| "The Callahan family have been rather quiet in their movements since they lost their spy, and since your attack on their spice storage facility." Cantelagno sounded quite pleased, at least to Yhemn's ears. Yhemn supposed the man had every right to be; he'd sealed the deal with Blackfire and seen a harsh blow dealt to another criminal family with minimal losses to his own personnel.
"Then I'm glad you're pleased, Mr. Cantelagno."
"Well, it's a blow against one criminal family. However, the Dubeck family in Durollia haven't been quiet since they went to war with us. I suspect they're finding a way to ally with the Callahan family in Pegg. The Callahans had no reason to love us before, and I have no doubt they are much less happy with us now."
"So Mr. Cantelagno, if I'm understanding you right, you'd like us to put an end to to any agreement the Dubeck family might have with the Callahan family. We can do that easily enough."
"The word we have is that the Callahans are sending a delegation to Durollia for the meeting. You'll have to travel there and either deal with both sides or remove the Callahan delegation."
Yhemn chuckled. "All too easy, Mr. Cantelagno. All too easy."Added (07 Aug 2012, 5:32 PM) --------------------------------------------- "This is the route of attack, gentlemen." Yhemn tapped a pointer against the map that showed Durollia and the outlying areas. It had been two days since Yhemn had met and discussed plans with Cantelagno and was now meeting with his reorganized forces. Yhemn was not unused to leadership; his place during the Clone Wars had afforded him eventual control of a platoon, but nothing larger. Nonetheless, the same basic tenets still applied.
"The Callahan family has four possible approaches to Durollia. In addition to localized police forces, which we can assume the Dubeck family has pocketed, Durollia is also known for some little paramilitary force. It shouldn't be anything we can't handle though, especially with the extra assets we've brought to bear. That being said, we have a week's worth of planning and acquisition time. Spend it well, gentlemen, for we're about to start a bit of a covert war. Mr. Cantelagno does not want the Cantelagno family directly involved with this, and to that end, we're going to keep it in the shadows. Directly attacking the Dubecks or the Callahans will not work at this time; we need to strip away their alliances and law enforcement protection and then, then we will drop the hammer."

| The fact that the Dubeck family hadnt been quiet since the initial strike from the Callahan family wasnt from a single source. While yes news from Durollia spoke about the renewed crime wars between the families with the Dubecks at the forefront, there was between the civilians a hush hush story of a group of peacekeepers that had finally had enough of the criminal families and the constant deaths that their wars against each other had brought against the simple people. The truth was the Dubeck family didnt just have one enemy in the form of the Cantelagno family, they had another force to deal with in their own home port. A group called the Durollia Peackeepers had arisen in the city, viewing the newly opened crime wars as the perfect time to strike out against the Dubecks. After all, what better time to hit a crime family than during a crime war that said family was embroiled in. Any deaths to the Dubecks from the peacekeepers would be viewed as strikes from the rival families, though if the Dubecks were fully removed from Durollia, there wouldn't be a power vacuum for anyone to fill in. The Durollia Peacekeepers already had their own plans to secure the city once they pushed out the Dubecks. It was clear from the civilians that they were tired of the constant crime wars between the families, and with the local law enforcement sitting on their hands, either too lazy to take action or too corrupt to prevent it. There were still those few that were loyal to the law, of course the Peackeepers knew that they would face the most resistance from these law enforcement officers and from those corrupt officers that would attempt to stop their actions.
For the moment the law enforcement wasnt a concern, their primary target was this possible meeting. Something this large wasnt going to go unnoticed or unheard of in Durollia for too long. Not too far down the street from the Dubeck family complex was two BARC speeders, the pilots of the two speeder bikes sitting quietly, large desert cloaks covering themselves, a dual purpose of keeping them cool as well as keeping the armor they wore covered. One sat quietly as he pulled out a pair of binoculars, slowly twisting the dial on the side as they zoomed in on the main gate of the Dubeck family home as he took a count of the guards and watched to see if any vehicles left the complex, knowing that the time for the meeting was getting closer. For the most part the Peacekeepers had kept a watchful eye on the Dubecks, small patrols of speeder bikes going by now and again at random hours, some even carrying packages on the back to make them blend in as simple couriers transporting packages through Durollia.
The Peacekeepers though, while known for being a paramilitary group, hadnt actually taken any action yet against any of the criminal families. For the moment they had offered security for a few of the shop owners, even taking a handful of would be thieves and arsonist in to the local law enforcement station. Though since the war had started they kept an eye on the Dubeck family and had learned their habit of movements and their own "grunts" movements.

