| It had started with her seduction of Moff Rainier Brandt, which had of course started with the series of events evolving from her business involvement with a one Mr. Winter, assumed to be an outlaw of one ilk or another. Interestingly enough, very little had come of the concerns arising about Mr. Winter and what it might mean for Empress Teta and the rest of the sector, but her subsequent affair with the Moff had far reaching consequences, some good, some bad..and some yet to be determined.
Politically, the relationship was exceptionally expedient for Avadrie, at first. While the pair had kept the relationship discreet to a point, it was perhaps one of the best known secrets on Center and within certain circles that Moff Brandt was bedding he distinquished Senator from the Deep Core. This had opened some doors and closed others. The Deep Core Moff, whom previously had been a man holding a certain distaste for the Tetans and their Senator, had been replaced with a younger and more malleable protege of Moff Brandt, and since then trade tariffs and other
barriers to carbonite trade had been reduced or removed, increasing the GDP of Empress Teta rather significantly at the cost of the industry's autonomy as it became more and more controlled by the desires of the Imperial establishment. Avadrie had her suspicions that the new DC Moff was less malleable than she had at first thought and Rainer had promised, but she couldn't prove it. Life after all, was good on Empress Teta as a result of his appointment, wasn't it?
Then it had begun to interfere with her duties as a Senator, as the Moff required her presence at more events and galas and whatever else the Moff insisted that his arm candy / mistress be present for. Her aides had filled in admirably enough so far, voting along with the Imperialist party line as Ava had instructed them, but more and more Rainer's dominant personality and far reaching tendrils of power came to control more and more of how Avadrie spent her time and political capital, which was a feminist apologist and Imperialist from a Deep Core world was considerable.
She was also concerned about the inroads Rainier had made with the Tetan monarchy, regularly having drinks with King Leonard and the other members of the family, inviting them to affairs, numerous meetings of state and economic deals arranged that greatly benefited Rainer, (financially, and under the table of course), and in a tribute to the Tetan ideal of discretion, very little made it to the press about the moderate fortune that Rainer's relationship and new connections to the lucrate Tetan carbonite industry was making him on top of his already considerable income as the Imperial Center Moff.
It had benefited Avadrie personally of course, and perhaps was the most significant reason she had allowed the relationship to continue. To start, Rainer's power was intoxicating and continually piqued Avadrie's interest in the man. He was vigorous as a lover and his aura of intimidation extended to her as well, as minor to moderate beauracrats cowed in the face of her demands due to her close association to a man known to be both vengeful and arbitrary to a fault almost. It allowed her the opportunity to further develop her art as Madame Pencron had taught her, using her dark magic to keep the good Moff under her amorous spell. As much power as Rainer had taken in the relationship dynamic, it was perhaps somewhat balanced by the paranormal thrall Avadrie's sensual appearance, manner and dark arts he was kept in.
So what would come next, as Rainer was busy with the affairs of the Empire and Avadrie had time and space to re-emerge into the public spotlight?
