A visit to Chandaar

| Above Chandaar, the Vjun painted Militarised Corellian Star Shuttle "Bitterness" emerged from hyperspace. It had its diplomatic transponders on and approached Chandaar along the usual traffic lanes so as to avoid any conflict. Aboard was Bernard Oriel, lately the Hero of Dantooine, who was dressed in his splendid Vjun Tunic with a number of gifts laid around his state rooms for the woman he sought to meet and comfort. He had been delayed by the conflict but was not diminished in vigour as he sought to meet the woman he had fallen in love with from afar.
Flanking the shuttle was another, smaller vessel, a Baudo-class Yacht drifted, it was painted in a number of delightful metalic colours, its surface shimmering like oil on water as it glided elegantly alongside the Vjun diplomatic vessel. It was piloted by a pilot droid, overseen by an organic technician.
Seeing they had arrived, Oriel moved to the bridge of the star shuttle, ready to address the authorities if need be. He had given ample notification of his intention to visit and he hoped to secure some important trade meetings in addition to visiting the sights and meeting his lady friend.

| As the ship from Vjun entered Chandaar's orbit, a line of communication was opened immediately. They were very cautious and careful when it came to unknown vessels landing. The man at the control would likely not have recognized Senator Oriel when his image appeared, nor would he have cared really. "Please identify and state your reason for being here." He said formally, then waited patiently for a response. Meanwhile, one of the other crew was running identification on the ship and quickly came to realize where it was from. They had been informed that a diplomat might be arriving from Vjun in the not too distant future, they had just not known when.

Meanwhile, on Chandaar just outside of the capital city, the Kuriyoshi residence was bustling and busy. All of the wait staff was attending to their duties to prepare the house. Amneris had been gone for several days, having left to visit with her parents. Her father was very ill and her mother fallen into a pit of depression due to his deteriorating condition. She hadn't wanted to go, but with Zaracaine staying mostly to himself, she felt that perhaps she ought to. There had never really been a good relationship between Amneris and her father, mainly due to his manner and the way in which she had been raised, then her marriage arranged.
"Mrs. Kuriyoshi." A timid maid said to her. Amneris looked up from where she was sitting and writing a letter (by hand, on paper) to inform a cousin of her fathers condition. "Ma'am, I just heard that two ships from Vjun just arrived. You said that you wanted to know if or when they did, ma'am." She curtsied, bowing her head as she did before she backed from the room.
The Senators wife leaned back in her chair for a moment and let out a low sigh. It was not the best time for Senator Oriel to visit because of her family situation and with Zaracaine taking a break from Senate, but she had agreed in a letter to meet with him. Aside from her promise, she had wanted to thank the Senator in person for his kindness, something that no one else had shown her before (not that they even knew she existed).
"Domnhail...Would you arrange for a speeder for me, please? I would like to meet the Senator at the hanger bay myself, since I am sure that no other arrangements have been made." It was true enough, she genuinely did not think that anyone would have arranged for someone to meet the Senator when he arrived with everything else that had been going on. Aside from that, Amneris was genuinely polite and caring...and incredibly naive.

| The pair of Vjun shuttles would identify with their diplomatic codes and Oriel would personally reply. "Senator Bernard Oriel here, here to visit your trade ministry and carry out a little personal business in my own free time. Requesting landing clearance close to the capital. The shuttles, once cleared, would glide elegantly down to the surface. Oriel's officials would be sent ahead to the trade ministry while he himself sought to use his free time well.
A security team would go ahead of him and check the hotel suite he was staying in for traps and bugs, removing any they found and securing the area before his arrival.
Oriel would take the smaller shuttle to a hotel in the diplomatic region, leaving it parked upon it's shuttlepad and would move to the luxurious suite he had procured for himself during his stay. He would then take up his terminal and write a short message to the address he had written to before "Mrs Amneris Kuriyoshi, perhaps you could do me the honour of lunching with me in the Capital this afternoon? My treat. Yours sincerely, Bernard"
His heart throbbed with excitement at the thrill of the chase, and he had to go and have a quick cold shower before getting back to some paperwork (while waiting on a reply from Amneris).

| Before she could even get to the speeder that was being arranged, Domnhail brought the young lady a simple and brief note from the senator. She read it and let out a soft sigh. "I feel horrible, Domnhail. His first impression of Chandaar must have been terrible." She said, a hint of sadness in her voice. It bothered her, deeply, that someone of such importance would arrive and no one be there to greet them.
She moved back to the desk and sat, responding to the letter:
Dear Mr. Oriel,
I would be delighted to meet with you today. Noon? My maid tells me that The Briars is a beautiful place with wonderful food and desserts. I've never been myself, so it should prove to be an adventure.
I look forward to meeting you.