| The Dubeck family had lost a few of their own, that much was common knowledge; they hadn't fared well against the Cantelagno family and it was indeed no 'real' secret that they were meeting with the Callahan family. The Peacekeepers would have a bit of time to set up their own plans as well, the meeting wasn't due for another four days now and counting down. That being said, the Dubeck family was practically expecting the Cantelagno family to make a move. What they didn't know and indeed, what even the Callahan family didn't know was that the Cantelagno gang now had outside help.
The Dubecks, for their part, were aware of the Durollia Peacekeepers. Even as a paramilitary group, they had a reputation for getting the smaller undesirables off the streets but they'd never interfered with the Dubeck family's operations. It was for this reason that Wilhelm Dubeck, leader of the Dubeck family, had instructed the Peacekeepers be left to their own devices, if watched from time to time. It would have been foolish to leave such an organized group unobserved in his own back yard, so to speak.
The meeting between the Callahan and Dubeck representatives was to occur in a public park, twelve blocks from the local police precinct which was firmly under Dubeck control. Police presence would be stepped up in the neighborhood, which consisted mainly of apartment buildings that were more than a dozen stories in height.
Elsewhere, Yhemn was making his own preparations. One of his team had already infiltrated Durollia, not quite a hard item considering the amount of people that came and went between cities and the fact that he was not marked as a criminal family member, and while Yhemn planned to have a team on hand for backup, as well as Hinot in the Chigliak, there seemed to be no real need for anyone outside Yhemn and two other sharpshooters, neither of whom would be actual members of the Cantelagno family. It was planned, more or less, for Yhemn to take the shot or shots that would eliminate the Dubeck man. What had been thrown in as extra planning would be to remove the local precinct's captain to lessen police protection for the Dubecks as well. In short, Yhemn planned to strip away their layers of defenses one by one until only their own home was secure. From there, he'd make the kill.

It wasnt the fact that the Peacekeepers hadn't hit the Dubeck family, it was merely the fact that the youngest son hadn't reported it. Then again it would be humiliating to have to report that he was left nude and hanging off the side of the building while his own guards attempted his rescue, leaving one of the smaller Dubeck family casinos open to the Peacekeeper raid, a raid that was chalked up to and blamed on the Cantelagno family. The Peacekeepers had already set their ow plan in motion, which would be ready before the next morning. For the moment they merely kept watch on the Dubeck family home, making notes on the regular routine of the guards and the comings and goings of the family members, as well as their most traveled and least traveled routes. At the end of the day it was pretty clear that the Dubeck's were ready for a meeting, and the Peacekeepers were ready in their own right.
Having set up their plan, they marked the most likely route that the Dubeck family would take to the neighborhood, of course this route was the most likely and the shortest. It was also one that had more than enough alley ways that crisscrossed between the buildings, each one large enough to fit a single hover truck, which is what the Peacekeepers planned on. In the middle of the night the heavy gates of the compound opened, two WLO-5 speeder tanks slipping out into the night as they moved silently to the main route, setting up in alley ways on each side of the street. One block up and one block down from the two speeder tanks were hover trucks, each one tucked back into an alley way which would be signaled to pull out when the time came. The vehicles would create a road block with the only available alley ways in the small three block radius being filled and covered.
At the same time a group of the Peacekeepers were getting ready as they boarded the VAAT/e that was waiting on the air field of the compound, along with it were two Dragon gunships that were primed and ready to take action. This second force was to hit the Dubeck family compound while the first force hit the convoy, a means to split the Dubeck forces in half, while other minor roadblocks further up would prevent the paid off police officers from getting to the Dubeck's in time. All that was needed now was to wait.

| (( Odd. You post like Carl and your profile is very reminiscent of his style. ))
The day of the meeting came at last. It was a rather bright and sunny day and quite pleasant, the perfect sort of day for a clandestine meeting out in the open. The Dubeck family, by and large, were practically ready for anything, especially with the suspected raid the Cantelagno family had conducted on one of their casinos. Not everything matched up completely with the Cantelagno M.O. but enough of the signs were there to sway the already paranoid Wilhelm Dubeck into increasing security. To that end, not trusting (and rightly expecting) Cantelagno spies in Durollia, not one armored repulsor limo but three departed the Dubeck compound, each diverting away from the main gate and heading via a different route to the meeting spot. Inside one of them, one of the elder Dubeck children, Randolph Dubeck, was intended to act as the negotiator to the Callahan family. One of the limos, inadvertently, would actually end up taking the street that the Peacekeepers had set their trap upon.
