| Captain (later Moff) Panaka gets a bad rap. If you look at the Talk page about him on Wookieepedia, there's a serious (and weird) amount of hate there. "Traitor," "Hypocrite," etc. Because Wookieepedia says he's a Moff but he's never seen as a Moff in any source, I'd like to bring him into the RP if that's okay with all the Naboo peeps. His fate is also open ended, so I think he's a good pick as far as characters from Star Wars go. There's a problem... Star Wars Galaxies shows him as a Colonel in 0 ABY. But this is silly. Less than 4 years later (according to Star Wars Complete Locations and The Essential Atlas) he's a Moff, which can't be possible. It's like 3 or 4 promotions a year. Basically, it looks to me like these sources contradict each other. But one of them is a video game and two of them are reference books. Personally, I want to go with what the reference books say. Or I'm wrong and there is no contradiction, and Palpatine just wants to shore up support after Yavin and promotes Panaka in a hurry. I guess that makes sense too.
I'll go with what you guys think about it. The timeline advances here I think, so if it's denied now maybe I can still do it once we get to the ABY's? Anyway, I'll wait and see what you think. If it is approved though I don't plan to rock the boat on Naboo or anything, just hopefully have more goings on there.

| I'm inclined against this, I'm afraid. I understand exactly where you're coming from on all of this, and I agree except for your assertion that the sources contradict. It would be nice if that were so, because then, indeed, we could discard Galaxes, assert the supremacy of The Essential Atlas and Star Wars Complete Locations and make Panaka the Moff of the Chommell Sector whenever we want (i.e. now, in 10 BBY). But as you noted, it's as likely that Palpatine would hurriedly promote Panaka and other supporters of his after the destruction of Alderaan and Battle of Yavin as it is unlikely that Panaka would be promoted up the chain of command from Colonel to Moff in so few years. It's possible, in other words, and as long as it's possible I'm not inclined to see a contradiction where none exists.
Personally, I'd like to see Panaka in the RP, though. The timeline does indeed advance over time (we're just about due to advance to 9 BBY, I think), and I'd have no problem with a Moff Panaka once we've passed 0 ABY. I'm going to wait though, and see what other managers think. But if I were voting at this moment, I'd have to vote to DENY.

| I've always been rather apprehensive when it comes to the playing of canon characters on here, with Boba Fett being the only exception (he's rarely used atm and Danny does play him quite well. Danny, wherever you are, you are needed!) So my vote's going to stand with Jace here, though, like he said, I'd be willing to revisit this at a later date.

| This is pretty much a situation of right character, wrong point in the timeline. I have no problem with minor canon characters, and Panaka is indeed a minor at this point. Hold onto this one though, I would like to say, personally, that you have the stake on him when the time comes. Unfortunately...
