"I suppose you didn't get any information that would have helped you at all there." Ilanah Thanatos said to her spouse as she boarded their ship. The party had been rather uneventful, with only the announcement of Galactic Aide and the pledges of assistance from the other Senators that had been present. Though, maybe he could have gathered some sort of information that would at least appease the Inquisitorious, though she doubted it highly.

Ilanah dropped herself down into one of the comfortable seats in the sitting area for the moment. Her feet were sore and ankles swollen from standing, which was normal. On top of that, she was exhausted. "I would like to go home, Kal." she said honestly, though they both knew that it could not happen just yet. She needed to soon, of course, because soon they would be welcoming their son Caden into the world. aside from that, Avadrie volFyr would be coming to visit.

"But I may need you to take me to Derailia. Caden needs a godfather." She mentioned thoughtfully, as if she had been thinking it over for a while. She had been wanting to see Titus Veritas for a while, since he left Senate, and she thought this might be a good opportunity.

He took the pilot seat, setting the coordinates for Derailia as she has asked to be taken to. He would continue to punch things in as he would answer her, "I wish I had found out some kind of information while there. However, what you were all brought there for, it seems a little too good to be true. I couldn't seem to place it, but I think that there might be something behind this Galactic Aid. Just be careful, Lana..."

The ship was prepared for it's departure and would begin it's travel to their next destination.

"That Avadrie woman seemed like she could be a good ally in the Senate for you, no?" He would ask, believing that the two of them could build a good friendship.

The Senator shot him a glance when he told her to be careful. "A little more than Galactic Aide?" She asked questioningly. It all seemed rather straightforward to her, but he was more intuitive than she, so she did tend to take his advice if it seemed sound to her. Her gaze went back to her datapad for a moment as she awaited his response to her question, and she took the time to send a note to Seraphine to let her know where they were going.

"And I do agree. I've already made arrangements for Senator volFyr to visit on Chandrila once we return. She has a few places she has to go first, of course, so it will be perfect." She said as she glanced forward to see what he was doing.

Once the ship was in hyperspace, Ilanah took the time to rest and relax until they arrived at Derailia. It was, luckily, an easy trip, so she managed to get some sleep. After they gave them clearance to land, Lana cleaned up and changed her clothes and then contacted Titus Veritas office so that they could make arrangements to meet.

Kal's head would turn to his wife, giving a puzzled look, as he answered her question, "Yea...you didn't find anything out of the normal about that meeting? Maybe it's just me trying to find something to bring back. Who knows? We'll find out eventually."

Upon mentioning his work, his thoughts began to wander off for most of the rest of the trip. Could he really be able to do what it took to move up in the ranks? His heart had changed as well as his mind. Part of him believed that he wouldn't be able to take a life if needed. It just wasn't in him anymore. He knew that would hurt him in the long run if he wasn't able to change that. Lana wouldn't like it, but Kal knew that he needed to fall back into the darkness for all of this to fully work out for them.

Kal snapped out of his thoughts as he began to bring their ship down into the cleared landing area and Kal waited for Lana to inform him of their departure time.

The transport would be guided into Mithra's starport by the traffic controllers, even granted an escort by four Deralian V-19 Torrent Starfighters. The starport they landed in, and the city itself, seemed to be something out of antiquity. It in fact was. Mithra had gone unchanged since its essential founding, appearing as it did long ago, with modern technology seamlessly incorporated into the structures and city. It was a beautiful mix of old and new, and conversion of the old into useful objects of the modern day. The spaceport had in-fact once been a massive seaport, its "forward" sections still acting as such, sitting at the "head" of the city, which was nestled against a mountain range, which the city ran up into until development at the time was halted by the terrain, and in between two rivers, which merged together into one massive river that flowed into a bay a few hundred miles away. Lush forest, with farming ares interspersed, surrounded the hilly and eventually plains terrain in-between the city and the coast. Along the banks of the city sprang massive fortifications, which had yet to be breached... and upon observation, the defenses too, were as modern as any, constantly being updated. The city was much a cultural center as it was a massive fortress. Some, a very small minority, views the maintaining of these defenses as useless and a waste of time.

