Experiment Request

After hunting for a few Jedi fugitives, I would like to have Animus start an experiment. It has something to do with genetic engineering. Animus would be expected to engineer a "superwarrior." One that is far more advanced than the ordinary stormtroopers. A gene that allows a sentient being to be able to have force sensitivity will be installed, but this warrior wouldn't necessarily be using Force powers. It just has the ability to make him a deadlier fighter. The warrior would be undergoing several intensive and painful testing to increase cybernetic enhancements. This person would be a human, but would get the strength of a Wookiee, intelligent as a Bothan, and knowledge of warfare as a Mandalorian. I think it would be a good thing for the roleplaying, at least for a short span of time. I wasn't going to keep the superwarrior around for long. This guy would have to do two missions, maybe three at most, before the enemy figures out how to defeat him and put a stop to this project or something like that. I just thought it would give a good twist to the storyline here. The top secret scientific laboratory would probably be on a heavy-fortified Imperial world, but somewhere where the local population wouldn't be aware of a such thing. I was thinking along the lines of an abandoned underground laboratory on Naboo, one where a rogue doctor named Nuvo Vindi created Blue Shadow Virus for the Confederacy during the Clone Wars.

An interesting request; and I like the idea, in theory. I have a few questions to run through; if you don't mind answering them. I'm curious as to where this secret laboratory will be located; along with its specifications, such as defenses, crew, troops, and how it receives its funding. The funding part I'm not so concerned about, I'm assuming that this experiment is Imperially-funded? If so then that's no problem, but if Animus is experimenting in secret, outside the Empire's knowledge, he'd need a source of funding. Especially since genetic augmentation doesn't come cheap. Also, while I've always been wary of seemingly "overpowered" characters in RP, if he/she is played responsibly and, as you say, only lasts for a short while then I'd be okay with this request. It's an interesting idea, that's without question.

Of course this experiment would be funded by the Empire. The SuperSoldier is designed to fight for the Empire, not against. Like I said, I'm hoping that this SuperSoldier would last for about two or three attacks. Perhaps a Jedi or a group of ragtag rebels would have figure out a way to defeat him, and moved to eliminate him. In the process, destroying the laboratory and pissed Animus off. That would effectively end the experiment lol. As of where the secret laboratory is located, like I said, I was hoping to use what would be an abandoned laboratory by now. It's the very same laboratory that the rogue scientist used to spread Blue Shadow Virus on Naboo. That way, it's an Imperial world, but also a world that would probably allow the rebels to roam free. Because it's such a top secret, there probably won't be much of a defense because to have a heavy defense would attract unwanted attention. I'd say maybe a squad of stormtroopers assigned to defend the laboratory. Besides, whatever that comes their way, Animus would have believed he could handle them himself. To man up the defenses little bit, there'd probably be an auto-laser cannon that routinely scan the area and would shoot if it determine a threat was coming. Also, there would be a team of scientists working with Animus on this. The only way anyone can get into the laboratory is through an eye scan, and it would tell who is permitted and who is not. Anything else you need to know?

I'm going to resist you on the Naboo location, I'm afraid, for two reasons. The underground (or "underswamp") laboratory on Naboo made sense for a Confederate scientist who needed the secrecy because he was conducting his experiments on a Republic world. Since we're dealing with an Imperial experiment on an Imperial world, though, this level of secrecy, I think, is not necessary especially if it has automated defenses and stormtroopers defending it. It might as well be in the basement of the Imperial embassy, really, rather than in a secluded, vulnerable location. Also, the other reason I'm apprehensive about the Naboo location is I can't possibly imagine that Naboo would let themselves be fooled by this twice. I would assume they would learn from the first time a mad scientist in a secluded laboratory in the swamp brought their entire planet within mere moments of a complete gaiacide, and as a result Naboo would be the last place you would want to set up a secret underground laboratory. Also, speaking as one who plays half the role of defending Naboo, as Artemis Vanden (Kylantha is the other half of the duo), I can say with some reasonable confidence that Naboo won't be as hospitable to your rebels as I think you're assuming.

There are, of course, many, many other planets you can choose.

This request is now 6 days old.

I will reserve my posting until Jace's concerns are addressed. The ball is, as they say, in Animus's court.

Vote: PENDING

Hmm...if you say experimenting inside a basement of an Imperial embassy is ideal...I'd think experimenting in order to create a supersoldier would be make more sense inside an Imperial base, perhaps somewhere on one of the planets in Corellia system?

Pending Jace's response, I'm fine with Corellia, so I vote to APPROVE.
