Seeking Injunction Against Neimoidia

Your Honor, I am Lamar Inosanto, attorney at law, representing in this case Mr. Eli Fitzgerald, his administration, and thus, the government. As you might be aware, the planet Neimoidia has made certain demands upon the planet Deralia, which is, of course, an unaligned world outside of New Republic law. These demands (submitted for the record) include the imminent threat of force, presumably from Neimoidia's planetary defense fleet.

The New Republic, my client, is prepared to argue in a pending lawsuit that Neimoidia does not have the authority, under the Common Charter, to use its fleet in this manner; we contend that the New Republic cannot possibly have a coherent and credible foreign policy when individual New Republic worlds, such as Neimoidia, are determining and implementing their own policies with respect to neutral, unaligned planets. The government does recognize that New Republic worlds, as sovereign and autonomous, do have certain, inalienable rights and prerogatives reserved to them in the Common Charter with respect to the use of their fleets (submitted for the record), but that this action by Neimoidia is not among them (unless authorized by the New Republic Diplomatic Corps, which it is not).

Therefore, while the government prepares its case, and while the lawsuit is being reviewed by this court, my client asks that the court issue an injunction against Neimoidia, to prohibit the world, temporarily, from using its fleet in the manner described.

Your Honour,

I present to you the following case pertaining to this.

The Sovereign Government of Neimoidia had seen the plight of the people under the Illegitimate regime on Deralia. This regime is notably unrecognised, it has been recognised (up to this point) by no Imperial Remmant, New Republic world, or in fact independant world, it has had no diplomatic relations at all, it is a monster of a regime, sat, isolationist and illegitimate claiming rule of its people by Imperial Authority.

Your honour, an unrecognised Government is no Government, and as such, being recognised by the Sovereign World of Neimoidia and its affiliate purse worlds King Ribaldequin's regime has vastly more legitimacy than the current 'Provisional War Council' which is nothing more than a Junta of evil men, set on keeping Deralia the isolationist mail order bride capital of the outer rim. As such, we argue that we do have the right, as the current regime is no legitimate Government, to depose that Government (by force if nessesary) in order to give substance to the recognitiion of King Ribaldequin. Furthermore, even by their own admission the throne of Deralia is empty but still extant, meaning that they in fact have no sovereign, meaning even with recognition, by their own admission they have no claim to sovereignty without a Sovereign.

So we are arguing that the legitimate Government of Deralia IS King Ribaldequin and the current regime is illegitimate and unrecognised, by this New Republic and by any other world. The New Regime to be Installed is covenanted to instate a fully representative Democracy, and make moves towards New Republic membership, which can only benefit the people of Deralia.

As a general point though, we would concede that while in this case the argument is null and void, the general point must be conceded that launching regime change of a sovereign world must have New Republic support, or potentially some form of concensus, however, in this case there is no Sovereign, no recognition, and so the argument does not stand.

And without opening another can of worms, the Government of Neimoida has voted to support a legitimate Government which has been deposed, is this not the very essesnse and spirit of what the New Republic means? Is it not the principle the alliance stood for? The spirit of restoring the rightful democracy to the people?

I also highlight that this injunction would utterly knobble the Government of Neimoidias legislature, effectively declaring all planetary legislatures non-sovereign, and I personally do not wish to see such a thing stand, the right to conduct relations with other worlds is the most critical part of sovereignty. Why allow a planet to conduct its own military, if it does not have the right to use its own military?

With respect to the Injunction, as the argument above is extant we respectfully request the court does not uphold it. We would also welcome any observers from the New Republic to participate, and observe that we will embark strenously on diplomatic measures before any military force is imposed.

Your Honor, due to this evening's passage of the Sovereignty Act, my client believes this issue has been remedied, and withdraws the lawsuit, and the request for an injunction.