One man who did not think so, was Titus Veritas. He wanted his world ready to brook any threat, and should the day come that Deralia itself sees war once again, even its surface would be ready to defend itself. He had spent his time, since returning home, mentoring the young new Minister of War, and was now preparing to take the position of Consul, or speaker, of the House of Lords. He had even been granted the title of Viscount by the King, making him the head of House Veritas. He had become somewhat of a recluse of late, spending time in his estate in the city preparing for his return to the birthplace of his political career, however he was not beyond personally greeting Ilanah. When she finally emerged from the ship, she would find him standing in the landing bay, awaiting her. Off to the side, house guards, wearing the colors and markings of House Veritas, stood, keeping their eyes on everything. Behind him, sat a civilian V-19 Landspeeder and two armed Seraph-class Urban Landspeeders, all three adorned with the markings of his House. They would take them to his home, once they were ready to depart the landing bay.

Before the Senator left Kal so that she could change, she paused and rested her hands on his shoulders and smoothed her fingertips lightly over the soft fabric of his shirt. "You are thinking too much of it, my love. Relax." She murmured before she pressed a tender kiss to his cheek, lingering longer than she normally would have. The truth was that she was worried for him. He was restless and she could tell that. And she knew that he needed something to do, but part of her didn't want to let him go just yet, especially with their son being so close to being born.

After the ship landed in the bay, Ilanah waited a few moments for Kal before departing the ship. The guards present didn't bother her in the slightest. Even if one were to try and bring her harm, she had a much better defense on her side, Kal. He was always on the alert and ready, so it seemed, and she felt that he constantly watched out for her no matter where they were, even at home.

She lifted the hem of her blue empire waist gown as she stepped off of the end of the ships ramp and then moved over towards Titus. Ilanah had stopped bothering to hide her 'condition', as some called it, so he likely would have been a bit surprised as the lithe young lady he had seen last time was nearly ready to have a child of her own. It was part of what she was there to talk to him about, after all.

"Titus!" Ilanah exclaimed as she moved to him and took both of his hands, squeezing them lightly with her own as she kissed the older gentleman on each cheek. "You look well." She said, though in her mind she felt that he looked older, from the stress of recent months most likely. And then without missing a beat, she turned her gaze to Kal to get him to come closer. "Titus this is my husband, Kal Thanatos." She said, politely introducing them before Titus could steer them in whichever direction he wanted.

He was just a few steps behind her as she had moved down the ramp of the ship towards the bay and the men that awaited them in there. He would move up beside his wife as she greeted the man she excitedly exclaimed to be named Titus.

Just as he was introduced to the man, Kal's hand would extend to the man, "Pleasure to meet you..." Hopefully his hand would be met by the man's, and the greeting be returned. If the greeting was returned, Kal would remain silent, letting the two of them continue on with their meeting is what seemed to be a while.

The guards didn't bother him at all, as it didn't for Lana either. Being a man with his talents and in the position he was in, there wasn't a need to be worried about them. He wouldn't give them a need to worry, either, unless provoked.

The guards would largely ignore the Inquisitor, at least ouwardly. Inwardly, were he to peer in, he would be a, in fact, destabilizing presence to all of them. Except Veritas. No, the guards were not there against them, not for them, they were solely for Veritas. The Separatist Movement, what was left of it, anyways, had become increasingly vocal in its wish for violent opposition to the Throne and the current government. Not to mention the opposition movements on the moons now arming themselves once more. The Tau militias seemed to be readying themselves for war recently, and they would love nothing more than to take out Veritas.

He responded in kind to Ilanah's welcoming gesture. He had missed her, most of all, since he left the Senate. The seemingly always happy Ilanah was a pleasant aspect of the Senate. He missed seeing her nearly every day. He noticed the obvious bulge of pregnancy; it suited her. He had heard rumors of her pregnancy, and now had the evidence fully in front of him. He showed a rare, wide smile at her. "My dear, it has been far too long," he spoke to her as she directed him to her husband. He gave a honorable bow to the man. "Inquisitor Thanatos, a pleasure to meet you," he spoke to him. Whether or not he was outwardly displaying himself as such, he knew of the man. One of the more successful Inquisitors of late; a welcome respite from some of the more bumbling members of the order, as he was sure the Inquisitorious itself felt.

