| My greetings to this fine Senate and its members, who I hope soon to call my colleagues; I am Reuke Cambrist, member of the Brentaal nobility and the appointed Senator Designate of my world. It has been said that Brentaal is the most "tactically significant" world in the galaxy, and while I do not avow (or disavow) that sentiment, there is no doubt that our population of 65 billion has been indebted to the New Republic since its liberation from the Empire six years ago. Today, I seek the affirmation of the Senate, so that I might duly partake in this great enterprise that is the Republic, to which Brentaal remains grateful. I'm sure there will be questions as to my intentions in this chamber, as is your right, Senators, and allow me to answer some of them in advance. Of course, I seek material benefit for my world (greater access to imports and galactic markets, New Republic lending, and support for social programs, etc.), but I also seek to enrich and enliven this already diverse Republic with the presence of Brentaal and its unique culture and booming economy, and also to lend my planet's (and my own) trade expertise to the Senate. I ask for your support, and of course I welcome any questions you have of me. Senator Designate Cambrist, Brentaal

| May I be allowed the great honour of welcoming the honourable delegate to this Senate. I support this motion to accept Brentaal into the senate pursuant to the normal regulations, and also support Mr Cambrist being its representative here. Welcome Mr Cambrist, I greatly look forward to building a constructive future for the New Republic with you.

| I second the remarks of Senator Kruus, and I do not oppose this confirmation. Brentaal is indeed the foremost trade hub in the galaxy, and in dealing with my organization the Cambrists have always been most knowledgeable, and amenable. I welcome you to our ranks, Senator. From the office of the Chairman, Drayson Loran (R-OSC)

| {(To take place before Carson meets Cambrist in the restaurant)} Unusually for Carson he had little to say, he merely eyed the man seeking the approval of the galactic body with polite interest. Privately he felt that Cambrist held himself in greater esteem than he should. Time would certainly tell. “Confirmed,” He said mildly.
