(( The following events are to have taken place between the ending of the New Separatist Council Meeting and just at the beginning of Meeting on Aargau ))

It was odd in some ways that Shiva had not placed an exploration of the Danjar Sector higher on his to-do list. It could have stemmed largely though from the modifications that had been at last completed to the Divine Shadow and the trade of the Imperial-I-class Star Destroyer to what Shiva was sure would be some very happy members of the Libs who could now have a mobile, if somewhat lesser armed and engined base with which they could continue their assaults against the Empire. Based out of the Elrood Sector, particularly areas protected by the Kuras Drift, Shiva did have knowledge of the Metharian Nebula Territories; one of which happened to be the Danjar Sector, best known to Separatists for the planet Queyta which, although being a lava world, had housed a Separatist base. Naturally, though the Separatist movement lay defeated and even Shiva thought of himself less and less daily as a 'Separatist' and more of a rebel, the fact remained that, even supposedly picked clean as he assumed, Queyta might well still hold unplumbed secrets or at least offer an offshoot to his primary operations.

It would be largely inconvenient to appear himself, or even to send one of his well-known Theta-class shuttles to investigate, for the aforementioned shuttle had become something of a trademark he would need to steer away from in the future. Luckily, the Red Mynocks had recently returned from a successful mission to the Panna System and while the results of recruits and aid were not spectacular, Shiva felt confident that the Mynocks would be able to boost their number by at least a half-dozen to a dozen ships. For now though, their friends remained where they'd been found and it was the Mynocks who, after getting rest and relaxation, would be sent on a scouting run.

As an advance party, the modified JumpMaster 5000 Caliph's Sun and a quartet of Planetary Defender Starfighters acting as escort dropped out on the far fringes of the Danjar Sector, immediately raising shields to be safe, of course. They would begin a slow cruise in-system, focusing on Queyta, with sensors on full and active, visual or otherwise, as they set their spread-out formation. As a precautionary measure, nav computers were set to make an emergency jump out of the system if disaster struck, and while none was expected, it was the Mynocks' standard operating procedure. Of course, no energy sources were expected at all from Queyta; it was supposedly an abandoned and likely run down or destroyed Separatist base. Time would tell what they would learn.

Queyta had been quiet since the clone wars, when its base was destroyed and fell into the lava river which it overlooked, or at least many believed. In the time since a new resident took up the remains of the base, even able to salvage a few pieces still intact to be used in the new base, which was a bit larger than the old, mainly due to the couple of diamond class cruisers parked on the surface that acted as the bases' defense. Before the ship could even come closer though a highly powerful system of scanners picked up the vessels before a scanner jamming signal was brought up. It was a good defense, shielding the base and its contents from those that had come into the system, yet it was double edge, it would prevent the base from knowing exactly where those ships were, as well as send out its own commands to the vessels that remained in orbit on the dark side of the planet, which had also picked up the vessels when they dropped from hyperspace, only to lose them and contact with the base. A sign that shown the base had powered up the signal jammer.

The Captains of the vessels had to be the eyes now to see where the vessels were, though the base had its own trap set up. They would let the vessels come in closer, let them take a closer look before the jamming signal would be dropped to let the investigating vessels realize they were not alone. The world keeping the larger vessels on the dark side hidden as they remained in a stable orbit, watching the vessels coming in closer to the world as they readied their battle stations.

The crew of the Caliph's Sun were experts at their trade, be it robbery, pillaging or various other forms of outlaw work; the men in the fighters were no less. They were, one might even say, among the best in their trade. After all, how many pirate groups had routed not one, but two Star Destroyers and lived to tell about it? Beings experts, they had to analyze the data carefully. The fact that there was no information coming back; not even data on a ruined base, was not suspicious enough in itself to cause undo worry. Nonetheless, they would proceed with caution. Sending off an encrypted hypercomm message stating to their superiors that their intent was to close to within roughly forty thousand kilometers of the planet and obtain a direct visual through hi-resolution cameras of the base site.

If the jammer worked at the extreme ranges of the five ships in relation to the planet, that would be a dead giveaway of a presence and as such, they would react accordingly and fall back. If not, however, they would still cautiously approach at half speed, sensors scanning not just the planet, but space surrounding as well.