Once introductions were finished, he led them to his speeder. After a brief security check, the guards would board the speeders as well, and the convoy would off to his estate. They sat in the modified backseat of the Gian, converted to fit up to six individuals, with two three-person opposing bench seats. He would sit on the forward-facing side, giving them the rear-facing bench to sit on. As they moved through the city, he looked at Ilanah, with a smile that had yet to fade from his face. "How have things been in the Senate, my dear?"

She had been very nervous about the meeting, just because of introducing Kal to the other Senator, but it seemed to be going swimmingly so far. Titus would surely learn very quickly that Kal was not like all Inquisitors, if all went well. After all were introduced, Ilanah followed Titus and got into the speeder before she took a few moments to settle down.

"Titus, the senate is hardly the same. The day you left was horrible, I hope you know that. I had every intention of accompanying you at least to your ship, but unfortunately my aide detained me with other issues." She started, then drew in a shallow breath before letting out a sigh. "And I am afraid that your Queen and I are not going to be as good of friends as you and I. Our opinions differ too much and...." She gave Kal a glance for a brief moment. "Well....anyway....maybe if we met in person some time we might not clash so much. I am not sure." It wasn't that she didn't like the Queen, in fact, she didn't know the woman on any kind of personal level to be able to judge her as such.

"I did come for a couple of reasons though..." She changed the subject and smiled to the older man. "One...I am worried about you. On a personal level, mostly. And two..." Ilanah paused and shifted her weight in the seat. "I have a favor to ask of you. It's a rather big favor...." She smiled brilliantly and then reached over and squeezed Kal's hand lightly.

He chuckled at her. "It is quite alright, my dear. I would rather you not see me in that kind of mood. I am a little embarrassed you saw it in a professional manner, and would be horrified to see you witness it personally." he said. Before he could respond, they would already be at his household. It was a quiet day in Mithra, and he would step out of the vehicle, and help both Ilanah and her husband out, and then lead them away from vehicle area, and into the main area of the courtyard. The ground was stone, but his gardners had done what they could to bring nature into the city environment. He lead them, slowly, down the main path, towards the fountain at the center, and ultimately beyond and towards the main household of the estate, talking as he did so.

"Go easy on the Queen. I know she made a rough impression, but frankly... even I wouldn't look so grand if I walked into the mess that she, herself, volunteered for. Hell, she was able to get past a mess that ended my career. It is a testament to her political superiority... and it shows she is right where she needs to be. If you give her time, and look closer, you may find you too, are in fact far more similar to each other than you think. Read up on her public personnel file, sometime Perhaps you two should meet?." He thought for a moment of setting up a meeting while the Queen was also briefly on Deralia, but with the King hospitalized, she was more than likely too busy for such an event. "I must say though, I am a little hurt that you did not oppose the Deralian Chastisement Act, or stand with either of our attempts to repeal those unjust and horrendous penalties against us." he said to her.

He kept his smile, though, despite being slightly troubled that she could not have helped him or his people in such a trying time. He would not hold it against her personally, however."But, that is in the past, and there is nothing that can be done now. Bah! You came here to visit me, not listen my crotchety ramblings! Now tell me, why are you worried about me, and what have you to ask?" he said, seeming slightly anticipatory of her answers, as she had deeply intrigued him.

"I admit that my stance on the Derailian Chastisement was virtually non-existent, Titus, and perhaps in hindsight it was wrong of me to ignore it so, but there were some underlying issues in the back of mu mind that were preventing me from being as objective as I should have been. I am sorry for that, certainly. If I could do it again, you know that I would have been fully supportive." She would leave it at that for the moment, as he was correct, it was in the past. There were more important things to be concerned with at the present.

