Jace Varitek had a bad feeling about this. It wasn't merely the anxiety of confronting what was (if his friend and fellow Jedi Knight Havoc was to be believed) a "Sith training temple," but something more; something worse, if such was possible. For Varitek, in situations like these, the Force functioned very much as a sort of intuition. It was not clairvoyance, or visions of the future, as some believed, but rather it was a vague sense of dread; a foreboding that hung over this planet and obscured what perils lay below, much like the dense, grey fog that filled the viewport of his X-wing as he approached Dagobah.

Of course, the Jedi Knight had good reason to be anxious: a Sith temple on a planet so remote and inhospitable as this? It seemed so improbable, but still, he had seen the Force defy probability time and again. There was also the secondary concern in the back of his mind, as he gazed upon the planet below, that he had chosen to respond to Havoc's transmission without the consent or the knowledge of the Council on Yavin. Varitek was generally a man of the law; the laws of society and his own personal morality, to which he was sworn to uphold, and the laws of nature with which he did not interfere, although his training in the Force did allow him the power to do so.

In any case, to act without the consent of his superiors was unlike Varitek, but he had felt compelled to do so. Havoc (who was indeed his closest friend on Yavin) had been quietly absent from the Academy in recent days, without explanation. Jace had also felt his own connection to Havoc - his sense of the man's very identity - had seemed to fade not only in terms of distance, but the very substance of it. He had not the understanding or the eloquence to explain it, even to himself, but it seemed to Varitek as if his friend had ceased to be, or else had become something altogether different, and something, perhaps, frightening.

Could it be that Havoc was mistaken about this Sith temple? Or worse, that he was lying? But to what end? He shook his head, reprimanding himself for losing his concentration in the moment. Varitek was also a man of facts, not of feelings (which was uncommon and, indeed, ironic for a Jedi Knight). He believed that a Jedi must be modest and dispassionate, and not allow the desires, the pains or the whims of the self obstruct the extraordinary responsibility that must inevitably come with extraordinary power. No, he would not pass judgment upon his friend based simply on his own intuition. Havoc deserved the benefit of the doubt, the presumption of innocence.

The R2 droid mounted in his X-wing beeped insistently at him, and he glanced at the readout in his cockpit for the translation. They had traced Havoc's burst signal, and it was indeed coming from the planet below. Varitek nodded gravely, and grasped the controls as he prepared to guide the starfighter through the dense, tumultuous atmosphere to whatever awaited him beneath. But then, an interruption; much to his surprise, the comm in his helmet crackled to life.

"... [[static]... reinforcement, by order... [static]... repeat, this is the NRSS Belafonte."

"Steady," said the stern, but fatherly voice of Milo Prosper from beneath a pair of electrobinoculars as he stood aboard the confined bridge of the Belafonte, listing gracefully in low orbit over Dagobah. He squinted through the lense, hoping to get a visual on this supposed Imperial base through the dense, greenish cloud cover, illuminated from beneath by the occasional, brilliant flash of lightning. "Well," he sighed, "Sure is a good place to hide." The Captain lowered the binoculars, revealing him to be a weathered, but kindly man with hair that had once been black, but long since greyed.

Prosper furrowed his brow and spared one last, pensive glance out the viewport, before walking toward his own seat on the bridge, shaking his head as he did so. He handed the binoculars absently to his Lieutenant, then retrieved a handheld comm from an overhead panel, brushed its cord out of his way, and keyed the Belafonte's intercom. "Attention, ladies and gentlemen," he said in a tone that was at once formal, but reassuring in its candor, "This is the Captain. Sensor's got a bead on that transmission, but damned if we can see the place from up here; looks like we're going in low, so gunners to your stations, pilots to your ships, and everyone strap in. Weather's not going to be pleasant, but oh well, this isn't a pleasure cruise. That is all."

He clicked off the comm, but continued to hold it absently in his hand with his other on his hip, as he thought to himself. "Word from that Jedi fighter yet?" he asked his communications officer, referring to the lone X-wing which appeared from hyperspace only moments after the Belafonte. Surely this "Havoc" person had warned the Jedi as well as the Republic; could this starfighter be reinforcement as well? The more the merrier, Prosper thought to himself, only half joking. The Captain hadn't any experience with Jedi, but he'd heard stories enough to trust them. As long as they stay out of our way.

