighters. The vessels complied though; powering down shields and engines and preparing for the inspection.

The TIE fighters continued to circle around the small convoy. "The sensors indicated that they had powered the engines down. All of them." The officer spoke out to the captain. Netan turned around, "Good. Now approach the convoy and activate the tractor beam to pull them in." The captain ordered, as the Iron Fist immediately moved at the sublight speed. As they came within five hundred meters, the tractor beam were activated. Each Doomtreader, along with their escorts, would be pulled in separately. This was being done to ensure the ships do not accidently collide with each other in the process of being pulling into the hangar bay.

The TIE fighters stopped flying around the small convoy, going back to watch over the other vessels that would be passing by. "Prepare a boarding party. A team of scanners, along with a squadron of stormtroopers. They must inspect each vessel, one at a time. The weapons must be set to stun, and only to be used in self-defense. If the men finds something, contact me immediately." He ordered another officer standing next to him, as the man saluted him and went off to prepare the hangar bay for the arrival of several ships. Netan would then walk over to the nearby console, using his access code to have the hangar bay camera being brought up onto his console.

As the ships are being brought in, Netan had his eyes locked on them. He wanted to be there in case something was up, then be'd be able to respond immediately.

The crews of the PB-950 patrol boats, four in each, had disembarked first. They wore common spacer garb and each had a holstered blaster pistol of various make at their hips, provided the Imperials had not ordered them to disarm. This was, after all, a completely cooperative operation with the Iron Fist and its crew. Two of the eight sentients were non-humans; one a Rodian and the other a Trandoshan. On board the pair of patrol boats, the Imperials would find nothing amiss. Each ship had a rack four a quartet of identical blaster rifles, GLX Firelance models.

Elsewhere in the hangar bay; still in sight of the mass of stormtroopers that were likely there to ensure security, the four beings who operated the TL-118 vessels had disembarked as well. One pair of pilot-gunner were of the Duros species; the other pair human and they were armed similar to their compatriots who manned the patrol boats. Aside from the weaponry they carried, there were no extra weapons to be found on board the StarHammers.

The KR-TB freighters were the pinnacle though, of the search. With a compliment of seven armed men who disembarked and stretched, there was likely a lot for Netan to watch. Only one man was rather well-dressed, his clothing immaculate and reminiscent of an Imperial captain's uniform, minus the decorations. There was an elegant S-5 heavy blaster pistol holstered at his thigh, and slung so that it hung at his side was a CR-2 blaster pistol, that could have well fallen under the category of 'sub-machine gun .' This was the man who had addressed Netan on first contact.

The problem Netan may or may not run across was the presence of a large number of human and non-human slaves in the expansive cargo holds of the freighters. It would become obvious, more than likely, that these men and their crafts were slavers.

As the crew from each patrol boat and freighters had disembarked, there were awfully a lot of people coming out. Especially the high numbers of non-Humans inside the hangar bay, and that made Netan's skin boil. He never liked the aliens, and adored Human High Culture that were adopted once the New Order was established. However, there were more that were humans. By now, it would be obvious to Netan and the assigned teams to acknowledge that they were slavers. The slavers were carrying a lot of pistols, though. Probably being used to keep the slaves at bay. Humans or aliens, slavery are allowed in the Galactic Empire.

The team of scanners, along with the stormtroopers, would enter into the first of the patrol boats. Meanwhile, an officer, along with a couple stormtroopers, would approach the man in the uniform. "Where are you going? What's the purpose of your travel?"

The total slaving group, twenty-six men total, had gathered together to make it easier for the Imperials to ask questions and reply, as well as keep up with what the others were doing. All of them, the non-humans especially, were on their best behavior. Arguing with Imperial customs forces in the belly of a Star Destroyer was practically suicide. The uniformed man (who was, incidentally, from Coruscant) introduced himself as James Tarrington. Seeing as the officer had addressed him, Tarrington stepped forward.

"We are headed to the Outer Rim, Lieutenant. Nar Shaddaa specifically. We are carrying a load of perishable cargo to a buyer there." 'Perishable cargo.' That was a nice term for slaves. Of course, it was quite impolitic to openly state they were carrying slaves; that would certainly never do. Of course, as Netan had correctly surmised, slavery was legal within certain areas of the Empire and Tarrington and his crew were heading to one such place.

Netan smirked at the camera, correctly assuming that it was of the slaving business. As the team of scanners and stormtroopers would go about its business on scanning every single ship. The officer looked at the man that had just introduced himself, "Ahh, a regular ferry to Nar Shaddaa I take it, sir?' Meanwhile, Netan would use the databank on the console to go through every single face. He wanted to make sure their background check goes through. "While your...perishable cargo does present a moral dilemma, it is perfectly legal within the territory of His Majesty. We are prepared to let you pass through, providing that the scans on your ships and the background checks goes through."

"Not quite a regular ferry, but regular enough, Lieutenant." Tarrington kept his tone polite, but one well-plucked eyebrow arched questioningly at the mention of background checks. Did they really expect a group of slavers to have a clean and clear record? Several of the men had been in swoop gangs on various planets; one of the Rodians had been a pirate at one point and Tarrington himself a former smuggler. Hardly a clean background. Of course, if the Empire was looking for former Republic soldiers, C.I.S. affiliates or those appearing on the Most Wanted lists for one form of terrorism or another, they'd find nothing. These men were clear of such things as opposing the Empire. If anything, the Empire had helped the slave trade, and these men were not about to fight against an organization that had aided them.

Indeed, several of the men had spotty background checks. Many of them were involved in all sorts of crime. However, their record didn't concern Netan that much. They had turned to a legitimate occupation within the Empire, one that proves valuable to the labor costs. In many regions of the Empire, slaves are preferred to those that receive payments. Every single slaver inside the hangar bay didn't indicate any serious threat to the Empire. No rebels. No Separatists. No terrorists.

"You don't exactly have a spotless record, but who does nowadays?" By now, the teams had done their detailed search of every ship. They had found nothing illegal. A stormtrooper walked up to him and nodded. The officer then turned to look at Captain Tarrington, "Everything seems to be in order. You are free to go about your business. Thank you for your cooperation."

"Every man's hands are dirty in one way or another, Lieutenant." Tarrington offered the man a wry smile and then bowed at the waist before turning about to form up his men, who rushed back to their respective vessels and prepare to head out. Once free of the Star Destroyer's hangar, they would form up and continue onwards, jumping to hyperspace for a destination along the Outer Rim.
