The Jedi Temple, a symbol that had stood for countless years, a place of learning and a repository of knowledge that had stood on Coruscant since the destruction of Ossus ages ago. Now the temple lay quiet, it's fountains no long running as they once had, the halls quiet except for the haunting steps of the Shadowguards that now dwelt within the ruins. If not for the Emperor's thirst and drive for knowledge, the temple library would have been destroyed and plundered, yet its many files and records, its many holocrons remain intact and very much together. It was the knowledge held with in this place that kept it alive, the same knowledge which was know the only true thing that the Temple had to offer to anyone whom stalked the shadows of the decrepit place, once home to countless Jedi and their students, now a mere shadow of ruins of what it had once been. It was within this shadow though that Kulan stalked, the newly promoted Master Guardsman, the leader and figure head of the Shadowguards. It was Emperor Palpatine that trained the new Shadowguards, yet it was Kulan that ran them, that lead the missions and had proven his worth to the Emperor that saw fit to give him the position he held now.

The heavy boots of his armor echoed through the temple halls, stepping around pillars that lay before him, signs of the fighting and destruction wrought upon this place by Lord Vader, as order 66 swept across the galaxy. Kulan stopped for a moment as he turned and looked into one of the larger rooms, watching for a moment as three other shadowguards spared to keep their senses and skills strong, a sight which was normal, one that had taken over and overshadowed the sights and thoughts of Jedi training in these very halls, yet Kulan knew that for a few among them, it was just like they were home again, or had never left, merely returning to the place which had first taken them in as younglings. Kulan though shook that thought from his mind, the Jedi were all but relics now, sure there were the few that held out, those that hid in the Outer Rim where the Empire's hand was not as strong, or in Hutt Space, a section of space that was just one powder keg away from opening a new salvo of wars, although he knew enough to know that the Jedi wouldn't risk such a large scale war, least they show the public that they had indeed been guilty of attempting the rebellion against the Senate.

It was clear that Kulan had traveled this path through the temple many times though, as he continued to think on his thoughts, one might say it was a walking meditation, only for Kulan to stop before the large doors within the library that he had so effortlessly navigated through until he came upon the large doors to the holocron vault that now lay before him. He took a moment to admire the detail in the carvings on the door, the detail of the artwork of those that sought to hide the holocrons behind it, maybe the art work was meant as a decoy, a way to stop one whom sought entrance to allow time for those within the temple to act. Kulan though had no such worries, no one was there to stop him as he stepped forward, bringing his hand up as he pushed the doors open gently before stepping into the room behind them. His eyes looking to the holocrons that effortlessly floated in the air in a circle around a small platform, one that he had spent many hours meditating in as he closed the doors behind him, stepping forward as he stepped into the circle, watching the records of the Jedi float around him, only a handful of them though as he looked at each of the small cubes that floated through the air.

He wanted more though, his thirst for knowledge was to peer into one of the Sith Holocrons, the tell tale pyramids of knowledge that so haunted and tortured him at night with their whispers, yet for the moment he would placate that hunger with the knowledge left behind in these holocrons as he sat in the center of the platform, his hands coming to rest on his knees as he closed his eyes and began to mediate, slowly opening himself up to the force as he began his journey, taking his first steps into delving within the Jedi holocrons, and beginning to unlock the knowledge hidden within.

"Hello there, how can I help you?" spoke a ruddy faced man in a cowl behind Kulan as he poked about the archives. "Looking for something in particular in this most ancient of libraries.. which is now.. in decline" the robed man had a light saber handing from his waist an and Imperial Symbol upon the left breast of his robe.

((just wanted to point out this was a private thread for myself, and next time please ask first before just jumping in))

Kulan had no words to speak to the man, one whom obviously enough was known to have recently turned from the Jedi to the Empire, one whom should not be in the Jedi Temple, nor should he be anywhere near it. Kulan had nothing to say as he remained in his silent meditation, however he had others to answer for him, to deal with the trivial matters. He was the Master Guardsman, promoted newly to the position by the Emperor, given the confidence and trust to lead the Shadow Guard. It was those that were not seen that made themselves known as they stepped from the shadows, figures clad in black with a single red visor that seemed to glow as they stood silently and kept their eyes on the man whom had decided to interrupt Kulan's meditation.

Where they really there though, the figures that had just appeared from the shadows, the very same whom seemed to have merely stepped out as if they materialized from the very darkness. They spoke not a single word, maybe they could not, maybe they were nothing more than shadows, a trick of the mind or could they be solid flesh and blood, one could not know unless one looked closely, or got one to break their silence, yet that seemed a task nearly impossible in its completion as one of the guards brought his hand up, merely pointing the way out to the man as two more stood silently at the door, waiting to escort the inquisitor out of the Jedi Temple, Kulan's voice finally breaking the silence as he spoke.

"Inquisitor, you are treading in a territory in which you no longer belong. You serve the empire now and no longer have any attachments to this place, nor should you be here. If you do not leave then you will be seen as a Jedi once more and a threat to the Empire." His voice no longer rang out in the holocron chamber as they slowly moved around him over head as he sat quietly, once more delving into meditation as the shadow guards remained in place, slowly stepping back into the shadows and disappearing into them, furthering the questions of their physical state, if they were indeed corporal or not, if they were mere shadows and illusions or something more solid, only the red visors appearing in the darkness before the light dim glow of them disappeared into the shadows, no longer allowing one to see their place in the room now as the two continued to wait at the doors of the chamber to escort the inquisitor out of the temple.

As the two guardsmen escorted the lost inquisitor out of the temple, Kulan returned to his meditation as he fell to his knees, his hands resting on them as he closed his eyes. He began to slowly peer into the holocron, opening its locks from within as it began to glow, the image of a long since dead Jedi Master appearing and beginning to speak, talking of his line and who he was, and what he had done in his time. Kulan listened quietly, not speaking, not making a sound nor a move as he took in what the recording of the old Jedi had to say. He was interested in knowledge, learning all he could, knowing what it was that the Jedi knew so that he could prevent anymore from rising in the galaxy. He was thinking on what his enemies knew, to think and learn like them, to aid him in his duty in apprehending them and bringing them before the Emperor and the Empire. It was this knowledge into how they thought and acted that he wanted to know, to touch the light side of the force and use it, much like he uses the dark side. Fear, Anger, Hatred, Sorrow, these were not the only emotions one could feel, nor where they the strongest. He had heard of Jedi doing great things in their time, using emotions like Hope, Compassion, Happiness, and Love to achieve great acts. They were not that different from the Sith, each side used emotions, one was just less open to stating they had done so.

Kulan began to delve deeper into the holocron, pushing back its puzzles and locks that had been put in place to prevent one that was not yet ready from learning the deeper secrets. The holocron continued to pulse as he pushed deeper within to find its secrets, the image of the dead Jedi Master watching silently as the figure clad in black was able to delve into the holocrons of the Jedi. It was if he wasnt truly part of the Dark Side, if he had once been pure to the force and merely take down a single path, or that he had his own path in mind and that he would follow the Dark Side for as long as it suited him. Those Shadow Guards in the room had returned to their former place of standing, remaining in the shadows and leaving Kulan to his meditation, not knowing that he was pushing into the deepest reaches of the holocron to pluck out the knowledge of the Jedi. Though he was not doing it for himself, he was doing it so that he could think like a Jedi, so that he could carry out his duties to a higher ability, one that would allow him to walk the fine line between the Light Side and the Dark Side. In fact, he had already begun, Kulan had started to walk the line of a Grey Jedi.