"No, Sir," the comms officer reported, "We think the atmosphere might be interfering with our signal, but we've raised the fighter on channel... 12-889, Sir."

"Right," Prosper adjusted the handset momentarily, then keyed it on once again, "T-65, T-65, this is NRSS Belafonte, responding to a Jedi distress call and a reported Imperial Remnant operation. My crew and my fighter compliment are ready to move; suggest you identify yourself so that we can work this together, otherwise request you stay clear and let us handle this one, over."

(this post was originally made by Havoc)

"The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout." Sung the dis-illusional Jedi as he sat all alone in the cold confinds of the Dark Side Adapt temple. It was here that Havoc sat on the floor and begun to sang. The song sporuted when Havoc felt the sudden appearance of a force-user. "A Jedi..." He muttered in the darkness. The video voices in the background were all that could be heard, and Havoc preferred to keep it as such. "Down came the Sith and slashed the Jedi's mouth!" Shouted the man as he made a fist and suddenly brought it down to the ground, crushing an innocent spider beneath his grasp. It was time to play, and Havoc was all for games. Standing up, he stood straight in the darkness and begun to look around paranoid. It was how he had become the past several of days, and no doubt the darkness feeding into Havoc made him insecure about himself, which only fueled his anger... and his strength. He paused all thoughts for a brief second and heard GP's voice in the video-feed. Once the droid was cutdown, Havoc let out a grewsome laugh throughout the hauls of the former Dark Side Adapt temple. He took to heart that he only had a few moments before his friend would appear... "And I haven't even made snacks... how rude." Muttered the Jedi turned dark.

Emerging outside, the fog gracefully covered the Jedi's appearance. Taking a few advancing steps towards the temple, he stopped and turned around. There... all the dead adapts were all hanging next to GP. Their bodies obviously rotten from the outside air and bugs feeding into them... they were perfect. Extending his hand, Havoc fed into the force and used it to release all but one restraint... GP's. One by one, Havoc filled them into the temple and using his deffinition of soft landing, had their bodies crash land onto the floor. He took a glimps at GP one last time. Lowering his head, he mutted. "There is no more place in my mind for sanity..." Lifting his head up, he proudly marched into the temple, where doors would close up behind him. Looking at the inside of the temple, he knew he had to hurry. Slowly, he took each body and smashed them into the wall. Sure their bones could be heard cracking, but they smacked hard into it to leave a nice hole for them to rest in. Some of them, however... he hung with by the neck with their own cloths. Once he was done... he hardly broke a sweat. Now it was time for the final phase... to lure the suckers into the hornet's nest.

Proceeding back to the other room, he had activated GP's communications link and opened channels again. This time, he figured something else was in store other then this prediction of a Jedi visiting him, so he set the power to only transmit within system. "Show time..." Chuckled the Sith and opened frequency. "This is Jedi Knight Havoc to all... [bzzzzzzzzzzzzz], I have escaped capture from.. [bzzzzzzzzzzzzz], requesting emergancy med-a-vac... [bzzzzzzzzzzzzz], have several wounded..." And that was it. Now it was the time to act accordingly to his transmission. Bending on the ground, Havoc scrapped up some dirt and rubbed it on his face. Reaching into his equipment pouch on his belt, he pulled out a vibro-knife and glanced at his image from the blade. "Time to sink your teeth into some sweet, sweet... flesh." He said, with obvious hints of de-rangement in his voice. With several sweeps, Havoc had made precise cuts all over his body to appear injured. Then he took his position behind a pillar and leaned against it. The stone cold feeling was injected into his blood, which fueled his anger and impatiences. From first glance, it would seem that Havoc had a mental disability... but in truth... the Darkside was infusing his mind with visions of glory and power... traits that didn't mean a thing to Havoc... or did they?

"Jeeeeeeedi... come out and play... Muahahahahahahahahaha!"