The base would periodically shut down the jamming array that kept the base hidden, picking up the movement of the vessels and sending a quick encrypted message to the waiting fleet before the array would be activated again. The actions of which would appear to be on many sensors just roving magnetic storms caused by the shifting and volcanic activity of the planet below. Queyta was picked by Rall specifically for this purpose, it provided defense from lesser sensors that are often found on smaller vessels, due to the many particles often in the atmosphere of the volcanic worlds that seemed to hinder scans from orbit. The base though was on full alert, every now and again with each time they would shut down the jamming array and pick up the vessels, they would continue to track their flight path, the same information being available to the vessels in orbit on the dark side of the world before any order was given. They wanted to make sure the ships where close enough in that it would be difficult for them to leave.

The captains of the Munificient Star Frigates in orbit where waiting for their order, resting between the two ships was an older model of a Trade Federation Bacta ship, which since then had been modified into a carrier, its droid fighters waiting for the order to swarm, as a squadron of Hyena class bombers was also waiting to be ordered into action, even though they'd more then likely be held in reserve, not wanting to risk the bombers in a first wave attack, as they were often sent in to finish off a vessel. The fleet waited patently as they stayed on the dark side of the planet, Queyta slowly orbiting until soon enough, the base also fell into the dark side of night, making the locating of it, that much harder. For all intents and purposes, it seemed as if nothing was on the world, and there was no real reason to be there, anything of value having been lost during the clone wars when the first base was originally destroyed.

The keywords, of course, were that 'for all intents and purposes.' Shiva didn't deal in possibilities, but absolutes, and it was absolutely needed for information on this world, which could well become his next outpost as he spread about. The Caliph's Sun and the four fighters fell into a relative geostationary orbit on the 'day' side of the planet. Nobody liked having to do all the extra work, so it was decided by a brief game of chance that one of the Planetary Defender pilots would zip around to the dark side of the planet and do a quick visual scan of the base from high orbit to ensure that all was still unoccupied while the rest waited for him to return.

The fleet remained in the shadows, the dark side of the moon, along with the fleet having shut its lights off made it difficult to make out anything in the darkness. The ships working on minimal energy as the crews watched the small fighter come around from the other side of the world. The crews watching closely, letting the small fighter move closer until it was right on top of the ships before they switched their lights on, the weapons quickly training on the fighters as the captain of one of the Munificent vessels opened a channel.

The pilot of the Planetary Defender was frozen for a rare moment, having approached so close to such vessels without having spotted them. Of course, his video recorder was also tracking what they were even as he yanked the controls, slamming his body back against the seat with high-gravity forces as the ship went into a tight turn that almost shook it apart. Even as he jinked and dodged, slamming all available power to the engines, he opened a comm channel to his own small group.

"Contact contact contact! Regroup at point alpha!" It was, of course, a panicked mistake. The correct action would have been to identify himself, but when faced with such things, he turned and ran, startled and surprised. It was rather embarrassing for the Red Mynocks, but it had the effect of causing the other three starfighters to loop around, covering the Caliph's Sun as it turned as well, all ships planning on moving more outbound in the system to retrieve the story from their panicked member and then deciding what to do.

Seemingly forgotten about, or overlooked depending on ones position, was an older Trade Federation ship. The vessel, once having been used as a Bacta supply ship, was now retrofitted and had joined the fleet as a carrier. In the time that the vessels had remained in a stationary position, before being woken from the slumber due to the small fighter, the carrier had moved into a much higher orbit above the fleet, a position where it's fighters could do the most damage as they began to stream from its bays, the swarming mass of droid starfighters picked up on the single one that was now attempting to regroup with the others that had arrived with it. In a mere moment they locked on their target before entering into a steep dive, coming upon the fighter, quickly letting loose a volley of fire as six of the droid starfighters swooped down. The others moving into groups and beginning to target the other vessels in the area, the larger ships now coming to life and leaving the dark side of the world, the same message once more broadcasting on the open channels.

"you are in a restricted area, leave now."

The lone Planetary Defender fighters were only lightly shielded; designed for customs forces and not space superiority combat, which was where it found itself in the hands of the Red Mynocks, it was not in its best roll. The craft had excellent speed and acceleration, but it was no match for the Vulture droids that swooped down on it and blasted it apart in that single volley; the ship exploded into atomized parts. The remaining three Planetary Defenders, as well as the Caliph's Sun had the advantage of distance between them and the pursuing droids.which meant that odds were high they'd easily escape to hyperspace, heeding the warning that had been given.

Fortunately, perhaps, they still retained the images taken of the varied ships that had assaulted them, as well as the twice-delivered message that had been sent. Then, in a flash, they were gone, jumped to hyperspace.
