| I'm pleased to announce this evening my nomination of Lamar Inosanto to serve as a justice on the High Court. The court, as many of us know, is chronically under-staffed, and with the imminent resignation of Justice Neolight it becomes all the more important that his position be filled, so that justice can be served as wisely, and quickly, as possible. But necessity aside, there is also no question that Mr. Inosanto is eminently qualified for the position; he is an attorney with over a decade of practice and a specialty of constitutional law, who has represented the New Republic in a number of cases and consulted both with myself, and many other Senators on bills that have eventually been proposed, and passed. I ask the Chair that Mr. Inosanto be recognized to answer the questions of the Senate, and when those questions have been satisfied, I ask that the Senate vote to confirm his nomination. Of course, I vote in favor. Eli Fitzgerald Chief of State
Eli Fitzgerald Senator of Ralltiir (10 BBY—Present)

| Before I cast my vote, I for one would like to know more about this man's views on the law, and on certain issues that have been contentious in the Senate of late. Namely, what is the nominee's opinion of the Prosperity Alliance in general, and specifically its recent blockade of Acherin? We saw lately that Mr. Inosanto was willing to seek an injunction to prevent Neimoidia from intervening on Deralia, in a manner similar to that the one at Acherin. I'm curious if his opinion of Acherin, thus, is similar or dissimilar to his opinion of Deralia? Secondarily, I'm interested in Mr. Inosanto's views regarding the Senate's authority, in the Common Charter, "to regulate interstellar commerce." Particularly, his views as to how and to what extent the Senate may do this. Finally, I want to know the nominee's opinion, generally, of the Jedi Order, the role that they play in the New Republic, and whether or not they have any sort of "extralegal" status entitling them to special treatment under the law, vis'a'vis the recent Jedi Commissions Act. Also, since it has become a contested subject in recent weeks, what of the Sith? Senator Sir Reuke Cambrist, Brentaal Chairman of the Commerce Council