Varitek raised a gloved hand to his forehead as Prosper's insistent voice filled the cockpit of his X-wing, and at once he felt as though the entire weight of the Belafonte itself was upon his shoulders; more dread upon dread. What was the New Republic doing here, and what Remnant operation? Clearly, Havoc must have warned them as well, but even at best, his friend must have told a mistruth (either to the Jedi or the Republic). And at worst? Jace felt a sudden anxiety creeping from the back of his mind, as his suspicions of Havoc were rekindled.

The feeling only worsened when his friend's voice followed Prosper's on his intercom. "This is Jedi Knight Havoc to all..." he said, faintly audible over the static, "... escaped capture from... requesting emergency med-evac... several wounded..." As he listened, Jace's gaze became distant, seeming to look not at the planet in his viewport, but beyond it, to something beyond sight itself. He sensed at once that these words were not, in fact, spoken by Havoc, or by any person. Rather, it was a thing, and not even a thing so much as a concept; derangement, insanity, pain. It was there, on the planet below, waiting.

Were there, indeed, innocent people wounded and in need of medical assistance? Varitek sought the answer through the Force, but instead felt only a sudden chill, deeper even than the cold emptiness of space that surrounded his starfighter. There are no innocent in that place, he thought, and felt as though he knew it to be true. No innocence.

No, he reminded himself again, it was not his place to pass judgment upon his friend; not without the facts. There could well be a harmless explanation, but one thing was certain: until he knew what the facts truly were, this Republic cruiser and her crew could not be allowed to fall into the darkness he sensed below, lurking somewhere within the swirling fogs of Dagobah. He had to stop them, at least long enough for him to find Havoc by himself.

Varitek closed his eyes for a moment, beathing in deliberate measure as he used a well-honed Jedi technique to clear and calm his mind of all peripheral speculations and distractions, and to return to the present once again. He reached for the control panel and switched it to the Belafonte's frequency. "NRSS Belafonte," he said, "This is Jedi Knight Jace Varitek, likewise responding to a distress call of the sort you no doubt just heard on your comms. I ask for your understanding, Captain, and for thirty minutes alone on the surface, before you move in. I don't think I can explain why, not yet, but I can't stress enough the importance..." he trailed off, shook his head confusedly, and repeated, "I ask for thirty minutes."

Prosper's brow was raised in an amalgam of surprise and anticipation, as he listened first to one Jedi's garbled warning, and then another's pensive explanation. His brow furrowed most decidedly, however, when the second Jedi (Varitek, was it?) seemed to issue instruction, if not an ultimatum to a Captain of the New Republic defense fleet, contrary to the orders of high command. Milo Prosper was not a man of hubris, nor was he quick to anger, but on this occasion he felt the need to set matters in firm perspective.

"Look, friend," he said into his comm handset, in an exasperated tone of voice, "My orders are orders and, with respect, I'm not going to countermand them based on what Jace Varitek personally thinks is necessary, or important. This vessel is instructed to respond to the distress call of your colleague, this 'Havoc' fellow, and if need be, to blow an Imperial base damnway to hell. I'm moving in, especially if there are innocents down there who need a med-evac, over."

He released the speak switch on his handset, but with some apparent hesitation as he waited for the Jedi's response; despite himself, something about this didn't seem right, and Prosper had seen enough combat to have some intuition on such things. The Captain glanced at his diagnostics officer, "Sublight?" he asked after a moment's contemplation.

"Primed and ready to go, Sir, and we have a flight path all set. Are we go?"

"Not yet."

"Captain," Jace said, with genuine urgency apparent in his voice. In truth, even he could sympathize with Prosper's cynicism; he would have to level with this man insofar as he possibly could. He paused, reluctantly, feeling as though he were about to betray his friend Havoc, but knowing that he had no other choice (if he was wrong, then the facts would speak for themselves in due course). "I have reason to believe that Havoc may well be misleading you," he said. "Both of us."

"You say you've been warned of an Imperial base," the Jedi Knight continued, "and we've been warned of a Sith temple, but don't be fooled, Sir; I sense that whatever it is down there, some sort of... darkness. I don't know how to explain it, but it must be destroyed, not rescued. I'm not making demands of you or your crew," he assured him, "I'm asking you for time enough to find out what is down there, lest your vessel is drawn into a trap. Consider it a reconnaisance mission; if there are wounded down there, you will know it, and if there is a Sith temple or Imperial base, you will know that too before you commit yourself to battle."

