| ((On point one, I consulted management on the issue, and they okay'd the sudden appearance. While the force seems overwhelming at first glance, I will make an attempt at giving certain weak points that can exploited throughout the fight. On point two, as I said, they would be approaching from above and below, forward of Shiva's position, coming out of hyperspace near the poles, and moving in. They would have jumped in towards the poles, however the error in their navigation would have given them luck in dragging them along the gravity well in an attack angle towards Shiva's ships. Driving them into the planet would indeed be a more efficient and effective means of attack, but while trying to give myself some edge here, and I'm taking liberties and making calculated mistakes; also, if an enemy force's location is unknown, it would make sense to drop out at the poles. On point three, what Jace said.))

| (( I assume that makes it Eel's post? And man, it's not a fight. It's a straight slaughter. Call it like it is, at least. Lol. ))

| Dantooinians weren't known for their intelligence, but they sure could scrap. The fighters, now having been informed that they were part of the "target" of the raid pulled back to the atmosphere above the capital using the gravity to help their speed, hoping to intercept any incoming fire from orbit in the form of the missiles by helping hugely the ability of the Dantooinian ground forces to intercept them. The warning signal was broadcast to all houses over the public wireless system for them to evacuate all major population centres, with the exception of the Militia who already had bunkers equipped. The Seps message was recorded, the threat of Genocide would add to the reams of evil deeds listed in Imperial Propaganda to demonize this group.
The Gozanti Cruiser also took an unusual step, moving behind the space station's bulk and hillbilly armour wall it had thrown up and skimmed into a hangar through a shutter behind the shields. This added the requirement for the opposition to break through the space station's shield and hull to reach their chosen target.
The DP-20 also had no time for being captured and so aborted it's flanking motion on the Shivan vessels and just gunned it's engines away the battlefield. Vastly faster than the Separatist Capital ships it already had a keen lead on the fighters, whom it would lock onto and fire upon if they attempted chase. As the Imperial vessels appeared it hailed and identified itself to them, turning toward their battle line and asking where they wanted help.
Irritatingly, from the outset of the launch of the Separatist fighters the sublight radio frequencies were stuffed by the space station with the Theme tune of the Dantooine Militia.

| Sensors were a beautiful thing, especially when properly attuned. Shiva was aware of the fact that he could come under attack by a number of forces, be they opportunistic Separatist remnants, Imperials or even pirate organizations, at any time. As such, the sensors on his vessels were indeed maintained. While in deep space as the Imperial vessels were, presumably close enough to Dantooine to be able to make such a quick jump (albeit far, far beyond normal sensor range), the Cronau radiation signature from so many vessels was indeed picked up. Captain Raithallo would not be taken completely by surprise, and by the time the Imperial vessels emerged at Dantooine, the trio of vessels had already begun to warm hyperdrives.
Here of course would be where things got dicey, but there were a few items in favor for Shiva's forces. To begin, the Imperials had emerged above the respective north and south poles of Dantooine and after exiting hyperspace, they would still need to cut in their sublight engines (which they would have done, presumably), but it took time to accelerate vessels of that mass to top speed. This was where Shiva had the edge.
At extreme long distance from their target, the station, Shiva's forces had been over forty kilometers to place them outside the station's weapon range and barely within the reach of their own long-range cannons. What the Imperials would see, therefore, was the continuation of a maneuver that had already begun; the Sword and Shield were presenting their broadsides to the oncoming forces, completing the turn they'd started after their salvos had been fired. Providing nothing happened to deter this turn, they would continue out-system and jump once the hyperdrives were warmed up. The Divine Shadow would begin its own maneuver though, dropping 'down' relative to the turning ships and twisting about as it recalled its fighter squadrons. The pincer would have to close, after all, but with Shiva's vessels already at full speed, they had the starting edge, and seeing as the distance would require some time and movement, it might well be enough for Shiva's forces to at least make a blind jump out of the system. 'True' weapons locks by the Imperials would be difficult at the great range, but for now, Shiva's forces were outside actual engagement range.Added (28 May 2012, 2:49 PM) --------------------------------------------- (( It's been nine days, so I'm going ahead with my post. ))
Luck was with Shiva for once; the distance his vessels were from the Imperial forces, coupled with their quick turnaround and the response of his captains, would save the day more or less. The interdiction craft may well have powered up their gravity wells, but they were not in range to utilize them; the Imperial warships, massive and powerful, might well have been bricks for all they could do. Shiva's forces executed a hastily programmed jump to hyperspace, vanishing just as soon as the last fighter was collected aboard, for they'd been retreating back into the ship since shortly after launch. The Imperials would do well to track them, but the longer they waited, the worse the odds were of actually finding them. If nothing else, they had a lead that Shiva did exist now.
