Conflicts Rise on Slovo
KANZ CITY- Despite seeing no end to the open warfare that has plagued the mining facility of Destrando City since late last year, Imperial forces are still unwilling to step into the Lorrdian-Argazdan conflict. In an effort to restore "peace, order and good profits for the Empire," according to Argazdan spokesman P'krit D'nath, Argazda had dispatched a Neutron Star-class bulk freighter to render "medical aid, food supplies and serve as a base of operations for extracting Argazdan wounded in this senseless conflict." Despite this stated purpose for this vessel, there are those within the Lorrdian cabinet that believe otherwise. "Does this so-called aid vessel truly need thirty quad laser cannons and a troop compliment of two-hundred?" This question was posed by Lorrdian Defense Minister Alexander Moss, who was quick to fall back on the past conflicts between Argazda and Lorrd. "The Argazdan people may apologize to our face; there may be those who even truly feel apologetic for what was done in the past, but the majority manage to flaunt it against us somehow. Lorrd will prepare a response of proportional size to ensure that Lorrdian interests at Destrando City are properly represented." Destrando City's estimated population of 2 million sentients has not been retaken since the conflicts began, and casualties are said to be high among both sides.
Lorrd Engineering Completes Expansion; Profits Rise
KOL HURO II- With the completion of renovations that began last year on a multitude of Lorrd Engineering facilities in the Kol Huro System, Lorrd Engineering has experienced an eighteen-percent rise in stock shares. With upgraded shipyard facilities on Kol Huro II and V, and a subcontract from Ubrikkian Industries to produce the upcoming HAVr A9 Floating Fortress on the Kol Huro VII facilities, Lorrd Engineering is on a rising plain to compete with larger companies across the galaxy. "Part of our ability to make profits stems from our ability to produce our own construction droids in-house," stated company spokesman Jerrod Phelps, referring to the Lorrd Engineering droid foundries on Kol Huro I, IV and VI. "Overall," Mr. Phelps went on to say, "Lorrd Engineering is a rising star here on the Outer Rim. With continued good investors and the expansions we have already planned for later this year, we foresee that Lorrd Engineering will be become a major contender in the coming years."
Vigilance Technologies Takes a Hit
THOVINACK- Vigilance Technologies stock dropped twelve points this week, coinciding with the arrest of CEO Alyn Stark of Lorrd and the utilization of several drone designs that were slated to be released this year. While accusations have flown regarding the dangers of such drones, especially those of Vigilance Technologies make and in light of the recent droid uprising, Vigilance Technologies, spokesman Ralph Torrent stated that, "The designs utilized by Mr. Stark in his much-publicized actions on Imperial Center were not indicative of Vigilance Technologies' drones as a whole. These models were specially produced for Mr. Stark and did not encompass the new safety features and recognition programming utilized by the newer models."
Despite some misgivings, Vigilance Technologies has gone ahead and unveiled three new designs; the T-009 Thunderbolt interceptor, the S-005 Striker assault drone and, surprisingly, a drone designed for purely security, non-lethal purposes, the HC-001, or HoverCam model one drone. While the T-009 and S-005 series are still pending licensing approval, an order for two dozen HC-001 models has been reported to have been placed by the Dorvalla Universal Corporation for use in their Dorvalla Penal Facility on Dorvalla. Interestingly enough, while Vigilance Technologies' drone sales have decreased, weapon sales of Vigilance Technologies' affordable 'AA Burst' and 'KE Submunition' warheads have increased, leaving some analysts to wonder whether or not Vigilance Technologies is actually on a downward spiral or remaining level.
"We've taken care to sell our weapon technology only to certified governments," spokesman Torrent stated, citing the worlds of Sluis Van, Commenor, Druckenwell and Breeka as examples. "It should be noted, of course, that our products run in comparison to the proton and concussion warheads presently utilized within the wider galaxy. It is our hope that Vigilance Technologies will manage to make a name for itself with these new weapons as competitors for the existing warheads."
Stark Defense Conglomerate a Heavy Contender
KINYOV PROVINCE- Though a relatively new contender, Stark Defense Conglomerate is a very promising company that is shooting through the ranks. Keyed for public defense and supplier of paramilitary planetary defense forces, Stark Defense Conglomerate is the newest name on a number of lips, from the Core Worlds, where it's multimillion-credit state-of-the-art skyhook, Stark's Pride, rests above Imperial Center, to the Outer Rim where it's founder, Alyn Stark, hails from on Lorrd. "Every man and woman has the right to self-defense," Mr. Stark said in an interview earlier this week from Lorrd, "Stark Defense Conglomerate offers that. True, we manufacture protective combat, recon and daily-use armors for planetary defense forces and a number of police forces. True, we manufacture arms. However, once one looks past the naysayers who simply call S.D.C. a 'merchant of death' company, any informed sentient can see we are anything but! Our aim is to corner the market on non-lethal defensive items, which we've already begun to do. Over sixty worlds already market through Stark Defense Conglomerate's companies on a regular basis." While some are unsure of how far this new company will rise, Mr. Stark's intense statements have drawn the interest of even more eyes, some of which are likely to become buyers.