Jace's fingers tensed on the flight controls. He was desperate to be moving, to end this suspense and plummet through the clouds below to whatever confrontation awaited beneath, but having spoken his peace he could only wait for the reply from the Belafonte. He looked askance at the corvette, which sat poised serenely in the distance; the two ships were but a few klicks away from each other, but the silence between them was enormous.

"Please," he said again, "Thirty minutes, and you can move in with guns blazing."

A silence ensued, during which Captain Prosper stood in quiet contemplation, his gaze glancing about the bridge at nothing in particular as he considered this Jedi's request. It was certainly unorthodox, and "extraprocedural" (for lack of a better word), but nonetheless, there was a sincerity in this Varitek's confused, but determined words; and Prosper was a proven discerner of sincerity, or conversely, insincerity.

He noticed a number of the bridge crew were looking to him dispassionately, awaiting his orders, and in that moment he made his decision. "Decisive" was, perhaps, the word that best described Prosper above all others; he was a thoughtful, fair and methodical man, but agonize over his decisions he did not. It was a talent for quick, practical thinking that one inevitably honed in combat, a harmony of intuition and intellect. Would it serve him well in this instance? Time would tell, but something in Prosper wanted to trust this Jedi.

"Hold position, Mr. Duval," he announced to his navigations officer, then clicked on his comm handset once more, "All right, Jedi. You have thirty minutes to get in and get clear, and then we're coming in hot if need be. Just do us a favor; send up whatever sort of targeting data you can get, and don't be down there when the fireworks start, over."

"I will," Jace answered simply, but gratefully, already gunning his X-wing's sublight engines and thrusting the starfighter into the depths of Dagobah's cloudy and unforgiving atmosphere. The Belafonte soon disappeared behind him, as the planet filled his entire viewport, and then nothing; a dense fog enveloped the ship, and the Jedi's usually stoic R2 droid began to beep in protest as the craft trembled around them. Varitek paid it no mind; his sense of unease, foreboding and dread seemed to intensify as he descended closer to the surface, but he forced such concerns out of his mind. He would need all the concentration he could muster simply to navigate this inhospitable world.

The Jedi Knight closed his eyes and breathed slowly, and measuredly. He no longer "saw" the fog outside his viewport, or "heard" it whistling over his hull, or even "felt" the flight controls in his hands. Rather, he surrendered himself to the Force, and allowed it to see and hear and feel and know for him. The Force, afterall, knew every swamp, gnarled tree branch, or burst of lightning that stood before him, and concordantly, so too did Jace know it. He allowed the Force to guide his motions on the controls, and soon the X-wing was gliding gracefully, determinedly over the intimidating canopies of this world, still shrouded in fog.

And then he sensed it again; the "darkness" was drawing near, and a sudden, insistent alert in the cockpit indicated that the ship was nearing Havoc's signal. Jace returned to the moment, taking command of his own senses once more as he reached for an overhead panel, shut down the sublight engines and switched on the repulsorlifts. Immediately, the fog beneath his fighter was blown aside by the exhaust, allowing him to see the terrain below and to find a clearing large enough (and stable enough) to land. Within moments, the X-wing had touched down safely, and the whine of its engines was gradually replaced by the howling of distant fauna and the rustling of leaves and branches in the wind above.

Jace climbed down from his cockpit, his boots touching this sullen land for the first time. He felt a sort of rush; an exhiliration from the sheer amount of life that he sensed around him. It was not unlike the feeling of Coruscant (a planet with a population of over one trillion), only this was more unruly and primordial, and tinged with that "darkness;" Havoc's signal was still several klicks ahead, but Jace had decided to land here and approach discreetly on foot. He placed one hand reassuringly on the lightsaber hilt at his belt (the new weapon he'd just finished constructing after his previous lightsaber was stolen by Darwin Sky, another of the Academy's failed students), then pulled the blaster pistol from his holster and checked its battery: full.

With that, he set out through the dense flora, at times having to climb through twisted tree branches as he drew nearer to where he sensed whatever remained of the presence of his friend, Havoc. Soon, the moss and soil beneath his feet was replaced by duracrete; a crude stairwell built into the side of a bluff whose peak remained shrouded in clouds, and in mystery. This, he sensed, is the place. He began to climb the earthen steps resolutely, readying himself for whatever was before him.

