Possible Defenses for Druckenwell

I'm sure we all recognize the contribution that Druckenwell, as an efficacious industrial world, makes to the New Republic now that it is, in fact, a member. And I'm sure we also agree that the defense of this planet and its people from the Imperial Remnant, and many other tactically significant worlds in the Doldur Sector, should be a priority both for us, and also, of course, for the government of Druckenwell itself. In this respect, I applaud Senator Ryuun for the steps he has taken thus far to ensure the security of his people.

I would like to help in this effort, and I propose that a Golan orbital defense platform be constructed at Druckenwell (at the Republic's expense), assuming of course that the Senator would accept the gesture. It is something of a custom for planets recently inducted into the Republic to have their defenses reviewed and indeed, enhanced if the need presents itself. I would also remind Senator Ryuun, however, that these platforms also serve other uses in addition to defense, such as to assist in traffic control and counter piracy, and are generally most beneficial to a world in many respects.

Of course, I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

This is a very gracious proposal you bring to the Senate, Chief of State Fitzgerald. I would not assume my small homeworld to be worthy of such firepower and defense that a Golan is capable of bringing to bear. I have not yet met with the Defense Committee to pour over Druckenwell's defenses at this time, yet I can say I would be more than willing to accept the New Republic's kind offer. While Minister Novak has graced Druckenwell with many of his own fighters and vessels, a Golan platform would, as you have pointed out, serve as a center for multiple uses.

At Druckenwell's present condition and time, our own shipyards are regrettably occupied, yet Druckenwell's militia and available vessels and craft stand readily by to support the New Republic in the upcoming times of war. We hope to assist in whatever ways possible to bring an end to this conflict that has plagued so many for so long.

I would vote in favor without any objection to what Chief of State has proposed for Druckenwell. Even though a Golan cost money, I believe it would benefit the planet in the long run. Since Druckenwell has recently become a member world, Golan should also be established as a trading post. Like Chief of State, it is entirely up to Senator Ryuun