After a moment of hesitance, Ilanah nodded. "I would be more than happy to meet the Queen in person. I heard on the holo on the way here though that the King has been hospitalized, so I assumed it would not be possible on this trip. Although, anyone in the hospital should have flowers....perhaps we should take him some." She smiled brilliantly and watched the older man for a moment. It was just part of her charm and unyielding kindness, to want to take something as silly as flowers to an ill king. If nothing else, it said a lot about her character and her as a person.

"Ah yes...the favor. " Lana said as she slipped her arm around his, nestling her elbow comfortably around his arm before she laced her fingers together. "I am afraid of few things, Titus, but there is one thing I worry for more than anything else in this galaxy. My son, Caden. So I wonder if you would be his godfather. I don't have any family left and neither does Kal...and I want to make sure he is protected and taken care of if something should happen to either of us. Its so uncertain in this galaxy anymore, even with the Empire. " Inwardly, she knew that her unsettled feelings were actually because of the Empire and what her son would be, not the rebellions. Of course, she couldn't tell him that.

((I am terribly sorry I let this thread slip like this, you two. I have no idea what happened...))

"She is a very dedicated, wife. Your instincts serve you well on that matter. She is, however, someone of similar heart as you. Like I said, just give her time. I will try to send a message to her that you two should personally meet. I believe it would do some real good." he said to her, smiling seemingly non-stop since seeing her. She had a certain effect on him, no matter the situation; he could always count on Ilanah to brighten his mood. Perhaps it was her personality, perhaps something more. He felt a somewhat fatherly instinct towards the woman, and it seemed, whether in a state of awareness or not, a reciprocal aspect of their relationship. He listened to her favor as he walked them into his household. For as impressive as it might have seemed, it was rather humble within. All of the furniture, all works of art, had been hand-crafted by local artists. Not for himself though, just work that they had done. It was Deralia within his house, in the truest sense.

They were seated by the staff in a small and intimate, but comfortable, lounge area. The smell of fresh bread and seasoning could be smelled from where they sat, and soon, breadsticks were offered to the two, along with wine for the Inquisitor and flavored water (grape with a slight spice to it) to the Senator. He was silent as they were serviced, and once they were comfortable, he spoke, having considered her, honestly, surprising request. It was the first time he had not smiled the entire time they were here. He didn't seem unpleasant, just deep in thought. No matter the events that had transpired, he was a politician at heart. For a Senator who at times had slightly questionable loyalty, to approach one of the stalwart Imperialists of the Senate, a man who was a "friend" of the Emperor; it couldn't help but raise a few alarm bells. He was decidedly less Imperialist these days, and had become the icon of the moderates of the Senate towards the end of his career, but concern still invaded his mind.

'What are you up to, Ilanah?' he thought to himself. If he only knew, it might've completely changed his mind on the conclusion he reached, at this very moment anyways. He cast out his suspicions, chalking them up to the atmosphere of constant paranoia that seemed to come from being a galactic Senator, which he was yet to shake completely, and smiled once more. "I am shocked, and... honored by your request. For a Deralian, being a Godfather to a child is a sacred vow, one filled with absolute trust and sanctity. I share your concerns, in regards to the galaxy; it is unfortunate. I, humbly, accept what you have asked of me. I will be Godfather to Caden Thanatos," he said, now accepting a glass of wine himself, in part to celebrate and to make his guests feel more welcome.

The Senator settled down into the offered chair comfortably, and rubbed the side of her stomach idly as she did. She was sure that he kicked to warn her of something at times, though she couldn't imagine what it could be. Titus' hesitation concerned her, but only for a brief moment before he agreed to her wishes.

"I just know that it is a great deal to ask, Titus. But you are the only person that I could think of that I could trust." She had considered Tremaine and his fiancee, of course, but if something were to happen to her, Tremaine and the position he was in would not be safe enough for her liking. There really was no one else.

Ilanah took the offered glass and sipped the flavored water carefully as she looked over the edge of the glass at the aging ex-senator. "But of course, it is just a precaution, and so that our son has family...more than just the two of us." Family was important to her, and she felt that it likely was to Titus as well. Though she would not voice it, she worried that family could be what hurt Caden the most should something happen to his parents.