She shut off the datapad a moment after replying and looked to her maid. "It will take what? A half hour or so to get into the capital?" She asked, and the maid agreed. "I should like to clean up and change clothes first."
Amneris would take the time to do just that, and an hour later she would emerge in a beautiful crimson silk dress, before she settled into the speeder and was whisked off to the capital for lunch. With her fathers condition and her mothers delicate disposition, she felt it best not to let anyone know she had gone aside from Domnhail, as she likely would have been back before anyone would have missed her.

| Oriel went ahead to the restaurant first, bringing a selection of small wrapped gifts in a basket to give to her and securing a lovely window table. He was dressed in his signature tunic, giving him a curiously militaristic look, despite not having much decoration, instead the elegant weaving spoke for itself. As he swept into the restaurant and took a seat he couldn't help being a little worried Zarcaine might storm in and ruin his tete-a-tete.

| She arrived not much later, though she was still relatively on time. Five minutes was nothing, she felt. Amneris stood at the edge of the restaurant, hesitating by the waitress who wanted to take her to the table. She had never seen Bernard Oriel, except in holos. He, of course, would have no idea what she looked like, most likely. She had been very sheltered by both her parents and Zarc, which had been fine for her as she did not know anything different.
"Mr. Oriel?" She asked as she approached the table where he was seated. "I am very sorry for being late. It took me longer to get ready and then to get here than I thought." Obviously, she didn't get out much. Amneris watched the Senator for a brief moment with her hazel eyes before she offered him a small smile.

| The meeting wouldn't get a chance to go beyond a simple hello as Amneris' husband Zarcaine stepped into the restaurant. He had found out where she was when he came home and found not a single trace of her, of course in his worry he was about to mobilize his own bodyguards as well as the local security forces before Domnhail, Amneris' maid broke down and told him where to find her. Flanking him where two bodyguards, of course he'd leave them at the door as he crossed through the restaurant, some of the patrons recognizing him before he came to the table as he looked to his wife, completely ignoring Senator Oriel as he looked at Amneris.
"I was about to get every security personnel and our own bodyguards looking for you my dear." A general show of concern in his voice, not caring if it shown that his wife was his weakness, which she was. He may be strict, but there was something about her that many a times, he couldn't just say no. His hand took hold of hers as he lift her up, his hand slipping on a second ring onto her finger that was to match the wedding band he had already given her. It was in fact a double ring that was designed to lock into her wedding band, a circle of diamonds framing a Corusca Gem, which was a rather good size, considering its rarity. "Imaging the site when I came home and didn't find a single trace of you any where in the house. I could have sworn though I heard the bodyguards breath a collective sigh of relief when Domnhail told me where you were."
Zarcaine kissed his wife lovingly, not caring about who was watching before he looked to Senator Oriel. "I'm sorry that I must cut this meeting short. I've had some plans that I was coming home with to surprise my wife, I hope you understand." He was showing that at this moment he didn't care that the Senator was there as he escorted Amneris outside to a waiting speeder. The driver opened the door for her to get in, and when she did, she'd find that the entire inside of the speeder was filled with bouquets of Lilium "Stargazers" or rather, "The Stargazer Lily." Sitting in the middle of which was a wicker basket, a small ruckus coming from the basket as a puppies head poked out of the top.

