| For all intents and purposes, he was dead. As far as the Empire was concerned, anyways... and the entirety of the Jedi Order. Ever since Ord Torrenze, which saw him, in his mind, nearly kill Vader, but also saw the elimination of what was one of the strongest resistence forces in the galaxy at the time. His duel with Vader was tragically cut short by a crashing ARC-170, that nearly killed him, Vader, and his former apprentice Ruhk.
He ensured that they were not seen leaving, and had been assumed by the Empire to have been crushed by the crashing ARC-170, and both listed as dead; added to the Order 66 Casualty Report. It was perhaps as much a move of assumed certainty, as it was of propaganda; the Admiral in charge of the fleet ordered an orbital bombardment of their base on the planet, shortly after the recovery of the wounded Vader, denying the chance to confirm exactly which Jedi had been killed in the battle. The results of such an ambitious decision were indeed, deadly.
He had taken advantage of the anonymity for eight years now, using it to move about the galaxy as freely as one could, travelling to Karvoss II to learn the way of the Matukai. He proceeded to journey to Eshan, where he learned the martial arts of the Echani people. It was on this world that he discovered a holocron, which provided the knowledge to be instructed in Teräs Käsi made by Jedi Master Anoon Bondara. He would soon, after leaving, end up on Yanibar, with little fuel left in his fighter and the hyperdrive of his jumpring needing replaced. While he was allowed to land, the locals only hoping he would leave quickly if they allowed him to do so, he found himself unable to trade with any vendor on the planet.
It took months of being an outsider, before the locals began opening up to him. Eventually, he was approached by the Zeison Sha, whom he requested training from. After proving his abilities in several tests, he was accepted into the group. As with the Matukai, he took time to first learn their ways, and then adapt it to his own style and use. As with the Matukai, he refused to contribute anything to their philosophy but their own lessons, out of respect of their distinct culture.
By now, he was among the finest Zeison Sha Warriors, and considered one of their own. Many begged and pleaded for him not to leave, but he felt his presence would be a threat to Yanibar and the Zeison Sha. So, with little ceremony, he left in the cover of night, while the spaceport was closed and most of the area around Sha Kalan was closed. His astromech, R4-P12, known otherwise as Wu, which was painted blue as his fighter, awaited him in one of the secret hangars used by the Zeison Sha.
It was hard, honestly, for him to leave. With his homeworld one of the strictest adherents to the Empire, becoming a "model world" in fact, Yanibar was the closest to home that he had had in a very long time. He was the last Atrisian Jedi, and one of the last Jedi in general. It was a hard lesson to come to grips with; being the last of something. He honestly hoped he could find more Jedi out there, like him, who sought nothing more than to the right the wrong they had suffered under. He was slowly becoming less Jedi and more an avatar of Vengeance, on a warpath to the Sith Lords who had plunged the galaxy in darkness. One day, his mission would be fulfilled... one day. As he lifted off from Yanibar and sped into orbit, he began meditation on his next path, while Wu conducted a search for reports of Jedi. He need to find as many Jedi as he could; he needed Generals, Generals to lead what he would build next. An army to fight the Empire once more.
