| It had frustrated her to no end the timing of it all. Firebrands and petty trouble makers, the whole lot of them. She had been in the middle of orchestrating a plot to undermine a fellow Senator who was making a bad name for women in the Senate, when her own homeworld had erupted into a veritable calamity - behind the scenes and away from the public eye of course. Her plot had been well developed and planned out, but in all the confusion she had been forced to abandon it. She wondered what had happened of course to the agents she had hired and had started to direct, but of course - they had no way of knowing who their mystery employer had been; and so it was an acceptable loss.
There had been a threat to the sovereignty of Empress Teta's ruling family. Namely, a third son that had decided he was far enough away from power to justify making a bid for it. Often away from Empress Teta herself on the matters of the Senate, it had caught Ava unawares, which by itself infuriated her. He had made his bid during the course of holidays that surrounded the ruling King's birthday, rallying his supporters and making an attempt on the King's life, but as was the Tetan fashion - behind closed doors. This of course had left the Tetan king with a bit of a problem. Should he allow this youngest son, the Prince that had betrayed him and the entire family, his whole sector as a whole - to live?
Had the would be usurper not been so closely related to him, the answer would have been a simple and quick "no." Those that would be assassins deserved nothing better than a quick and quiet death. This however, was not to be answered quite so quickly or easily. He called for the Senator to be recalled from her duties to return to Empress Teta and help in the decision making process. So Senator volFyr returned to Empress Teta, dutifully of course and was appraised of the situation. It was perhaps a bit complicated for her as well. The third Prince was something of an old friend of her's - they had a more than brief romantic fling as teenagers when she had been enrolled at Koros Major for university and he had been home for a time on leave from the royal family's customary service as officers in the Imperial Navy.
Her first answer would have been to kill the would be assassin as well, but the Prince was...well, it wasn't an easy answer for her either. So what to do? His older brothers were both in favor of putting the youngest son to the sword, after all - he had betrayed them as well, he would have killed all of them for power?
The royal family was understandably at a loss. The King and his wife favored clemency for their wayward youngest, the elder brothers wanted him dead, and aside from the guards that had prevented the assassination, only Avadrie knew of what had occurred. The problem, as far as Avadrie could see it, was simply the distribution of power. The third son was as far away from true power as any royal scion could get. The first son was content to one day be King, the second son was already a successful career officer in the Imperial military, so what to do with the third son?
Avadrie of course, had a solution. His punishment would be to become her chief of security. He had been trained in combat during his own time with the Imperial military, obviously had a penchant for violence and perhaps away from Empress Teta his seditious ways might be assuaged; or at least better ignored. These deliberations and decisions were made over the course of a few months, and finally Avadrie was able to convince the King of the soundness of her plan. So it was, that in the last week aboard the Star Petal that Avadrie and its crew made it back to Imperial Center, albeit with a new member aboard, Prince Raphael Damar of Empress Teta.
