Proposal Regarding Treaty Officers

| Some time ago, the Chief of State proposed "treaty officers to be placed on every New Republic ship... to make sure there are no breaches of the treaty from our side." This was, of course, a response to the Bimmiel incident, which imperiled the peace with the Imperial Remnant but, fortunately, was diffused by our Chief of State. The fact remains, however, an irresponsible fleet officer such as Admiral Nadia, or even a more capable officer who is simply unfamiliar with the minutiae of the Bastion Accords should not be put in a position to imperil the peace that has been so hard won and, I might add, so beneficial for the New Republic's economy and its people. President Gavrisom is quite right in calling for treaty officers. I propose, however, that this role be filled by M-3PO military protocol droids. These droids are programmed with the rules and regulations of over six million military and paramilitary organizations, and are quite adequate to advise a fleet officer on his limits under the Bastion Accords. This is an efficient, inexpensive, and proven means to an important end, and I vote in favor. Whether they will be stationed on all New Republic warships, or simply the flagships of each fleet, I will leave to President Gavrisom and the Admiralty to decide. This measure will provide funds sufficient for whichever is decided.

| I believe this is something that the New Republic Defense Forces would need in time of peace. If there are M-3PO military protocol droids being stationed throughout the fleet, then a chance of putting the Bastion Accords in jeopardy would be greatly diminished. I rarely agree with Senator Cambrist and his proposals in the past, but this is something that would be effective and useful. Like Senator Cambrist said, whether the droids would be assigned to every single New Republic warships or just a flagship of each fleet remains both President's and Admiralty's decision. However, I would like to suggest that they simply be assigned to a flagship of each fleet. With that said and done, I vote in favor of Senator Cambrist's proposal.

| The New Republic Fleet from Admiral to Ensign are a bunch of undisciplined, unprofessional, arrogant cocks. I vote in favor of this measure if it means these droids will stop the Fleet from doing something stupid or, rather, something more stupid than usual. Here I refer to the conduct of Admiral Nadia, of course, but it also describes the past conduct of General Antilles, General Kre'fey, or General Bel Iblis, to name only a few of the disgraces who've worn the uniform of the Republic.
