| I would like to request that the Anaxsi Institute of Starship Design have the patents on "A vessel to carry IPV-1s through hyperspace". Having gained this patent they would begin to produce designs for that express purpose with the intention of producing vessels to sell to Planetary, Sector and Imperial Fleets. This project would be in cooperation with Sienar Fleet Systems, who would see it as an opportunity to increase sales of their rather paltry IPV-1.
Thus the Guard-class would be designed as a competent vessel in its own right, highly useful for interdiction and customs duties due to its sturdy design and reasonable weapons loadout. The Guard-class would be able to dock with and carry through hyperspace up to 4 vessels of up to 150m which would be its primary purpose, to enter a hostile system or area, deploy patrol ships then either assault targets with them or return to dock. Unlike the IPV-1s it is designed to carry, the Guard-class is not particularly fast, nor is it fitted well for protracted combat (it is easily outmatched by larger vessels such as the Victory or Imperial Classes) what it does provide though is an affordable capital vessel for small worlds, which gives their non-hyperspace capable ships vastly greater mobility and allows them to have a greater projection capacity without paying the price of buying multiple hyperspace capable vessels. The rear third of the ship is exclusively devoted to the engines, allowing the vessel to move reasonably even carrying 4 IPV-1s (or 4 other vessels of similar size).
The vessel would have potential to be used to land a ground force, with bunk space aboard for up to 400 passengers, and suitable space in the cargo holds for 40 medium armored vehicles.
A non-military version would be available (with no turbolasers, warhead launcher or Ion cannon and only 4 double laser cannons) for hauling smaller cargo vessels. It would also find use as a salvage and rescue vessel as its umbilical allows it to latch on to smaller vessels with its clamps then extend a boarding tube. Furthermore it can extend a forcefield around the vessels it carries to protect them from debris etc.
Both vessels also have a cargo capacity in their own right of 10,000 Tons. A notable feature is a detachable bridge and crew section, which has its own hyperdrive and capacity to temporarily house the full crew compliment (in airliner style seating in the military version, regular rooms in the civilian) as well as a small sublight engine. A weakness of the vessel is that the connection between the bridge and the rest of the vessel is notoriously vulnerable when unshielded, thus if the bridge were disconnected, command would have to be taken from the Engine room, which is not awfully efficient. The civilian version features the capability to open up a lot of the interior space formerly used for weapons generators etc to extend its cargo capacity to 25,000 Tons or to open up space for up to 500 passengers in cabins.
In conclusion, the vessel designed is set to be a ubiquitous vessel, useful in both the civilian and military sectors for a variety of uses.

| This is a big'n, I'll get to it later tonight when I'm fully awake.

| The weapons loadout is far more than I'm comfortable with for a specialty carrier. I'd prefer to see the weapons on the military version halved, and the ion cannon omitted altogether. Otherwise I really like this design and I'm quite in favor of it.

| I need to keep the numbers of turbolasers even for the Diagram. Is 6 Twin Turbolasers, 8 Twin Laser Cannons okay for the cut numbers? Also no ion cannon?

| As for the ion cannon, I said "halve everything" but a single ion cannon can't be halved and I erred conservatively here. I suppose I'm okay with 1 of them.