(this psot was originally made by Havoc)

There it was... a sudden kick within the force. Within the fog of darkness emerged a light that was only growing stronger and stronger. And leaning against the pillar, Havoc grinned. "Varitek..." He muttered with hate. Now that Varitek landed, it was time for his last part of the plan to go into action. Leaning to the right of the pillar and took sight of GP's head. "I hope the good captain is in need of a good horror show... hahaha..." Chuckled the Jedi as he extended his hand and with the command of the force, activated the comm. signal and begun to play the video. Anyone within planet range would be receiving it, followed by a voice before it played. "Jedi Varitek is dead... begin bombardment on this location... and enjoy the visual evidence of his death..." And that was it. The video of Havoc slaughtering the Dark Side Adapts and GP begun to play. Of course, there was no actual proof to Havoc that any space vessel was around, but seeing as how Varitek was planetside... he begun to assume. Pulling his body back into the shadow of the pillar, he looked up at the ledge. Now that whatever space force was out there would have no choice but to act. Wondering through the jungles, no doubt would the Jedi have trouble accessing communication. Using the force, he jumped up and with one arm hung to the ledge and pulled himself up.

Running all over the place on the ledge, Havoc begun activating the hidden traps that the temple had indeed came with. It included but not limited to spiked pits, poison gas, spinning flames, and much more. However, there was one trap that Havoc had modified, and it was in a sickly manner. From the ledge, he had a full view of the main lobby in which hung the bodies of the Dark Side Adapts. From the shadows he crossed his arms as he stood there. "Even the dead must pay their dues..." He muttered, looking at the dead bodies as they just simply hung their like decorations in a art show. However he had to finish one final piece... a prayer to his wife. Stepping back, he disappeared into the darkness and came to a spot where he got down on his knees. He looked down at the stone floor and closed his eyes. Images of his wife begun to flash back in his mind as he sat there. It was the only relief that he felt, however soon he was overwhelmed by his pain again... no doubt intensified by the Dark Side that surrounded this temple. If anything... even though he just fell from the light... it felt like he had been drowning for years.

"My darling wife... how I still continue to mourn your loss even to this day. Nothing within the force could ever get me to forget your beautiful face, and how we managed to bring a beautiful boy into the galaxy." He started, tears begun to drip from his eyes... however nothing that would make someone feel sorry for him. "My actions thus far have no doubt disapointed you, but I beg your forgiveness. What I don't expect you to forgive me for... is the death of this Jedi that is to follow." At this point, he opened his eyes and he stared straight ahead. "His death... will avenge you... I promise..." With anger built up inside the Fallen Jedi, he pulled from his belt the half-mask that was no doubt covered with blood stains and placed it over half of his right side of his face. He took a final thought, which was of his wife's death. And he let out a deadly scream that could be heard from the enterance of the temple.

As Varitek stepped up the steps, he would notice that as he stepped, his foot would active a trap. A log from his left and right would be cut from their bonds would would attempt to squeesh his head.

Varitek sensed immediately the danger, but it was not simply an arbitrary, dangerous happenstance that he felt, but was rather an imminent danger by design, and behind that design he sensed the unmistakeable, malicious and murderous intent of none other than his supposed friend, Havoc. Without using the Force (other than merely to maintain his concentration), Jace dropped nearly to a knee and immediately pushed off upon his back foot, so as to roll several feet up the slope and land, crouching on the muddy ground. Above him, the two, mighty branches collided with a vicious crack and a hail of wooden splinters all around him. One of the branches remained suspended in air by its rigging, while the other broke loose and rolled back down the recesses of the hill, disappearing in the mists below.

Not wasting a moment, Varitek leapt to his feet with blaster pistol in hand (set to stun, of course) in anticipation of an attack. But none came, and again all was silence. His breathing was calm and measured, as he brushed some of the mud from his knees, shoulders and elbows, and continued determinedly up the overgrown, earthen steps that ascended the slope. He was alright, but he increasingly sensed that Havoc was not; he felt a keen, emotional pain from the top of this hill, but also a physical pain, as if Havoc himself has been injured. But here, too, Jace sensed his friend's deliberate, demented design. Had Havoc wounded himself? What sort of madness is this? He forced himself to resist conjecture and remain firmly in the moment, undistracted.

