Recent Dissension on Slovo and Slovo Minor Sparks Fears

SLOVO - Trouble between Argazdan and Lorrdian mining guilds in Destrando City came to a head last Primeday in the form of shootout that left three dead and nearly a dozen wounded. Argazdan guildmaster Tolicerian Pavat was quoted as saying, "[this] is an outrage! The Lorrdians still bear us a grudge for their enslavement that ended so long ago. After so much reparation that has been paid, they still attempt to throw the matter in our faces and expect us to sit there quietly? Well, I can tell you it wasn't my worker who pulled a blaster!" Lorrdian guildmaster Tiberius Lophan could not be reached for comment, but one of his adjutants was available to say, "The Argazdan members of this city have been in constant conflict with us. We bear no ill will to the Argazdan people for their past transgressions; all of us are loyal members of the Empire and we work to support our worlds." Despite the conflicting views, the fact remains that two Argazdan workers and one Lorrdian worker have been killed and the wounded, Human and Ugnaught among them, are left with a sense of unease as to what will happen next.

The troubles between the Argazdan and Lorrdian guilds is only the recent tip of the iceberg on Slovo and Slovo Minor, where an influx of crime as been echoing from Slovo to relatively peaceful Slovo Minor; a relatively unsettled moon that is home to a number of races that engage in the lumber and mining industries. Slovo Minor's local guild-run police forces have reported a surprising rise in criminal activity in the past several weeks, leading certain experts on Kelm to wonder what will come next. Sector Moff Kanzad Shirnoq was unavailable for comment on the situation, but his office published a statement that read, "The situation on Slovo and Slovo Minor is within control of the planetary governor(s). There is no need for Imperial intervention at this time."

Vigilance Technologies Prepares to Unveil New Product Line

THOVINACK - Long-standing producer of new technologies for military application company Vigilance Technologies has promised to unveil a new line of products that spokesman Ralph Torrent calls "A breakthrough for planetary defense forces with applications reaching as high as use in the Imperial Army." Known for their innovative droid designs that have become commonplace around the Kanz Sector and surrounding sectors, Vigilance Technologies' founding and credit has gone to philanthropist Alyn Stark, Lord of the Kinyov Province and former head of House Malos of Lorrd. Despite the nature of Vigilance Technologies' products, which some herald as machines of war, the company maintains a strict policy against selling to conflicted worlds, stating an intent to better the defense and security of all people and not to terrorize or subjugate. Regardless of what naysayers may care to comment, Vigilance Technologies' stocks have risen over 60% with the news of their upcoming product release.

Kanz Sector Citizen Honored

IMPERIAL CENTER - Lord Alyn Stark of the Kinyov Province on Lorrd was granted the Civilian Medal of Honor in a ceremony on Imperial Center on Taungsday after a recommendation passed in the Senate nominating him for the award. The Civilian Medal of Honor, one of the highest commendations available to non-military personnel, was awarded to Lord Stark for his founding of GalacticAid, a humanitarian foundation designed to help refugees around the galaxy when faced with displacement or tragedy. Lord Stark, when asked to comment on his thoughts, said, "I am humbled by the thought that went into the awarding of this medal. It's the men and women and sentients who work in the facilities who are the true heroes, as well as those within the Senate who helped make GalacticAid possible."

Concerned Citizens Speak Out Against Thrill-seekers

GETH - Geth, a lifeless, dangerous planet filled with hostility at every side, manages to attract dozens of thrill-seekers yearly who attempt to brave the wilds of the world, leading many to their doom. With recent deaths rising in the last two years, many concerned groups have begun to speak out against allowing people on Geth. The latest death, that of Lorrdian native Jeromious Tibyll, 16 (name used with parental consent), who left home with a group of older friends whose names have been withheld at this time. Tibyll's mother, Isansia, gave a tearful recollection of her son as a "thrill seeker who might have lived many more years if the government had some system in place to at least limit the ages of people who visit that [expletive] planet." Geth, having no government or system of rule, has been used from time to time by the braver planetary defense forces wishing to train in a harsh environment, in addition to drawing numerous civilians. Despite the urging of concerned parents and other advocates of personal safety, the Kanz Sector government still refuses, at this time, to limit the access to the planet. "Free will is free will. It's not our job to police every person who wants to take their lives into their own hands," stated Moff Shirnoq's adjutant, Major Rynson.
