A Sheathipede-class Shuttle came from hyperspace along the required coordinates for entry to Druckenwell landspace. It had a visa for the area issued by a local world and all the people aboard (2 Humans and 1 Neimoidian plus one R1 Droid) all had paperwork which checked out. The Neimoidian (if questioned) would detail that he had grown up on Druckenwell and wished to come and visit as a tourist once more. A criminal record check on all three of the individuals would check out soundly, the two men had been sentenced to slavery and were the property of the Neimoidian arrival, it was all legal under Imperial Law. The shuttle itself would request landing clearance on the world. If scanned the vessel was just a stock model, aboard were a few boxes of personal effects, clothes and shoes and the like as well as some entertainment disks etc. There were blaster rifles aboard, both Imperial stock models and all legal.

The Neimoidian by all appearances had all the required paperwork and it seemed he intended to visit to set up a household on Druckenwell, having contacted in advance to rent a house the Neimoidian could operate a business out of it, trading in fungus from Neimoidia. He had all the permits to set up the business and flimplasts listing planned shipments to Druckenwell.

So long as there were no queries not answered above, the two slaves and the Neimoidian would move into the house, keeping the humans in its two basement sections. The R2 Unit would look after the house and see that the slaves were fed and watered in their confinement. The Neimoidian would loaf around the house for a few days before giving the droid the instruction that he would be back in a week and to keep everything in order. The slaves were kept in uncomfortable positions in their cells, they were sleep deprived by the requirement to crank a handle 50 times hourly to avoid electric shocks, they were fed and watered a bare minimum of food and Neimoidian fungus.

Having done this, he picked up his starship and plotted a course for Neimoidia, informing them he was going to buy a quantity of Neimoidian fungus and giving a communicator number for where he would be and that he would be back in seven days.. The shuttle would take off and skim across the landscape elegantly before flipping up into orbit and taking a course for Neimoidia.

This would have been well and good save for on the count of slavery. Druckenwell had wholeheartedly voted against slavery and, on a planetary level, had abolished such. The Neimoidian would be informed that if he wished to continue in both gaining a house on Druckenwell and becoming involved in business thereupon, he would have to sign a document releasing his slaves formally and then proceeding to do so. Druckenwell law was a stickler on such points as slavery and illegal drugs. Once the Neimoidian complied with such and gave proof he'd freed the slaves, then he'd be welcome to undertake the next step. Should he free the slaves and then keep them on as workers, a Druckenwell government official would be by his home for one day a week for the next year to ensure he was treating his former slaves well.

Unfortunately for Druckenwell, there was official Imperial Law which legitimised slavery for those who had been convicted by a court, his two had been repeat thieves on Imperial Center and had been lawfully convicted to lifetime slavery. Imperial Decree A-SL-4557.607.232 was an Imperial proclamation from the sovereign power (and the Empire) and the Neimoidian informed the authorities that he would be forced to take legal action if the Druckenwell people obstructed his travel with his slaves. Druckenwell legislation or not, the Imperial Law was precedent for the Druckenwell law being inoperative.

It should be noted that the Druckenwell Senator had voted to Abstain from the debate on slave trade prohibitions due to the logical objections of the Senator of Empress Teta who had pointed out slavery was endorsed by Federal law.

Indeed, Ryuun had voted to abstain in the Imperial Senate on a vote that spanned all the worlds of the Empire. Druckenwell's planetary policy, however, was quite against slavery. Faced with Imperial law, of course, the Druckenwell authorities could only agree that the slaves were allowed. However, once word got out that there was a slave-owner on Druckenwell, the people living near the Neimoidian home would shun the place. It would not be long before vandals targeted the home with rocks or graffiti either. The Druckenwell authorities, of course, would make every effort to stop the vandalism, but with the Neimoidian merchant having departed, it was decided that when he returned he would be informed.