Elsewhere in Durollia, the Callahan family had arrived early for the meeting. Two of their own armored repulsor limos had come to a stop near one of the entrances to the tree-heavy public park. They had brought thirteen of their soldiers, as well as one of the Callahan family to act as the negotiator. The Callahan gang had been told to expect an increased police presence and indeed there was; the city seemed almost saturated with police cruisers and even small one-man platforms that scooted about on the sidewalks. The Dubeck family had placed a lot of time and effort into local security and anyone at all who was attempting to disrupt the meeting area would find it difficult to simply barge in.
What neither the Dubecks, the Callahans nor the Peacekeepers knew what high, high, high up above and quite unobtrusive from a sub-orbital level, the Wayfarer-class freighter Chigliak was keeping an eye on things from Hinot's extensive sensor systems. The man was, after all, a technological genius in his own way. Yhemn, however, had a much better view of things. Having infiltrated a day and a half prior, alongside Grekkik and Yeekry, who were quite thankful that aliens were not an oddity and something to be extremely noticed on Antared III, Yhemn had managed to set up a rather nice spot to fire from, concealed far behind the blinds within an empty apartment window. Situated in other apartments ranging from the top story to just high enough to see into the park were his alternate shooters and spotters. Now all he was waiting for was the arrival of the Dubeck representative.

| When the limo turned down the street it was given a few blocks before it was brought into the "kill zone" that was set up. Pulling out in front of it where there two hover trucks, their drivers pulling against each other and making it look as if they had both pulled out at the same time only to collide into each other. A couple blocks behind the limo however the two other hover trucks pulled out, blocking in the limo. In mere moments the streets were cleared of all civilians, leaving only the blockading trucks, and the limo out in the open. This was when the two WLO-5 speeder tanks pulled out, their weapons trained onto the limo as they covered the groups of peacekeepers approaching the limo. Two teams with two members each as they kneeled down at the back of the limo, using it for partial cover. While the limo was indeed armored, assuming the glass was also, it was still vulnerable to a point. Each team moved close enough as they pulled out a frag grenade and some tape, strapping the grenades to the windows before they pulled the pin and rushed to the back of the limo.
A loud explosion tore through the air as the grenades went off, weakening the widows, or otherwise outright breaking them apart as the two man teams used the butts of their rifles to break the rest of the glass and pull open the doors. Even without the grenades being flashbangs, or stun grenades, the sheer force from breaking out the windows would have been enough to greatly disorient any passengers in the back along with the driver as anyone in the back, if there was, would be pulled out before the doors unlocked. A third two man team approached the drivers side door and pulled out the driver, detaining the driver and passengers using strong zip-tie cuffs. Anyone whom was in the limo was now captured, and lead off to the two waiting WLO-5 speeder tanks, being throw into the back before the hover trucks were pulled off the street, and the tanks driven away, leaving only the limo as a reminder that anyone had been there. By the time the smoke settled there would be no one left at the scene, with no prints or evidence to point towards anything other than a crime family hit.
It would only be a few moments after the limos had left the Dubeck family compound that over head ran three gunships, a VAAT/e and two Dragon gunships, their weapons targeting any anti-air defenses first as the two Dragon gunships lit them up with their belly mounted laser cannons. The VAAT/e moving over the main building of the compound as heavy ropes dropped down. On these ropes repealed two teams of four, the first group securing the roof when they landed as the second group came down. Their took aim at the door on the roof, approaching it and stopping as they broke the lock off with a quick burst of fire. The gunships remained over head on station to offer support as their weapons scanned the area. The two teams of four moving cautiously into the house and securing the corners of each room they moved into as they began to clear out the main home one room at a time. As they burst into the main office they quickly fired on anyone whom was inside, of course their weapons were set to stun the entire time, preventing any loss of life as they secured the main office and began to search through the Dubeck's records as well as finding their safe in the room.

| The paramilitary group was quite efficient at their capture operation. In this they were successful, but they were unsuccessful in the regards of actually capturing a true target. The limo they cut off had held seven men, all quite armed with blaster rifles, but they were a diversion. When confronted with tanks, however, a sight that was quite hard to hide from civilian eyes that peered from nearby buildings, the men inside surrendered without a fight. Unfortunately for the Peacekeepers, Randolph Dubeck was still on his way to the meeting, secure in the knowledge that all was going to go well, at least to the knowledge that he held.