And then, the Temple was revealed to him through the sinister fog that encompassed it. It was a small, but formidable building that had once been made of stone, but had long since been consumed by the moisture and the gnarled fauna of this planet, and now it was difficult to truly distinguish it from the rocky hill on which it stood. Some of its walls had collapsed or been eroded away, and the rest were covered with a sickly grime. But more importantly, was the sense of the place; Jace knew at once that it was a place of anguish, of torment and of death. The death of some person or persons had occurred here, to be sure, but so too had occurred the death of reason itself. And so too, perhaps, the figurative death of the Havoc that he once knew.

Varitek stepped cautiously through the intimidating entrance and into the Temple. Its floor was a mire unto itself, but its antechamber was surprisingly cavernous, and supported on either side by a row of seemingly ancient pillars. At once, Jace was suddenly accosted by a deathly scream and a flash of blue light. He aimed his blaster instinctively upon it, but lowered the weapon when it became clear to him that it was, in fact, a hologram. He stepped closer, so as to view the recording more clearly through the lingering, ethereal mist in the room, and thereupon he saw the unmistakeable form of Havoc who, in crazed (but systematic) fashion, was displayed cutting down perhaps a dozen competent, but doomed swordsman. The holo was graphic, but Varitek's gaze did not flinch away; this footage was truth, and he must see it and understand it.

However, Varitek began slowly to notice a number of dark, gently swaying forms in the darkness of the antechamber that surrounded him, but it wasn't until the hologram finished, and its projector dimmed, that he realized what they were. It became then apparent that suspended on all sides of him were the dead, mutilated and eviscerated bodies of those that Havoc had slain, recognizeable only by their bloodied garb. Jace was disgusted and repulsed in the pit of his stomach, but even here his gaze did not shy away. He closed his eyes for but a moment, then glanced slowly and resolutely about the room. "Show yourself, Havoc," he called into the darkness, knowing that wherever his old friend was, his words would be heard.

From atop of where he was, he watched in silence. The darkside of the force no doubt aided in clouding Havoc's force signature, as well as the shadows caused by the lack of light helped hide the crazed Jedi even more. Positioned perfectly, it was a perfect ambush sight, but Havoc wasn't done yet. No, he was having fun in his sick mind watching the Jedi view the holofeed. "Pretty impressive work if I do say so myself." He commented to himself as he begun to move. Jedi Varitek must of activated a bunch of the temple's defenses, however due to the age of the temple, they were not activated and this only caused slight rumbles to erupt from within the temple. Traps were useless now and it was prehaps time to entertain his friend. As he heard Varitek speak, Havoc nodded. "It's nice of you to visit me, old friend." And he rose and Varitek could no doubt see a dark figure from above. Nodding some, Havoc leaped sideways and landed in front of the hallway that leaded to the sleeping quarters... another asylum for the dead.

"Hello... old friend." Spoke Havoc as he evily smiled. No doubt had Varitek figured it out, and Havoc grabbed his lightsaber and spun it in his hand. "I must say... it took you guys longer to reach me then expected." He took a step forward. "Allow me to explain what has happened here... I came in search of Echuu for some answers, however not everything went according to plan, and as you can see by the decorations there were un-expected party animals... so I ended them the way they should properly be ended." At this point, Havoc grew impatient. It was Varitek's time to join the dead, and this was no doubt the perfect place for it. He activated his lightsaber and the blue blade hummed with evil. Pointing it at Varitek, Havoc then lowered it.

"Come my friend, let us see if it is white or black that I bleed... or better yet... if you have any courage to face me at all. Because afterall... I am not the same Havoc... oh no... not at all... your feelings betray you my friend. I'm going to tempt you worst then any temptation you have faced at all... and I'm going to start off with a Darwin Sky act. Let's start off with no lightsaber!" And with that, Havoc released a mighty roar and begun to lung forward for the Jedi. Now Havoc's mind was in it's own personal battle. Inside he knew what he was doing was wrong, however something had control over him to stop here and now.

