| (( You don't kick a cow pod on a hot day, y'hear? I'm figurin' to post on this here thread in a few hours 'er so. So y'all kindly sit tight now. )) Added (08 Nov 2011, 1:07 Am) --------------------------------------------- Supposing 'Slim' Harcourt's aim was as good as he reckoned it to be and he succeeded in shooting the Deralian holdin' tight to Jessup, the boy would be spared from the impressive force of Slim's rifle round only through some crafty fidgeting on his part and a timely elbow to the crotch of Deralian, who would have a bigger problem on his mind a second or two later when his head was blown clear of his shoulders. Jessup scurried under one of the tables, not far from the one that Amos had knocked over. Too late for Amos, though. The stun blast hit him in the back and down he went. But the reputed bon viveur of Garang had been clever in one respect, if one only—the Deralians would find nowhere on his person or in his truck the droid's hard drive, which contained the information it had gathered and also the instructions it had been programmed with and, potentially, information on its origin. Whoever Amos had shown the droid to in Garang had possession of it now, and when Amos didn't come back by the time the Higgens sisters showed up at the Stirrup Cup, the boys would know something was wrong.
With 'Slim' Harcourt raisin' up a fury though, could be word would get back to Garang long before then. Especially if Jessup managed to get his self to the truck and out of there in one piece, unlike the Deralian who'd tried to put him under.

| "SNIPER!!!" was immediately screamed when the shot rang out, taking out one of their men. The four hovertrucks were immediatly manned by the group, two men to each truck. They sped off in multiple directions. Meanwhile, the main group, totaling five, flurried about the landing site, the leader grabbing Moses and quickly moving along the surface towards the ship while another grabbed their fallen comrade. The three that remained free from duties, gave sporadic cover fire into the surrounding area to keep any would-be secondary snipers from taking shots. In the process of this, however, one of the covering men hurled an incendiary grenade into Moses' truck.
They disregarded Jessup. The young man was of no concern now that a firefight was conceivably forming. They had at least one of the men, and that was good enough for them. Once Moses and their fallen brother, as well as the three covering men, were up the ramp, it was closed. The various arms that were put up for sale were left, all of which were deactivated Separatist fares. The ship, which had been left prepped for flight since landing, immediately started up her engines and took off, streaking into the sky, towards space; the crew of the ship was ready for any resistance they may experience to their next objective point.
The men in the trucks, would remain behind. They had a different objective that needed to be carried out, and with plenty of open spaces throughout the planet, they would find a secure location and plan their next move. For now, they scattered and evaded, making multiple variations in their travel, to ensure they could not be followed by any would-be pursuers.

| The dog sprinted home, like the good pup it was, barking to Mrs Harcourt who replied "What's that boy? A group of offworlders causing trouble? Theyve got a ship and four hover trucks? I'll call the Militia!". The militia were indeed called and a pair of airspeeders were dispatched to the area, world was also allowed to filter down to Jamie's boys and the various other local groups. When it came to outsiders killing, noone liked it. Random speeders moving fast were easy to see on the radars of these craft.
The fast moving trucks, throwing up dust from the tracks and fields they would have to cross on Dantooine would render them easily detected. Once found they would be followed, another two airspeeders joining the chase as Jamie's boys headed out from the local town. Jamie's vehicles, sporting a capital "J" on the roof and numerous Dantooin' flags and drunken men riding in the flatbeds would be easily recognized from the offworlders. The Militia itself would just follow in the speeders and not attempt to intercept as yet.
The suspicious takeoff of the shuttle was noted by the Gozanti Cruiser patroling in orbit, moving on an intercept course it took a lock on the vessel, blocking its path and opening comms "This here is the Dantooine Cruiser "Lightin'" heave to and identify youself or you be fired on, yhear?" spoke the ship's captain as the weapons locked on to the shuttle.

| As they broke the atmosphere and came into the sights of the Lightnin', Amos Moses was locked up in the cargo hold, which had been retrofitted into a holding cell. When the pilot received the message of the Gozanti, he was in the process of trying to avoid it's firing range. He immediately dove the craft and poured everything he could, without sacrificing energy in any essential systems, into the engines. Their shields were up, and gunners at the ready should the Dantooinians give chase. They had one thing on their side. Frankly, they were running behind schedule...

