A Retraction
LORRD CITY- Last weeks publication by former junior editorial writer Paul Robb stating that Stark Defense Conglomerate and the Gree Enclave had signed a 'mutual defense pact and exclusivity agreement' was incorrect. Alyn Stark came forth shortly after the publication to the editors of the Kanz Sector News to say that, "For the record, Stark Defense Conglomerate does not have have the authority to make and sort of mutual pacts and exclusivity agreements. The Stark Defense Conglomerate Security Corps does offer private security contracting, but at present their numbers are not high enough to offer such services. This isn't to say we don't sell products to the Gree Enclave; but the terms of the deal were grossly misstated."
At this time, The Kanz Sector News offers an apology to Mr. Stark and retracts the former article.
Sector-wide Crackdown on Vianism Spreads to Lorrd
LORRD CITY- Lorrd has become the latest theater of a Sector-wide crackdown on the Vianist religion as Lord Bowe of the Frezen Province has ordered the persecution of the large Vianist minority there. Though the crackdown on Lorrdian Vianists has so far lacked the genocidal character of the anti-Vianist campaign on the nearby planet Sipsk, Lord Bowe's security forces have nonetheless evicted at rifle-point Vianist demonstrators from public places and, in some cases, from the once-inviolable privacy of their own homes.
In a dramatic gesture, the Lord's forces have also set fire to all Vianist buildings of worship in the Frezen Province. As many as 10 are believed dead in the fires, lighted without regard for who might be inside the buildings at the time. As many or more people are reported to have been shot resisting eviction in the city of Frezen, and three times as many people are believed to be languishing in the dungeon of Lord Bowe's heavily-fortified castle.
While there has been some talk of resisting Lord Bowe's anti-Vianist decree, it is well-known that the crackdown on Vianists enjoys the support of Moff Shirnoq, rumored to be directing the apparent genocide of Vianists on Sipsk'ud, where the followers of that assailed religion have been burned to death by the tens of thousands. Resistance to Lord Bowe's decree, if any, has been tempered thus far by the widely-held feeling that 'it could be worse.'
Anti-Vianist Crackdown in Frezen Leads to Refugee Crisis
FREZEN PROVINCE- Lord Bowe's persecution of the Vianist minority of his Frezen Province on Lorrd has led to a refugee crisis as hundreds, perhaps thousands of Vianists evicted from their homes in the city of Frezen are reported to be fleeing to the neighboring Kinyov Province. The flight of Vianists from the city of Frezen defies one of the Lord's decrees requiring exit visas to leave the Frezen Province, and Lord Bowe is reported to have dispatched dragoons to make camp on the Kinyov border with orders to prevent Vianists attempting to flee. The action, according to Bowe, was ordered in response to concerns voiced in Parliament about the internal displacement of Vianists.
But the exodus continues as Lord Bowe has ordered the demolition of a predominantly Vianist district in the city of Frezen, and many continue to cross the over 5,000-kilometer-long border with the Kinyov Province. The demolition of this neighborhood, according to Bowe, will clear room in the city for a 'world class medcenter, the finest on Lorrd.' This is little consolation, however, to the hundreds, perhaps thousands of homeless Vianists, nor the 70 or more of them now residing in the dungeon of the Lord's castle.
For the rest of Frezen, however, life continues strangely as normal. Frezen's world-famous zoo remains open. Lord Bowe having decreed that local businesses will be compensated for absent Vianist workers in the amount of their salary, and that taxes will be reduced in proportion to any reductions in population, there has been little outcry in Frezen itself to the anti-Vianist campaign, which is widely-understood to enjoy the support of the Kanz sector's Moff Shirnoq. This reporter, however, will continue to follow the story as it develops.
Sipsk'ud Genocide in Response to Anti-Vianist Movement
KANZ CITY- Word has come in from the Sipsk Sector that in response to the Anti-Vianist movement pushed for by Moff Shirnoq that over four million Sipsk'ud Vianists have been put to death on the orders of Chief Coach of the Allied Sipsk'ud Flocks Bom'bay Gor-Don. Wild reports have come out that massive roasts of Sipsk'ud have occurred, and that some of the deceased and cooked Sipsk'ud have even been sold to other worlds as a delicacy. Moff Shirnoq has ordered no stop to the mass purge of Vianists on the Sipsk'ud home world at this time, though an Imperial envoy has been dispatched with the purpose of 'regulating the issue of the Sipsk'ud genocide.' Some sources who wish to remain anonymous suspect that Moff Shirnoq is turning a blind eye to the death of so many Sipsk'ud because of his belief in Human High Culture and lack of compassion for distinctly alien races. When asked if such was true, Moff Shirnoq stated, "I am not blind to the pleas of the Sipsk'ud. Indeed, had there been any pleas I would have intervened. In my contacts with the Chief Coach I requested he ease back on the Vianists. That being said, Human High Culture places Humanity first, not Sipsk'ud. If it takes burning them alive to make them give up Vianism... then so be it."
Influx of Refugees Causes Issues in Kinyov Province
QATAMER- With the anti-Vianist crackdown in extremes within the Frezen Province, the Kinyov Province Defense Forces have been forced to initiate a major crackdown along the five-thousand kilometer border between the provinces. The Kinyov Province correspondent Michael Wainwright was able to speak to some of the local defense force officers at one of the newly-erected traffic control points on the major highways that connect the provinces. "We've been turning back a lot of refugees," Trooper Gorman Price of the 1st Defense Company stated. "With Lord Bowe's dragoon forces just over their side of the border, these folks don't have a lot of places to turn to. We've kept up constant airspeeder patrols and ground patrols, but it's inevitable that a few of these refugees might get past the checkpoints." Additional manpower has come down in the form of Castle Stark guardsmen who were sent by Lord Stark to assist the defense forces in turning back the unwanted Vianists.
The Kinyov Province itself has not been exempt from its small upsets in regards to the recent anti-Vianist movement. While some Vianists, largely those outspoken and unwilling to change, have been deported to Lorrd II, larger numbers who are willing to 'forgo the Vianist beliefs and reject the tenets of Vianism' have been allowed to stay on what some are calling a 'trial basis.' While it is not yet known how these people will be observed, Lord Stark has given assurances that "Vianism will no longer be tolerated and Vianists will be asked to depart Lorrd." While some requests for assistance have gone out to the Ruling Houses, the word that has come back is that all three are in full belief in Moff Shirnoq's decree against Vianism and that it will not be tolerated.
Vianists Flee Argazda as Hundreds Disappear
ARGAZDA CITY- Argazdan Vianists have fled their homeworld in 'droves' as Prime Minister S'nar ordered a covert crackdown on Vianists on Argazda. Over three-hundred disappearances overnight mark the beginning of an anti-Vianist purge on Argazda. It has been noted that among those who are now missing were Vice Minister L'eeroy Jen'kins and several other predominant members of the Argazdan cabinet who were outspoken on Prime Minister S'nar's views on slavery. "It has come as a shock to us all," Prime Minister S'nar said in a brief press conference, "That we had so many Vianists believers within our very core body of government. Thankfully they have all been removed, and Argazda is as strong as ever."
Despite S'nar's words, a number of sources have expressed concern that the Vianist removal was only a cover for the Prime Minister to remove opposition to his actions within the government, though this cannot be confirmed or denied.
