Brentaal Unveils Revolutionary Starfighter Design

In a statement to the Imperial Senate, Brentaal has unveiled a new "drone starfighter" design co-designed by Industrial Automaton and Kuat Drive Yards (KDY), to be manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering, a subsidiary of Kuat. The Arrowhead-class drone starfighter, an interceptor model, is "inspired by the cost-efficiency of the Imperial TIE fighter," according to today's statement, and is intended for public sale once Brentaal's defense and customs forces put its capabilites to the test. Arrangements haven't been finalized with Rothana, but a KDY official told the Trade News he expected the Arrowhead to sell for as little as 100,000 credits per unit.

"By the Empire's grace, we anticipate this fighter design will be widely adopted," said the honorable Senator Sir Reuke ur'Tsyne Cambrist in the statement. But he also acknowledged that the design is a gamble, as droid starfighters are out of fashion and still widely associated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which used droid starfighter models almost exclusively in the Clone Wars. "This design represents the future, not the past," Senator Cambrist said, preferring the term "drone" rather than "droid" starfighter.

Analyst Lars Tanfelt told the Trade News that the Arrowhead's cheap price tag would make it a success, where other drone designs over the last decade have failed. "An Outer Rim planet could buy itself a squadron of these for a million credits," Tanfelt explained. While Brentaal's Arrowhead interceptors will reportedly be equipped with shield generators, the standard design doesn't include them, saving costs on shielding as well as life support and other pilot accommodations.

"And the onboard computer, designed by the galaxy's leading droid designer, Industrial Automaton, will also allow the Arrowhead to interface with most networks," Tanfelt added.

In his announcement, Senator Cambrist praised Brentaal's open bidding process to create the best design, in contrast, he said, "to the insular and communistic research and design 'projects' we've seen from some sectors, like the Cronese Mandate, which is known to be unfriendly to industries that aren't its own." Brentaal, the Senator said, "recruited the best Imperial talent in the galaxy to create the best possible design."

Favis Resort Expects Record Attendance This Year

Brentaal's galaxy-renowned Favis Resort is expecting a record number of guests this year as the tourist season—and the 10th anniversary of the Empire's founding—approaches. "Tourists from all over the galaxy will be converging on the Core Worlds for the anniversary celebrations," Lars Tanfelt, analyst for the Trade News, explained. Many Imperial officials and veterans of the Clone Wars are also expected to visit Imperial Center, and the Favis Resort is one of the most popular—and luxurious—accommodations in the Core. Higher-than-average tourism is also expected, as a reduction in piracy in the last year has encouraged more tourists to travel abroad.

The Favis Resort, an artificial island situated on Brentaal's mild southern sea, offers a number of inviting villas to choose from in a variety of climates, and recreation such as boating. The Resort announced that it would provide free shuttle service to and from Imperial Center during the Empire's anniversary celebrations, and Brentaal plans to waive its ingress fee for visitors.

Correction: "There Is No 'Repletion Project'"

Last week's edition of the Trade News reported on the existence of a secret Brentaal government program referred to as the "Repletion Project," and having to do with the planet's problem with over-population. Our source for the story, a person close to the ruling House Cambrist who has provided us with reliable information in the past and prefers to remain anonymous, has told the Trade News that he was mistaken, and that no such project exists. Asked to explain the discrepancy, the source said simply, "There is no 'Repletion Project.' I have nothing more to say about it," he added, "Nothing more."

Officials with House Cambrist continued to deny knowledge of the project, and suggested the Trade News drop its investigation into the matter.