| The schedule of the public military action against Dantooine. Originally, they had time, but following the attack on one of the moons of Deralia, and the Royal Intelligence Service's conclusion that Dantooine-based terrorists were behind it, the timetable had been pushed up. Originally, the special forces team was to go in, find the location of group responsible for the attack on Aldo Romano, and take them out, following which Deralian naval forces were to arrive over the planet, and force action by Senator Ray's government against the terrorists remaining on the planet. A direct attack against Deralia changed that. The Ops was already in preparation for this, but now, it was pushed into action, which it did at this very moment. With a mind to burn Dantooine to the ground, and carrying with it the fiery vengeance of a people scorned, a modified Venator-class Star Destroyer emerged from hyperspace, a mere five kilometers away from the Lightnin', placing the Gozanti Cruiser between the flagship, and pride, of the Deralian Navy, it's intended target, Dantooine itself.
Onboard the Ops, the crew went about going into combat action, it's shields now raising and its weapons already charged and ready. The hangar was ready to open and deploy fighters, in the event of an attack. Firing solutions were made upon the Lightnin' and any other Dantooine craft within sight, including the orbiting space station should it be on this side of the planet. After a moment, a transmission was sent across all frequencies within the local area. "Attention, this is Admiral Septimus Octavius of the Royal Deralian Navy. By authority of the King of Deralia, I hereby deliver the following decree: Due to recent attacks against Deralian citizens by Dantooine-based terrorists on multiple occasions, including an attack on the Deralian moon of Celest, Dantooine is hereby being placed into the protective authority of the Deralian Kingdom until the security situation on this planet improves to the point that it is no longer a threat to Deralia, it's Dominions and Interests, nor any other galactic power." said the transmission. Octavius immediately issued an, albeit unnecessary, red alert order, in preparation for the surely oncoming outright assault upon their vessel.

| The teams they had left on Dantooine were quickly marked by the Airspeeders designated for the process. Local militia units were then dispatched in pursuit of them as the airspeeders moved in closer and engaged the slow hovertrucks with laser cannon fire, targeting their engines, hoping to blow them up or disable the vehicles.
The Dantooine crew in orbit knew that they sure as hell weren't going to tolerate this kind of behaviour and so opened fire upon the Deralian shuttle with a proton torpedo and a volley of blasts as it rolled aside and spun around to confront the Venator-class, gunning its engines and issuing a warning "Back down Deralian ship, y'all are in our space and not welcome here. Get gone."
General Eel was at breakfast when the news came in on his comminicator that the Deralians were attacking their world, he set down his spoon and napkin, nodding to his wife before moving swiftly for the command centre where a Staff Colonel had been running things until now.
The following message was sent to the Deralian ships "Deralian ships, withdraw immediately from Dantooine space or stand down, if you do not do so then you will be fired upon. This is an invasion of the airspace of Dantooine with no precedent." in orbit the space station relayed instructions as it scanned the Venator, allowing the ground based forces to target better when the battle came.
The four Z-95 headhunters were launched from the hull of the space station, sleekly skimming towards the Venator-class, armed for battle and targeting strategic points on its hull, the four veteran pilots were adept in their duty, knowing the dead spots in these old vessels' gunnery arcs. The turbolasers on the space station also locked on to the space station, taking aim.
At the airfield there were shouts and bells rung as men scrambled to the eight airspeeders still on the ground, getting them in the air within a minute of the initial Deralian message.

| Inside the cargo hold, Amos Moses came to with a groan. "Oh lordy, where am I waking up now?" he grumbled to himself. Craning his neck to glance around the makeshift "cell," he became dimly aware that he was on a ship that was in the process of being shot at, and decided he'd prefer to sleep through this ride. He slumped back into a modest puddle of his drool and passed out once more. ((You can skip me next few rounds, boys.))

| ((I'll actually probably move our portion over to another thread, Amos, so this apparently eminent naval battle can continue on without us breaking the flow every couple of posts, or worse, getting lost in it.))
The freighter continued its dive, the pilot shifting its shields to lessen the brunt of the brief fire sent by the Gozanti and the gunners targeting the single torpedo and firing upon it to destroy it before it reached its mark. Both efforts succeeded, as the Ops had distracted anyone from tracking them. Once they were clear of fire, the ship rolled out of its dive and continued on, now out of range of the Gozanti. With all attention on the impending doom the Venator was bearing down on the minimal forces of Dantooine, they were suddenly an afterthought and the moment they were clear of the gravwell of the planet, they exited the area into hyperspace. Soon, their attention would be focused on Moses.
Meanwhile, on the surface, the teams in their repulsortrucks continued to evade their pursuers. When they were fired upon, however, they responded, first with evasive driving. Then, they retaliated, with the mean in the beds of the trucks turning around with their arms, Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannons, and began firing upon the chasing airspeeders. The airspeeders would be in a dangerous position were they to continue to attempt their close air support role, as it required flying close to their targets, and in turn, making themselves easier targets for the gunners in the beds of the trucks.

| At the time, they were unaware of the proceedings in the Senate, nor the ensuing chaos that was quickly following suite. They had explicit orders not, however, to jam planetary communications, with his protestations to such falling upon deaf ears. The King did not want any aggressive overtones to their operations on Dantooine... but a Venator was a rather strong message to throw out there. Not that he disagreed with the King, but he merely felt if they were to go to all this trouble, that they shouldn't limit themselves. The King knew better than him, however, and he submitted to the wisdom that was beyond himself. It was simple respect of that position within Deralian culture.
Needless to say, the Ops was not backing down so far. Any possible reinforcements were several days away at the time of the event, giving them plenty of room for operation. They were, however, not aware that reinforcements were in fact on their way, nor that they were being given twelve hours to withdraw by the government of Dantooine. For now, their orders still stood, and they remained on their present course of slowly moving towards Dantooine. Within the bridge, however, plans were immediately made to shift the ship into a path running in between the Gozanti Cruiser and the orbiting space station. They ship's gunners obtained their firing solutions for possible engagement should fighting break out, and a squadron of V-19 Torrent Starfighters awaited deployed within the now depressurized "runway" of the hangar complex... all it would take was the opening of the doors. This would not happen, however, until a fight broke out. Admiral Octavius did not believe, however, that Dantooine's naval forces were foolish enough to attack them.