Far up above in orbit, the fast movement of the VAAT/e transport and the Dragon gunship were easily noted in an area that was currently being monitored by Hinot and the men on board the Chigliak. Utilizing the secure comm system they had, Hinot relayed the information down to Yhemn. "Boss man, it seems we have a trio of fast-movers closing on the Dubeck compound. I get the feeling they aren't there to say hi- wait, there's weapon's fire. It seems someone else is muscling in them. Any orders for us?"
Yhemn, down below, had watched as the Dubeck repulsor-limo pulled up to the meeting site and gave it a brief moment of thought. If someone else was indeed moving against the Dubeck compound, there might be a way to capitalize upon that. "Don't interfere. Mark all craft and keep an eye on them where they go. There's not so much air-traffic in the city that this will go unnoticed. I'm pulling my team back to let this meeting go down. We'll keep our ears out down here but I don't see any issues with exfiltration. See you soon."
Cutting comms, Yhemn used hand signals to move his team back to their departure points. This was indeed an interesting turn of events; the Callahans certainly didn't possess that sort of air support, and he knew the Cantelagno family didn't utilize Republic designs, nor the strange sort of gunships Hinot had described. It wasn't the Empire either, which left few culprits.
At the Dubeck compound, there were no dedicated anti-air defenses and as such, the VAAT/e would find itself unopposed when it landed the eight men. Unfortunately, they'd find the Dubeck compound a bit hard to storm with just eight. By and large, military operations were dictated by two factors: numbers and training. It wasn't unheard of for much smaller forces to overcome greater odds if they possessed better training and gear. In this regard, the odds went to the raiding Peacekeepers. However, to counter that, the Dubeck family, having pulled in some of its soldiers, had fifty people within the compound and they knew the layout of the land, even if they were not trained as well as the Peacekeepers. Being little more than iron-fisted thugs, they did not lack intelligence (in some cases), but they didn't have the same cohesion of a well-trained military unit.
Coming in through the top floor, which was more of a storage area, the teams would find themselves under wild fire from an equal number of guards who'd stormed to the top level to try and cut off the intruders. While they were likely to go down stunned, their rapid-fire weapons were set to kill, unlike those of the Peacekeepers. Down below, a team of ten were rushing Wilhelm Dubeck to a safe-room some two stories below, which would lead to a tunnel out of the complex; no smart criminal left himself without a getaway path, after all. Unfortunately for the Peacekeepers, that left at least forty armed thugs moving to positions to halt the intruders within the house. The Peacekeepers would find that with the speed of their assault, they'd be able to secure Dubeck's office rather quickly, as well as one of his safes that was concealed behind a painting. The safe, if cracked, would hold a portion of the records of illegal dealings within Durollia and a number of names of officials he'd bribed for a bit of this and that.

| The group of seven men would quickly find themselves being pushed into a hover van before it pulled out of the area, the two tanks being pulled into a nearby alley which. The fact though was that the civilian populace was on the side of the peacekeepers, a group that had so far taken care of the civilian populace compared to the corrupt police force and the criminal families and members in the city. The moment the tanks pulled down the alley way a false facade was pulled down to show the alley way was shorter than it really was, with large tarps being draped over the tanks to hide their heat signature as they were shut down and sat quietly, and guarded until night came, when the streets would be relatively empty and make it easier to pull the tanks back to the compound which would happen much later in the night. The seven men however wouldn't be as lucky as they thought. The moment they threw down their weapons, the blasters were collected, and the men stripped of any armor, or items that they had on their bodies, leaving them in only their underclothing before the hover van was pulled up in front of the local police station. The side of the van opening as the door was pulled back before the seven, now stripped down men, where thrown out, while tied up, onto the steps of the local police station, being left to be arrest and most likely released by some corrupt cop as the hover van pulled away. The van, if the police decided to follow it, would be found later down an alley and abandoned, being left empty with no trace of whom ever might had been inside.
The team of eight made it to their target, the office, not Wilhelm Dubeck. Four of the men held the door, as two more forced the large table over and took cover behind it, keeping their weapons focused on the hallway as they fired down the killzone, taking out anyone whom attempted to come down the hall. Two men worked on the safe as they tore the painting down. One man bringing up his weapon as the other stepped back before firing a blaster bolt at the locking function. A simple pull on the handle and a heavy beating on the sides with the hinges forced the door open as they pulled the information from the safe, leaving it empty before they set up a fragmentation grenade within the safe along a line. Closing the door just enough to keep the pin in. The team of eight nodded to each other before they made their break out. Their weapons and training being of a higher caliber than the simple training and weapons of simple criminal thugs. The team of eight taking the same route back to the roof that they had take coming down to the office. As a means to quicken their extraction one of the two Dragon gunships moved down lower in the courtyard, its bellymounted laser cannons aiming at the lower hall before it began to fire into the building, tearing out the windows and tearing through the walls as the team of eight moved up to the roof, the VAAT/e having come down to hover as the first two jumped into the cargo space, turning around to aim at the door as the rest of the team jumped in. Their mission completed as the VAAT/e began to lift off, its own weapons aimed at the door now before it flew off, joined by the other two gunship.
