10 Years Ago:

The girl leaned over him and carefully pulled the gelatinous patches of bacta from his skin. Her gaze trailed over the burns that covered part of his chest, shoulder, and arm. After she threw the used patch into the trash, she brushed a loose strand of raven hair back from her face and tucked it into her loosely tied ponytail. She curled her legs up under her on the side of the bed, beneath the skirts of her full, plum hued silk gown, as she worked. Nimbly, she gently pulled the remaining patch from his chest, just below his collar bone. The wound beneath still looked angry, despite the stitching that the physician who had come to see him had done. The piercing wound was obviously made by a lightsaber, and the burns on his tanned flesh were the residual effect.

Her hazel gaze flitted over his closed eyelids for a moment before she turned her attention back to what she was doing. Mon Mothma had brought him just three days prior, unconsious and wounded from a fight, to the only place nearby that she knew to be safe. The home of the Chandrilan council member and his daughter, Rebel supporters and Jedi sympathizers. Immediately when the physician left, she took over, and gently used a washcloth and warm water to clean the dirt and grime from his arms, chest and face, all of which were obviously from the fight. In the days following, he still didn't wake, but she still sat with him and cared for his wounds.

"It looks a little better today." She murmured to him as she worked. The physician had told her that the man wouldn't be able to hear her, but she was convinced that it would help him. In fact, she had talked to him everytime she checked on him, and sometimes she sat and read to him.

Carefully, she swiped a cotton pad that was soaked with antiseptic over the burns and over the wound. With her fingertips, she applied a natural poultice of herbs and other plants to the burns. Already the singed skin was bubbling and peeling back to reveal the new skin beneath. She knew that he would be alright, as long as he woke up. After the poultice was applied, she began to lay fresh bacta patches over the burns and the wound to help further the healing. Over that she laid gauze pads to keep the bacta in place and prevent infections.

She packed up the medical box and sat it on the nightstand. "I'll be back after while to check on you." She said as she turned to slide off of the bed. When she did, she felt a hand rest on her own and she looked down to see his fingers gently wrapping around hers. Her gaze moved up to his face and her hazel eyes met his own peircing cobalt blue ones. "You're awake." She said, a little shocked as she watched him quietly. He was more handsome than she had originally thought he would be, his eyes being the deciding factor in that.

"You've been taking care of me." He said, albeit his voice was a little hoarse from not speaking.

"I have. Are you in pain? I can get more pain meds...or anything you need." She said softly and he responded by shaking his head.

"Just....your name." He whispered.

She hesitated for a moment and then a smile flitted across her petal soft lips. "Ilanah...Ilanah Ilyone."

Three Years Later:

"Lana come on, we have to go!" Her father insisted as he grabbed his daughters hand and started leading her from the manor. The sound of blaster fire rang through the corridors and from around the outside of the manor.

"What is going on?" She demanded as she was pulled, though she nearly had to jog to keep up with the fast paced man. "What happened?

"The surgeon." Marcus said simply. The surgeon who had come to care for the Jedi had sold them out to the Empire, likely for money. Either way, a battalion of Stormtroopers was laying seige to the manor and were determined to take the councilor either dead or alive. He was a traior to the Empire, after all.

He pulled his daughter from the manor and into the gardens onto the path that would take them to the landing pad where his personal shuttle was waiting ready to get them off planet. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the blue of a blue lightsaber flashing as it deflected blaster shots and tore down Stormtroopers left and right with ease.

In that moment of hesitance, an armoured arm wrapped around her and tore her from her fathers grasp. He turned to get her and the other arm raised and the Stormtrooper fired three shots, striking the Councilor in the chest. As if it was in slow motion, she watched her father fall to his knees and then to the ground, and she screamed. And she struggled, to no avail.

Suddenly, and she wasn't sure how, she was free from his grasp and ran and dropped to the ground next to her father. She tried to get him to open his eyes, but he wasn't breathing, it was too late. Another strong pair of arms wrapped around her and pulled her up and away from the body. It was Kal, she knew it was Kal, but that didn't stop her from fighting against him, her body wracked with sobs.

He pulled her onto the ship and she could hear him yell to the pilot to take off. Despite him trying to support her, Ilanah found herself on the floor, in shock and in tears.

Two Years Later

Ilanah backed away slowly as Kal spoke. Each word he spoke felt like a kick in the stomach, some were a stab in the heart. "Please stop, Kal....you are scaring me." She murmured. The young woman had been his wife just over a year now, and he was breaking her heart into a million pieces. His talk of darkness and desire to kill was terrifying to her. She had always known what he was, of course, but he hadn't always been like this.

She had fallen in love with a Jedi. A good, honest man. And in those days, he never would have harmed anyone, unless it was for the side of good. This man speaking....he was not her Kal Thanatos. No, he was someone else. The man stepped towards her, his once cobalt eyes now yellowish-red with rage. "Ilanah, no. You have to see what I am trying to tell you."

Fervently, she shook her head. "Just leave me alone. I need time to think." Ilanah could tell that he did not want to leave, or give up on convincing her. She was confident that he would not force her to see his way, but he was not backing off. "Please Kal...if you still love me at all....please." She pleaded with him. The woman was still backing up, and she bumped into the railing that edged the large hallway that overlooked the foyer. He would have been faster than her, undoubtedly, so running was not an option. Instead, she did the only thing she knew to do.

Ilanah dropped her gaze to the floor and she nodded a little, steeling her resolve. "You're right." She whispered, her voice barely there, just to appease him for the moment. "I'm sorry I doubted you." Ilanah said before she moved to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. She seemed genuine, but he would be able to feel that she was still afraid. That little bit of fear was what would make her run that night, when he was asleep, and did not expect it.
