(Should read Nemlor's Territory, if a manager sees this can they tidy that up?)

In orbit over Cona, the Axum Interest Protection Squadron's Flagship, "Eagle" emerged from hyperspace. The behemoth overshadowed the small group of assorted vessels of the RimCo which moved under its vast shape. The asset protection squadron has expressed its interest in maintaining the security of this operation (as a percentage of the Corporation was owned by Anaxes based owners).

The RimCo Security Force was not yet present, as the vessel allocated to this region was not yet arrived. The RimCo vessels consisted of four Action-II transports and 6 Y-8 Mining Vessels. Contained within the Action IIs was a number of platforms which would be placed in orbit. Unlike other corporations, RimCo did not mess around, it did not put facilities on the ground. The force was also accompanied by three demilitarized Lucrehulk-class Tankers, having been chartered by the RimCo organisation to carry a massive cargo of water to the locals, having cut out the rather risible middleman of "Mining Ice" by simply buying water in bulk from Bestine IV in the Inner Rim and shipping it directly to the water loving locals after using a tractor beam to pull it from the wide seas and lakes on Bestine IV. The Bestine Government was astonished that anyone would want to pay for their abundant water and snapped up the offer of an exclusive export contract from RimCo.

Thus with supply assured, RimCo sent representatives to the surface, buying up wide and rich mining claims as if water had no value (since it really did have little value), also selling to local companies as well as the government, undercutting the existing vendors with their snazzy brand "RIMCO, HYDRATING YOUR WORLD!". Press statements were made regarding how appalling RimCo felt the exploitation of the locals had been and that they hoped their cheaper prices would improve standard of living for all the locals.

Also secured in the smallprint of the agreements with RimCo was the right to settle a small trading spaceport on the world, to establish more full trade links with the locals and to help their "mobility" around the Galaxy.

As soon as the Mining Claim was organised, RimCo would begin its orbital mining program. Pulverizing the crust from orbit and using tractor beams to bring ores up to the orbital containers, from whence they would be shipped out by XTS vessels when the time came. Not the most environmentally friendly strategy ever, but Cona was a dump, and many locals even felt that the blasted and bombarded strip mined areas of desert were actually more visually pleasing than the arid deserts which had been there before. Impressive statements were made about the plan to use the holes created in the desert by this laser mining technique to create a sea for Cona. The hard igneous rock left over from the mining would be impermeable (unlike the former desert) and would provide a perfect sea bed, and evaporation would cause the formation of clouds and it was hoped, rain. Refilled by perpetual supplies it was hoped Cona could be made a charming terrestrial world. RimCo had not sold the locals a sum of water in exchange for mining rights, they had sold them a vision of a progressive bright new future, a future in which they could live on a lush happy world.

(Ooc: Wookieepedia states that Nemlor Minerals has a facility on Cona, and since my Moff owns Nemlor Minerals I'm gonna state that the facility is on the other side of the planet from where your ships are mining)

And you are quite at liberty to do so. Nemlor is mentioned as being a smaller operator on the world anyway. Just making the pinch felt on the company.))

Nemlor Minerals may have been a small company, yet it was an industrious one to say the least. Had one taken the time to look over the large area of land it called its own, they would see various blue lakes, the water in each being a deep dark blue that one would see on any world with an ocean. Yet this water was all fresh, brought and melted on Cona, and in the process filling the large, and now closed, sink hole like mine shafts that the Nemlor company had dug into the land. Each of which had its own tunnels and chambers, and often where connected to one another. These massive sink holes also had pumps that would pump the water directly from the bottom to large holding tanks near the living centers of the Arcona species, supplying them with massive wells of water, with each one being able to supply the people with a years worth, if not more, of water.

As each sink hole mine shaft ran dry, and was shut down, the company would import large amounts of ice through the Glacial Ice Mining company, who would in turn melt the ice in the sink holes and produce new wells for the Arcona people. This process continued every year, with each sink hole being refilled when they began to get too low, often at times being refiled with they were only half way down, giving the people a constant supply of water. The area around the facility was being nicknamed as the well farm by many of the miners who helped dig the various sink holes that now served a new purpose after their closure.

((I got to say though, I'm pretty sure the Arcona species would eventually have a problem with you just tearing up massive area's of land and turning the entire world into an ocean.))

((Oh yeah, Enjoy killing the Arcona by making an ocean to fill the sky with clouds. So take in consideration this fact from Wookieepedia since you've decided to make an ocean on Cona.

"The atmosphere was filled with ammonia vapor. The Arcona adapted to this environment by eating the ammonia-converting roots of the complex flora of Cona as a source of water (the only water planet-wide)."

So have fun killing off an entire species by making an environment that they cant survive in.))