The trio of ships pulled away from the compound, however they pulled towards the deserts and mountains away from the city, knowing of a place where they would be able to disappear for the night as they moved between the peaks, and shadowed valleys, making the heat signature of the vessels diminish as well as making them a bit more difficult to track as the Peacekeepers were now laying low.

| The police within the station where the seven men were dumped were taken a bit aback by seven nude, bound men being tossed from a van that then sped off. true enough to form, an investigation would of course be undertaken and when they were found to be Dubeck personnel, they'd likely be released. After all, they hadn't exactly been caught in a crime as opposed to being brought to the police by vigilantism, which in part was frowned upon by the authorities. Nobody in particular would trace or look for the tanks, and while the Peacekeepers might well enjoy a vast majority of civilian support, there were always those willing to trade information for money, and word of tanks within city streets would emerge sooner or later to the right (or wrong, depending on how one viewed it) ears. The Peacekeepers were, after all, the only ones to field actual tanks. Such heavy armor tended to stand out after all.
Wilhelm Dubeck would end up safely escorted from the compound, able to escape despite the loss of some fifteen of his men from the lightning raid. More importantly, perhaps, the meeting between Randolph Dubeck and the Callahan family had gone off without a hitch, more or less, which now had the two families in an alliance, making the Cantelagno family the odd man out in this particular case. For now, though, the Dubeck personnel would begin to pick up the pieces left behind from the raid, while Wilhelm Dubeck himself settled in a little-known safehouse to try and decipher who had struck at him on his own turf.
Hinot, aboard the Chigliak, took the shuttle a bit lower into the planet's atmosphere as he continued to track the trio of ships that had departed Durollia. He'd managed to lock on to the specific types before he broke off sensor pursuit, allowing the ships to vanish into the mountains unmolested. A VAAT/e transport was rather common now days among criminal groups, but the gunships, identified with some research to be of the Dragon-class produced by the Cronese Mandate, were hardly used by anyone outside the Mandate. In fact, the only people on the entire planet of Antared III known to have such equipment were the Peacekeepers. Hinot had this information handy as he relayed it to Yhemn.
When Yhemn made his presentation to Angelo Cantelagno later that day, he outlined the pros and cons. "Granted, Mr. Cantelagno, the Dubeck and Callahan forces have joined hands. However, the Dubeck family knows they're not untouchable anymore. I don't see any negative fallout from this one. I'll see to it that word gets spread around that the Peacekeepers are backing the Cantelagno family to drive out the Dubecks from Durollia. In the meantime, I'll ask for a few more men and perhaps requisition us some heavy artillery. Today though, was a victory for us and we didn't even have to fire a shot."Added (30 Aug 2012, 4:15 PM) --------------------------------------------- It was a week to the day of the attack on the Dubeck family compound. True to his word, Yhemn had utilized the Cantelagno family contacts to whisper into certain ears and the word spread like wildfire. Whether or not everyone believed the word in the three cities or not was, of course, open to debate, but there were always those who would listen, doubt or even actually believe. The word, of course, was that the Cantelagno family had paid off the Durollia Peacekeepers to strike a blow against the Dubeck family and wrest control of Durollia from them. As the Callahan and Dubeck families had now joined hands, the Peacekeepers might well find themselves at the edge of a vibroblade or staring down the wrong barrel of a blaster if any of them dared to leave their little stronghold and venture into Durollia without enough numbers. As well, the police forces, still tied to the Dubecks, would come calling, making little inquiries here and there and asking questions to see things like registration for any combat-based vehicles the Peacekeepers had or checking to make sure all weapons were legally registered; by and large making a rather big nuisance and simply looking for a reason to throw the lot of them in jail.
While the police were all well and good mucking about in Peacekeeper business, Yhemn was in the business of removing the police protection from the Dubeck family. The police, still under the control of the corrupt commissioner Lucas Hayes, would be a large obstacle in Yhemn removing Wilhelm Dubeck from power. Yhemn was always one to strike at the head of the snake and he was not about to fight his way through dozens and dozens of armed thugs to get there. Fortunately, he'd figured out where his window of opportunity lay.