| The airspeeders would move back to an observation position as the Deralians began to fire upon them, keeping enough height and distance (while manouvering) to make targeting them almost impossible but keeping a keen eye on the Deralian trucks as the lumbered across the country side. Armoured speeders (much faster than the hover truck) were now easily in range of the lumbering vehicles. Targeting them with hails of heavy and light blaster cannon fire - easily enough to cripple these vehicles. The Deralians would note that each truck was now pursued by up to a dozen other vehicles, some just civilian speeders but many more advanced military models - they would begin to see that escape was impossible for them.
Vehicles would also now (alerted by the spreadin' news of a chase) begin coming from all directions towards the deralian special forces teams, some to watch some to follow... shit was really hitting the fan for them.
The Gozanti cruiser would (despite the Venator attempting to block it's way) fly over and around the Venator's hull and move to a close orbit of the space station, being escorted now by the fighters from the station. On the world all the planetary defense weapons took beads on the Deralian vessel, the second it acted hostile it would find itself raked with SPHA fire from below.
The Dantooine Gozanti Captain was no fool, and checked his orders with ground control, he was instructed to wait 12 hours before attempting to attack - and so they waited quietly and placidly after issuing the following message (along with Senate transcripts) "You have 12 hours to leave Dantooine airspace. That is all."

| When Exar Ray stated there were no terrorists on Dantooine, he wasn't quite correct. There were simply terrorists he didn't know about. Sitting at the spaceport still, Shiva's men had grown very nervous with all that was occurring overhead, so to speak. They began to prep the YV-100 for launch and a quick escape while sending word to Shiva, still at Jamie's Bar and Grill, that he might need to get off-world rather quickly.

| "Hmm... it appears the navy of Dantooine has no courage..." he said aloud, to himself, catching the ear of a few of the crewmen. Regardless, he merely stood there, watching the moves of the opposing ships for several minutes. When they received their orders, he noted that there was not a timetable for doing so. Thus, he waited... and waited... and waited. Within the ship's hangar, they would, every hour, rotate between their ARC-170 squadrons for who was on alert, should combat erupt. The entire time, he stood at the viewport, awaiting for their justification, as if they needed any more.
Unfortunately, it was not to be. The God of War did not smile upon him today, and in the eleventh hour as the first of Dantooine's supporters began arriving outside the system, he resigned from the field "Turn about, one-eight-zero degrees. Once clear of the gravity well, I want us home on the most direct route we can take, maximum speed." he said. Following which, he went ahead and finally took a seat in the command chair that had been fitted into the forward catwalk of the bridge at the center of the viewport, only two meters behind where was once standing. While there, he enjoyed a cup of herbal tea as they made their exit. Once the Ops had left the area into hyperspace, he would retire to his quarters until their arrival at Deralia.

| The gunners on the back of each truck, would begin firing upon the pursuing vehicles, now that the airspeeders had backed off. It was rather odd, how many individual vehicles were being summoned to chase them, when they should have had plenty of time to loose those that were a town away and alerted by a dog, of all creatures. It was no matter, however. A mass of redneck, inbred, hillbillies still were no match for trained special forces operators, which all of these men were. Once they had, hopefully, dispatched their pursuit, they would continue on with their mission. If they weren't able to lose them, they would fight to the death, knowing that it was a good death for a warrior, and one of honor in service of their homeland.

| Redneck hillbillies should not be underestimated! Indeed redneck hillbillies once almost brought the union to its knees. They were men who were in many cases veterans (after the invasion in the clone wars) and all could shoot straight. Drag racing was a dantooine hobby, as was driving generally, and the Dantooinians would not be ale to shake their pursurs, nor wipe them out. A couple of civilian speeders were blown up, but the majority were not so harmed,
The Gian style speeders, managed to knock out the lumbering trucks with their heavy blaster cannons. The trucks, struck by blaster fire were thrown off the roads and would plough into the ground or roll away. This in itself would likely kill or wound several of the spec ops people.
An offer to surrender would be given, pointing out that there was no point dying in the wrecks of their cars or in the nearby countryside. It seems highly implausible the abandoned Deralians would all be willing to commend their deaths to Deralia, especially when given a fair chance to surrender. Even special forces soldiers were not suicidal zealots.
The crippled trucks were then approached by militia troopers with stun Blasters, carefully approaching so as to avoid dying easily. Undoubtedly several would die but unless the Deralians committed suicide, it was likely that a couple would be captured.
Equally it was likely some would have been stunned or injured by the crash and so would be easily captured by the Dantooine militia,Added (29 Nov 2011, 4:57 AM) --------------------------------------------- The majority of the number in the three trucks were captured, as were their weapons. They were scanned (for suicide devices), disarmed and returned to Garang in chains and manacles. Once in Garang they would be kept In the dank town lockup and interrogated.
