Jabiim, Phelleem Sector, 21 BBY
Planetfall - 22:14

There were so few things in the galaxy that Karth De'Qora considered a 'constant'. Of those few, one stood out foremost in his mind -- the Jabiimi were a most resilient and stubborn people. Perhaps it was a result of his upbringing, a childhood spent in resplendent temples located on the galactic capital, but it boggled the young Jedi's mind that anyone would willingly decide to make a living on such a rock. Wind howled around the 'larty', buffeting his cloak and blowing his normally-kempt hair about. The gunship sped determinedly across the jagged terrain, drowned out in a symphony of similar LAAT/i gunships trailing behind them. In the distance a battle raged, a violent cacaphony of screams intermingled with the sharp retorts of blasters. The flames of said battle lit the horizon in a brilliant orange as the sun struggled to make its presence known, though it would soon be blanketed in a dark mass of clouds.

"Commander De'Qora." The cold, synthetic voice of his Clone lieutenant drew Karth into the present, disrupting the pre-battle silence he cherished so much. "We're close to RV Point Epsilon, ETA five minutes."

"Thank you, Crass."

His hands gripped the railing that lined the gunship's roof, the only real support they had. Turning, Karth eyed the faceless white helmets of his soldiers; each of them was a veteran of this war, by now, men he had served with since this damn war began. Their Jedi commander offered them a grim smile, his eyes narrowed in steely conviction. Time for another rousing battle speech.

"As of 1100 hours, three days ago, our brothers have been waging an uphill battle against the damn Jabiimi." He paused as the gunship rocked, soon the space around them was occupied with fire from Separatist anti-air batteries. "I won't lie to you, men-" Karth shouted above the din of battle, "-We're heading into a killing field, with who knows how many droids and stubborn assholes waiting to turn us into meat shields for whatever poor bastards come after us. But I'll be damned if I'm going to let this rock be my grave, who's with me?!"

In response, the brave men of the 233rd Clone Regiment pounded their armored hands on their chests, Karth's message being broadcast to every gunship under his command. His smile grew, and he continued. "When we hit the ground it's going to be hell. Keep formation, get to cover and keep moving. Our orders are to RV with General Kenobi and then fall under his command, but I don't doubt we'll be in the thick of it."

The gunship nearest them went up in flames, the unfortunate result of a lucky missile strike.

"Let's show these bastards we give as good as we get!"

Moments later, Karth's boots hit solid earth. His blue lightsaber sprang to life before he even landed, his weapon a blur as it reflected an onslaught of fire back towards the dug in Jabiimi lines. The battlefield was thick with mist, vision was partially obscured, but in the distance Karth saw another saber moving amidst the wall of rain. "Kenobi! Form up, clear a path to General Kenobi!"

Day 2, 13:10

D,

I hate that we have to communicate like this, but it seems like it's the only way. We got there just in time, Master Kenobi's ground team had almost been overrun by the time we hit the ground, but for now the Seps have fallen back. We set up a base camp at the edge of the valley; we can see them coming long before they get within range. The 233rd's been given a new assignment, tomorrow we're going to hit a Jabiimi comm relay and try to knock out offworld communications. There's rumors of a Sep fleet en route, I'm hoping that's just a rumor.

I heard that you've been shipped out to Sullust, I was hoping we'd get some alone time once I got back to Coruscant. I'll try and take some leave time, hopefully we can at least get a few days together, if not more. I miss you, really, feels like forever since I saw you last... but it was only, what, two months ago? We've got a lot of catching up to do, in more ways than one. Stay safe out there, hope to hear from you once you get this message; but with the spotty connection out here I have no idea of how long that'll take.

I love you,

K.

21 BBY- Sullust

Hey Slim,

You heard right, Sullust. Atrya has it in her head that the Outer Rim is the best place for us right now. There are reports of a small separatist base on the planet, but nothing confirmed. She felt it best that we check this out and stop anything before it actually happens. If there is anything at all. I have my doubts, Slim. I hate to question her, but I just have a feeling that this will be a fruitless trip. Good training, I suppose, but that might be all.

Forty-six days. That's how long its been. Forty-six days and forty-seven nights. Agonizing, isn't it? This is why....I'm sure....that we weren't supposed to do this. Why this isn't allowed. I don't care, not anymore. I'll put in for leave too, you just let me know the dates and where. Atrya was talking of going off on a meditation trip on her own anyway, like she usually does once a year or so.

Promise me you'll be safe out there. I can't help but worry because I really don't want to lose you. Is that selfish of me? I hope not....

Eternally,

Dani