Lucas Hayes, a fat toad of a man, was a creature of habit. Every Centaxday, he would go to a small but pleasant cafe off of one of Durollia's side streets and meet with an emissary from the Dubeck family. It was a different emissary more often than not each time, but surveillance pictures discerned that each emissary carried some form of marker to prove who they claimed to be. The problem, of course, was getting in to do the deed, more or less. Much to Yhemn's great annoyance, there were no tall buildings around offering a view into the cafe, and police protection in the form of plain-clothed and uniformed officers existed outside the cafe. For Yhemn, this was not an insurmountable issue, simply a challenge to be worked around.
He'd outlined his plan to Hinot, who was the most capable of undertaking this mission with his unassuming face, and Yhemn would be in the background to help, coordinating with Grekkik and Yeekry high above on the Chigliak. Tomorrow they moved. Added (07 Sep 2012, 3:53 PM) --------------------------------------------- (( Bump. )) Added (08 Sep 2012, 6:37 PM) --------------------------------------------- (( I'm bored, so I'm posting here. As it doesn't directly affect you in the storyline, it shouldn't be an issue. ))
"You've laid an interesting plan, Mr. Yhemn."
The firelight from the simulated fireplace was the only light in the room and Yhemn could not see Angelo Cantelagno's face from where the crime lord sat, wreathed in shadow. An untouched drink sat before Yhemn; he'd not accepted it and his helmet still sat atop his head. True, he could alter one of the vision modes, but for moments like this he preferred to utilize his normal vision through the visor.
"It's a workable plan, Mr. Cantelagno. Despite the backup from the Callahan family, the Dubecks are at a weak point; the Durollia Peacekeepers pushed the issue. Fools that they are. Even in a city the size of Durollia, a strike that involves heavily-armed aerial vehicles doesn't go unnoticed. They don't have enough people to pacify a city, so I'm not quite sure why they were so willing to move against the Dubecks."
"I don't claim to understand that organization. I can certainly tell you that nothing of the sort will crop up here under my nose." Cantelagno gave a snort of amusement and shook his head. "Not on my life."
"Then you've exhibited better control of your city, Mr. Cantelagno. That's why we came to you... and that's why Antared III will be under your control." Added (16 Sep 2012, 5:20 PM) --------------------------------------------- Centaxday had come. Hinot was dressed up in a suit of the cut worn by the Dubeck family. He sat within a repulsor van with tinted windows. The others in the van included Yhemn and a half dozen others who had originally been part of Yhemn's crew. They were parked behind a furniture delivery business in one of the side alleys where it seemed likely they'd intersect the emissary's path. The van itself was marked up to look like a delivery vehicle for the store and the owner within had been paid off to keep his people away from the loading dock for a certain amount of time.
"I don't like this idea, Malos. I'm not a field man," Hinot said once again.
"You're the man for the job, Hinot. You can get in and out and do this. We'll be providing a distraction once you're inside so you can get it done." Yhemn looked out one of the rear-view mirror and spotted the Dubeck man rounding the corner. Despite the attack by the Peacekeepers, the Dubeck family had decided to maintain a more public presence to remind the people who truly ran Durollia. Their suits, dark green in color with gold trim, were easy to mark. The man walked past the van with nary a care; the alliance between the Dubeck and Callahan families had made them far more arrogant, and with the police keeping constant investigations into the Peacekeepers, they did not fear a further attack.
As soon as the man was just past the front of the van, Yhemn acted. Sitting in the passenger seat, he opened the door quickly. The KYD-21 blaster was in his hand and raised even as the Dubeck emissary turned. Yhemn's shot burned a clean hole right between his eyes and the body dropped boneless to the ground. Moving quickly, Yeekry and Grekkik moved out of the back to recover the body before pedestrians could truly see what was going on. Once the corpse was in the van, the driver pulled away from the building, leaving those in the back to search the corpse.
"Found it," Grekkik growled as he held up an octagonal chip engraved with a hydra. He handed it to Hinot, who pocketed it.
"Next stop is the cafe. Be ready for this, Hinot." Added (26 Sep 2012, 3:20 PM) --------------------------------------------- Hinot took a deep breath as he rounded the corner and the cafe came into sight. Already, he spotted four repulsor cars that were openly marked police vehicles. True, they were parked within a lot in front of the establishment, but the two men inside each one were still armed. It didn't help that a pair of plain-clothed officers were lounging against the door of the eatery. Squaring his shoulders, Hinot continued onwards.