| The Senator would enter, giving a warm and friendly bow to Ameneris, before Zarcaine appeared and started to drag her out, giving her a selection of frankly gaudy gifts with which to line her gilded cage. Bernard was shocked at how appalling the man's lack of manners were, forcing a kiss on her and hauling her away. It was apparent that Zarcaine saw her not as a person, but a mere thing to be used to line his nest, as magpies collect shiny items. Truly she was a jewel beyond worth, but deserved better to be chained to this disturbed wreck of a man.
Oriel called 9-11 as Zarcaine appeared to drag his wife out, concerned he was planning to rape the fragile young girl, the light of madness was in the eyes of the man and there was nothing such an insane person could not do. "Chandaar police? Yes, this is Bernard Oriel, Senator of Vjun. I would like to express my concern that Senator Zarcaine may be intending to rape or otherwise abuse his wife, having just dragged her out of a popular downtown restaurant, backed by a pair of toughs."

| Amneris started to offer a greeting to Senator Oriel, but was cut off by Zarcaine entering the room. While she showed no outward fear of him, she was worried he was going to be angry that she had gone without saying anything. But since she had been staying with her parents to care for her ailing father, he wouldn't have known anyway. Obviously he had dropped by for a surprise visit.
She would give Bernard an apologetic look. "You will excuse me for a moment, won't you?" She said as Zarcaine led her from the restaurant without so much as a word to the other Senator. Before she went from the door, however, she did toss another glance back at the Vjun man. "Zarc, could you have not even said hello? Mr. Oriel wanted to meet with me because he is concerned for you and us...." The woman said as she finally noticed the ring he had pushed onto her finger.
"What are you doing?" She asked, confused at the ring, then the confusion furthered when he opened the speeder door and it was packed full of lillies, her favorite. When the basket russeled, she took a step back out of hesitation before she saw what was in it. Amneris smiled and moved forward and picked the tubby puppy up and cradled him in her arms. He was wearing a large bow around his collar.
"What is all of this about?" Amneris questioned as she scratched the ears of the puppy. Before he would be able to answer, however, a cadragh of police speeders with sirens blazing squealed to a stop in front of The Briars.

| Zarcaine slid into the speeder with Amneris as he watched her begin to cuddle the puppy as he smiled, once she noticed the gifts. "I knew that you've been taking care of your parents my dear, and with the months after our marriage I spent on Coruscant, we didn't have a proper honeymoon. I came home to surprise you with a trip to Naboo." It was then that he heard the sirens wailing outside as he let out a sigh, no doubt Senator Oriel spreading lies in an attempt to run Zarcaine's name through the mud. He stepped out of the speeder as he met with the officers.
"Officers, what seems to be the problem." As they spoke to him about the call of a rape and abuse he opened the speeder door, allowing the officers to look inside. "Officers, I did not know that a man surprising his wife with gifts and a travel plan of a honeymoon to Naboo constituted as rape and abuse." He looked at the window where he had a clear view of Oriel before he looked back to the officers and let them see that Amneris was cuddling the puppy, the officers laughing as they finished up the misunderstanding before they got into their speeders and let the couple return to the plans as Zarcaine once more got into the speeder with his wife.
"I take it you like the puppy" he smiled as he watched her still cradling it in her arms.

| An Auril Sector journalist filmed the whole incident from the roadside. It was remarkable that the police ignored the incident without even speaking to the woman or Oriel, a scandal which would be repeated across the galaxy as his live feed went out back to Murkhana. At the very least the increasingly deranged behaviour of Zarcaine would be circulated.

| "Honeymoon?" She asked as she sat up a little straighter in the speeder. "Zarc....I cannot leave now. Not with my father as ill as he is." She protested with a small frown. "And Mr. Oriel came all of this way...." Amneris said as she gently placed the wiggling puppy back into his basket. "Because he is worried about you."
"And if these rumors I keep seeing on the holo are what is flying around the galaxy, then it needs to be stopped immediately. You are not some psycho like people are saying, and I have full intentions on letting Mr. Oriel know that so that he can report back and the rumors will cease." She said as she shifted uncomfortably.
She was concerned about how rude it had been to have left so abruptly, but certainly Bernard would have understood. Amneris smoothed her gown fretfully with her fingertips as she watched Zarc for a reaction. He had never let her help before, so surely there was going to be some protest now, especially because of who she was having lunch with.