Was it the dark side... or prehaps the light?

He didn't speak a word to him, and might not have even if his old friend had given him the chance. When Havoc lunged at Varitek with lightsaber drawn, it was no longer a time for words, or even for salvation, but for action. For one moment, the confines of the Temple echoed with the sound of shuffling boots on its stone floors, as Havoc charged and as Jace planted his feet and raised his blaster pistol (already set to stun). He knew, even as he held the trigger and sent several blazes of blue white light at his colleague (generally consistent with his chest), that it wouldn't stop him; Havoc's lightsaber would be useless against a stun blast, but no doubt he would be fast enough to dodge it. Even in his state of mind, Havoc was no fool.

In any case, as Varitek pressed nimbly off one foot to sidestep Havoc's charge, it would be enough to foil his attack and force him to recompose himself for another. In the meantime, Jace unclipped the lightsaber methodically from his belt and held it at the ready in his right hand, his blaster in his left.

(Autoed to the end to save time)

The battle had come to a very crashing conclusion. Leaning against a broken pillar in which was broken with a body... stood Jedi Varitek, holding his broken left arm. On the floor a few meters away from him, laid the battered and bloody Havoc. Jace had his fair share of wounds too, with multiple bruises all over his body, a broken arm, and well... just about a very sore body. But, both men were still clearly awake, but Havoc (if he wasn't so exausted), would want to get up and have a second go, but he had pushed his body way beyond the normal limits of a human force user. This was proven very dangerous during the fighting, as Havoc begun to lose serious control and several things became flaws. Their lightsabers fallen into a spike pit, and no doubt done for. Which ment that when both men were up and well, they'd have to construct new ones. Coughing a little, Havoc moved his head to face the Jedi. "Well... I guess I can say that it was a very entertaining fight... heh..." again he coughed and placed his head back up towards the ceiling. Suddenly, his aggression cooled, and his anger subsided. He could feel the darkside escaping through the cuts all over his body, or maybe that was the blood. Either way, it put Havoc a little at peace.

"Hurry up and arrest me... your friend's turbolasers might be joining us in a little... and with this being a very old temple... could mark the site for our graves." He commented.

It had been a furious fight, but throughout which Varitek had been anything but furious. The Jedi Knight was known to fight deliberately and methodically, and during their fight he had remained calm and collected, unaffected by Havoc's ravings. He did not wield his fists in anger, but rather in defense; he had watched his friend closely for imperfections in his form, and exploited them to devastating effect with each hostile charge, kick or punch that was thrown against him. Each move was turned against itself, and bloodied his old friend all the more.

Which was not to say that Varitek did not recieve his share of punishment. Havoc was, even if possessed by some insanity, certainly no pushover in combat, and he had proven a worthy foe (as the throbbing in Varitek's shattered arm could attest). But he who is the aggressor, and knows not even why he aggresses, will ever lose. "You don't know how true that is," Jace said, in response to Havoc's allusion to imminent bombardment (the Jedi had, in the midst of their battle, activated a homing beacon that broadcast itself to the Belafonte in orbit, and his thirty minutes were up). They needed to move.

Jace walked toward Havoc, his vanquished foe and once his friend, slowly and deliberately. His left arm was limp, but in his right he held hidden the only weapon left to him after his lightsaber had been lost; the durasteel "head" of Havoc's former droid, known affectionately as "GP" before its master had destroyed it. Unlike at the start of their encounter, Havoc now seemed more at peace, though of course he could never be truly at peace with himself after the horrors he had done (and in fact, the horrors he had done in the name of his long lost wife). But nonetheless, they had to leave and so Havoc had to be pacified.

Varitek labored down to his knee beside Havoc, and glanced down at him. "Why?" he asked him, his voice still breathless from the fight. "Why this suffering, this killing? Why this lunacy? To what end?" Jace saw, in that moment, that Havoc was thinking, and that he was, perhaps, remorseful. He was distracted. This is when Jace struck. Before his friend could answer, the Jedi gripped the severed droid's "head" in his palm and lashed it bluntly at Havoc's temple, strong enough to knock him unconscious. As he did so, he felt a distinct sense of danger, not from Havoc (for him, the fight was over), but from above.

The Belafonte was coming.