When he reached the door of the cafe, one of the plain-clothed men stepped forwards to bar his way. "Hey mate, no weapons inside," the man said gruffly. After being frisked and having his blaster confiscated, Hinot entered into the cafe. Within, the staff were the only occupants, other than the corpulent form of Commissioner Hayes, who was busy with enough food to feed a starving city on Tatooine, or so it looked.
"You're late," Hayes said around a mouthful of food. "Sit down and let's talk about these credits your boss owes me. Protection just went up with the Peacekeepers acting up." It was apparent Hayes cared little who heard him; the town was in the pockets of the Dubeck family just as much as it was in his pockets.
"My apologies, Commissioner. I brought word from Mr. Dubeck." Hinot slowly slid his hand into his breast pocket and removed the octagonal chip, setting it on the table before him as he sat across from Hayes. Any time now, Hinot knew the distraction would be coming, and he was not disappointed. From outside, the screech of tires could be heard as Yhemn and his compatriots rounded the corner in the van. As Hayes peered towards the window, a barrage of fire came from the truck, scattering the police at the door and causing them to dive for cover. The fire continued as the truck drove past, with the police cruisers pulling out in hot pursuit.
While Hayes was distracted, Hinot steeled himself and snatched up one of the sharp eating knives that lay near Hayes' hand. "Wilhelm Dubeck sends his regards," Hinot said as he lunged across the table and plunged the blade into Hayes' throat several times. As the fat man fell back, clutching at his throat, Hinot fled for the bathroom, ignoring the shocked cries of the staff. Once inside, he locked the door and made for the window, slipping his small frame out and to the ground to land in an alley. With the police distracted, he was able to make good his escape before anyone within truly knew what had happened. Added (30 Sep 2012, 12:12 PM) --------------------------------------------- It had been two days since the attack on the commissioner. Yhemn and Cantelagno were once more in the crime lord's study, the latter sipping a Corellian brandy while the former stood, looking out the window. "Durollia has been rather busy as I hear it," Cantelagno said after swallowing. "The death of Commissioner Hayes has opened up a new door. His replacement seems to be equally corrupt in some regards, but far less understanding. You did well on pinning the attack on the Dubeck family. I hear they are no longer under police protection. Callahan members have been arrested throughout the city."
Yhemn suppressed a smile. "Understandable. If the police aren't getting their cut, I'm sure they have no reason to see the Dubeck and Callahan families both operating out of Durollia. From information my slicer has lifted, the Callahan family seems to be rethinking their deal with the Dubecks. I would say that Pegg no longer supports Durollia."
"If that's so, then Wilhelm Dubeck is ripe for the picking."
"I can agree. We've made overtures to the new commissioner. He's willing to look the other way if remove the Dubeck family. Grounds being they are a major threat to the peace and security of Durollia. I have plans in the works to strike directly at Dubeck. Everything points to him staying within his compound. Nobody has seen much of his enforcers on the streets either. It's a safe bet to say he's pulled them all in to fortify his home, especially after the Peacekeeper raid."
"So you plan to hit him directly in his home? That's not very subtle."
"No, not subtle at all. It's probably going to be big and loud, but it will be a swift hit and then the problem is solved."
"Do what you have to do, Mr. Yhemn. Just remember we don't want to cause too much of a scene. Antared III is out of the way, but Imperials have been known to drop by."
"Always, Mr. Cantelagno, discretion is our specialty." Added (02 Oct 2012, 9:27 AM) --------------------------------------------- Evening was falling on Durollia, and with the night came a heavy rain. From where his shuttle sat in high orbit, Yhemn could not see the city far below, but his sensors could still read it. In the clear space around him, the Chigliak lay off to his port side, while a pair of green-colored KR-TB transports were on the starboard. He'd not requested much from his Blackfire employers, and this was likely to be more than enough.
While a ground assault had been considered, largely because Cantelagno wanted discretion, Yhemn had ruled it out. The Dubeck compound was likely to be fortified, with plenty of weapons and upwards of sixty men, including any outsiders Wilhelm Dubeck may have called in. Even a direct air assault was out of the question; the Durollia Peacekeepers had popped that particular bubble with their entry tactics, leaving Yhemn with only one surefire way to guarantee that Wilhelm Dubeck would be put out of action. After tonight, it wouldn't truly matter if the man survived somehow or not; his place of power in Durollia was going to be shattered and broken.
