Successful Defense of Praesitlyn Boosts Ratings for Khedive Thisst
Following the cowardly attack on Praesitlyn several weeks ago that left a number of human and Sluissi residents of Praesitlyn, as well as miners from a multitude of other worlds working under Brentaal dead, a second attack was launched at Praesitlyn. Pirate craft in a dozen starfighters and a mixed assortment of freighters attempted to assault Praesitlyn, but were stopped by combined elements of the Sluis Sector Defense Fleet and the Sluis Van Defense Forces, resulting in a near-annihilation of the pirate forces and even more importantly, the capture of nearly a dozen of the pirates. Even now, interrogators from Sluis Van and Brentaal plan to gain knowledge of who was behind this cowardly attack. "This has been a major breakthrough," Senator Toben Domon of Sluis Van was quoted as saying. "The sooner we can find the culprit behind these attacks, for we do believe they are linked, we will be able to fix this rift that exists between the Sluis Sector and Brentaal," Senator Domon went on to say.
With Praesitlyn under the watchful eye of the Sluis Sector Defense Fleet, and with the successful removal of the pirate forces, Khedive Strass Thisst's poll ratings have risen dramatically. One citizen of Praesitlyn, Paul Ramos, had this to say: "We were concerned that the Khedive would not be able to include us under the umbrella of protection that is afforded Sluis Van; he's shown us otherwise."
Praesitlyn to Receive New Drone Defense
To assist the three IPV-1 system patrol craft currently dedicated to the defense of Praesitlyn, largely due to the recent attacks, Khedive Thisst has purchased a number of drones from Outer Rim defense contractor, Vigilance Technologies. While some have commented that the Sluis Sector's use of drones reflect badly upon the sector for their part in the Clone Wars, Senator Toben Domon had this to say: "A lot of worlds were swept up in the Clone Wars on either side. All that matters now are the worlds who support the Empire, and those who don't. Sluis Van and the Sluis Sector as a whole have proven their loyalty; unquestionably. The utilization of drones as a defense is an act designed to save lives and to increase the security of an entire world. If our detractors are so frightened by thirty-six drones, then they are rather foolish indeed." The drone defense of Praesitlyn is expected to be installed fully and operational later this week. Praesitlyn, it is hoped, will be one of multiple sites in the Sluis Sector that offer drone-augmented defense to help save lives within the Sluis Sector.
Sluissi Fighter Design Approved for Sale on Open Market
The Flare-class fighter, recently included as part of the Sluis Sector Defense Fleet and created in-home at Sluis Van Shipyards will soon be offered on the public market. It is hoped that this new design will meet with approval from a number of Outer and Mid Rim worlds and sell rapidly. While not specifically aimed as a competitor to any specific design currently in service by any major world, the Flare-class fighter is intended to carry on the multi-role purpose of combined interceptor and bomber, a platform that is not often paired together, but is well-blended in this SVS design. "We have high hopes for this design," commented a source at Sluis Van Shipyards, "We feel confident they will sell extremely well."
