| "I'm not afraid of Jedi," Brennan said over his shoulder as he left the briefing room. The analyst had warned him that Baird might not be alone on Toprawa—his fellow escaped prisoner, Frank "Havoc" Bruder, and accomplice Castor Vax—Jedi, both of them—might still be with the Commander. They'd all escaped from the Imperial corvette Dasvidaniya together, and could still be together. Jedi are dangerous, the analyst had warned Brennan.
As a child, Brennan always wanted to be a Jedi. Until he learned of their treachery, that is. But although he did appreciate how dangerous a Jedi could be, he truly wasn't afraid of them. They had super-human powers, sure, but they were human nonetheless, and just as susceptible to human error as anyone else.
Besides, the Jedi weren't Brennan's target. Baird was. The Dasvidaniya was hit not far from the planet Toprawa, and, suspecting that the escaped prisoners might still be in the Kalamith Sector, Imperial Intelligence had monitored all transmissions from the Toprawa Relay Station—the communications center through which almost all of the system's transmissions were sent. It was a pretty slim lead; trillions of transmissions were sent through the Relay Station, and Intelligence couldn't possibly read all of them. It would take a plainly obvious subject line to get their attention—such as "To Tremaine."
The message was encrypted. Baird wasn't a complete fool. But the Commander's standard encryption training was no match for the Analysis Bureau of Imperial Intelligence. They couldn't decrypt the entire message, but enough of it to know it was signed "Baird" and referred to a medical problem. "That's our man," Brennan said when he was briefed on the news, "The only decent medcenter in the Kalamith Sector is on Toprawa—that's where he is."
"And his accomplices, possibly," the analyst said, "Jedi are dangerous you know, Agent Brennan."
"I'm not afraid of Jedi."

Finding Baird had been surprisingly easy. Yes, he had changed his appearance (again) but the security cameras on the Dasvidaniya, which was also on Toprawa for repairs, had plenty of stills of Baird's new face. Brennan knew that Baird had no ship, and no "Roughnecks"—his team of mercenaries had been left behind when he'd been captured, and later escaped. Brennan checked the records at the local medcenters and doctor's offices; no sign of Baird. So where do you go when you need to self-medicate and find a ride out of the Kalamith Sector? A bar.
Brennan went bar-to-bar in Salik City, asking questions discreetly until he found someone in a bar called The Corellian who remembered seeing Baird there a couple times. Brennan started a tab and made himself comfortable (and inconspicuous in his vest worn over a spacer's jumpsuit that concealed beneath it a blaster-proof vest). Soon enough, he saw Baird walk in the door. But who else, if anyone, was with him? Brennan would wait and see, drinking from a glass of ale as he watched the Commander closely.

| I did not notice this post, Nor have I officially stated where Baird's location is at the moment, as I am planning on Rping some more, but I've got stuff to finish up in real life. So, if you really wish to persue this, I ask that you wait until I make a public apperance on baird, which I promise you it will be before next weekend.))

| (( No problem, I can wait. I did take some liberties here since Baird sent a message without his location having been established. Having just busted out of captivity near Toprawa and Toprawa having the only decent communications center in the area, I thought it was a good guess Baird would be there. But if you'd rather not, that's fine. It'd be useful to know OOC where his message was sent from, however. But again, no hurry. ))