Yhemn briefly reflected that the populace might feel some gratitude that the man was gone, but it wouldn't matter much once Angelo Cantelagno stepped onto the scene. Of course, Yhemn's priority wasn't the people of Antared III, and he rarely weighed such concerns. The mission at hand was his primary concentration and he would see it done to the best of his ability. Utilizing a short-wave laser transmission system, he opened a channel to the other ships.
"We're going to keep this simple, gentlemen. It's going to be a gun run with a very tight window of attack. I don't want unnecessary casualties, especially of any civilians, so watch your sectors and follow my flight path in. We're not expecting any real resistance so we go in hot and follow terrain from four kilometers out. Once we hit the city edge, bring it up to four hundred meters, sweep the target and break for space."
A chorus of affirmatives resounded over his comm. "Time to roll, boys. Good luck." Engaging his throttle on the Winter Dream, Yhemn rolled the craft towards the surface and plunged downwards. Added (11 Oct 2012, 9:06 AM) --------------------------------------------- The clouds shot past Yhemn's cockpit as he leveled out, his primary concentration upon flight and maneuver. This was to be an extremely fast strike, one after another, so there was no room for error and only time for one pass apiece. Four kilometers passed quickly at the speed at which Yhemn was traveling. His flight map marked the target clearly and he lightly raised the nose of his shuttle. There, just ahead. Preparing himself, Yhemn tightened his hands on the triggers and waited for just the right moment. Behid him, the Chigliak flew its awkward bulk at full speed, followed by the pair of KR-TB transports, all waiting their turn to make the weapons run.

Phillip 'Klep' Timmons had been in the employ of Wilhelm Dubeck for over ten years. Having started off as a low-level street enforcer, Klep had risen through the ranks quickly due a swift mind and a willingness to do what had to be done, no matter the cost. Now though, pushing forty and a member of Dubeck's inner circle, the man felt it was time, perhaps, to take his acquired wealth and depart for greener pastures. It was the decision by Dubeck to pull all family assets and personnel back into the expansive Dubeck compound that truly had Klep worried. Granted, they'd lost their police protection, they'd been hit embarassingly by the Durollia Peacekeepers and on top of that, their alliance with the Callahan family had fallen through.
Despite it all, Klep had argued that the Dubeck family should maintain a very public presence to prevent anyone from thinking them weak and thereby, inviting attacks upon themselves. It was a debate that was still hotly ongoing, only now conducted in Wilhelm Dubeck's study along with his sons and the rest of the leadership within his organization. Klep had excused himself to utilize the refresher, which was why he was on the ground floor. It was a rather rediculous matter to walk all that way simply to do what nature made the body do, but it was his preferred refresher of the house. Today, it would save his life.
The first indicator that Klep knew any attack was coming was when the roar of cannons shattered the relative peace of the refresher and the walls themselves seemed to rock. Throwing himself forward with the self-preservation of a hundred lightfights, Klep hugged the floor while the roar and blasts seemed to go on and on for what felt like hours but was only mere seconds. When it was over, he opened his eyes, surprised to find the room still standing. Fixing his clothing, he opened the door and headed out into the hallway, only to find it half-filled with debris. Where the stairs once stood to lead upwards sat even more debris. It was as if someone had surgically removed the upper stories of the house. Wilhelm's study was simply... gone.
With a numb feeling, Klep joined the rest of the surviving shell-shocked guards and servants in trying to figure out what they would do now.

Watching the Doomtreader transports make their way into hyperspace, Yhemn sighed in satisfaction and opened a channel to Hinot. "Successful run tonight. Congratulations to your gunner. I have a meeting with Angelo Cantelagno in a few hours. Let the men get some rest and relax tonight. I have the feeling more work will come tomorrow."Added (12 Oct 2012, 9:45 AM) --------------------------------------------- "You did a far better job than expected, Mr. Yhemn."
The next day had come, and Yhemn stood in Angelo Cantelagno's office; the meeting of the night before had been curiously canceled. "I simply executed the job to the best of my ability, Mr. Cantelagno," Yhemn offered modestly. It had been rather nicely done though, but Yhemn was not one to allow praise to swell his head.
"The job was so well done, in fact, that the Callahan family has unanimously ceded Antared III to myself. They've agreed to depart for elsewhere in the Outer Rim as quickly as possible. I'm not inclined to waste resources killing them off. As such, Mr. Yhemn... you've kept your end of the bargain. Antared III is greatly in your debt for freeing it from the rule of, shall we say, conflicting empires."
"It was no issue, Mr. Cantelagno. I am sure that Blackfire will be grateful, as I am, about our continued friendship."
